| Looks like my absence from xanga for 4 years seems soooo long ago. I was talking to a friend about blogging the other day and it got me nostalgic about the blog I set up with haruko's encouragement sooo long ago.
Reading my last post seems sad and desperate but I have managed to pull through the situation. I don't know how but I somehow managed it. I guess my absence from blog-dom is a combination of busy schedules and crazy study life. So here's to fill in the gaps...
After that last blog, I managed to get three part-time jobs to help along in 2005. One as a waitress, one as a tutor for calculus and another as a translator from Chinese-English and vice versa for the Ministry of Education. Then in summer 2005 I got a job for a new company called Slipstream Automation that does laboratory automation. In essance the company does some consultant work for HortResearch New Zealand and I was one of the summer student workers there.
After summer ended it was 2006 and I was still doing calculus tutoring and working part time for my boss, Mike Cook, from Slipstream Automation. This was a crazy year for me as uni lectures for 3rd years are hell with up to 30 hours a week of lectures, ga-zillions hours of research on your own time and I still have to work for funds. Don't know how i survived that. Summer 2006 again saw me working for Mike.
Finally 2007 and my final honours year at uni. 2007 was kinder to me and life had a slight perk when I worked as an RA for my uni besides my part time job for Mike as per usual. An RA is a Residential Advisor who takes care of the residents of a particular hall in the university. Not an ideal job as this means making rounds at night to stop binge drinkers from sending themselves to the hospitals, making sure drunk first years are not going to do something stupid like try jumping from 3rd floor window to nearby tree... wait that did happen, oh right, fire department came.... I was really tempted to let natural selection take its course. An RA job also includes helping people settle down. My hall was an international students hall with residents from so many places, hence, homesickess and fights were not uncommon. The upside is I get 2 free meals a day and free accomodation for a year. My boss kinda likes me (as a good worker... lol... not the other sense) and has also loaned me near 10,000 dollars for my final year school fees which is a life saver for me. He will never know how much he has saved me in my time of need and I can never thank him enough.
2008. *large sigh of relief* I Finally GRADUATED~! OMG reality does not seem to have sunk in yet. I am now B.Eng(Hons) Class II 1st Div. In my student life I have not gone back home for more than 5 weeks in total and this year I went home and unwind for a total for 6 weeks!!! Am now working for my boss full time and somehow find working life so much less stress than that of student life.
Hope you all had a great past 4 years and will try to read the blogs and catch up to what happen... will not read all 4 years worth but just a few recent ones. Feel free to drop a hint as to which webpost is more significant and I should pay attention to.
Hugz
