| Ha! I haven't blogged since my brithday, but I read other peoples blogs and this one is worth linking too. http://www.ysmarko.com/?p=2268 I guess if we lived there I would be the flippin family minister. that's too funny. | | |
| I just got done riding our new (used) lawnmower. actually, I did the front of the house in about 30 mins yesterday between the football pre-game meal and the game (which they won, so they are now 2-0). Then this morning, Myra "offered" to ride while I used the push mower and weedeater, So I pushed the little hill that the rider can't do, then polished up some edges, then finished the lot, where Myra didn't want to go cause it's so dusty. All in all, it took about an hour and a half, but I'm not tired and actually it's kinda fun. I do miss my 5 hours of thinking time that I got while pushing the whole thing, but maybe I can find that somewhere else. Today we are going to Chatanooga to the Aquarium and then to see a college soccer game in which some of my players from last year will be playing. I turned 33 today, and that pretty much just reminds me that its been three years since heart surgery. Glad to be alive and kickin' Finally finished "Searching for God Knows What" by Donald Miller. He is a great writer with amazing insight and thought. I don't agree with everything, but good to read something that makes you think, not just accept as truth. Nathan Maxwell, if you read this blog, you would like this book. Next up, "The way of the wild at heart" supposed to be a good application of "Wild at Heart". | | |
| Well, I am starting to feel better. I actually went all day without a nap. that's a first since surgery. This week is McPOW. A youth event that a few of the area youth ministries and I put on as a "local" mission trip. I have been leading worship in the morning. The first day, I was so tired I went home to bed. Today, I went home to watch the kids, while Myra went out doing evangelism. Hopefully, tommorrow I can get back into it more. I am in charge of the games tommorrow night, so I need some energy left for that. Myra seemed to have such a good time, maybe she should go out again, I should watch the kids. I don't know. I do love seeing her enjoying ministry. Not that her work at home isn't ministry, it is and she is great at it, but I also love to see and hear about how God uses her out in other areas. Thanks for all the prayers and support. I think there is a light at the end of this tunnel. however, there is a lot ahead this week still with McPOW, then on Sunday - Tuesday, I am leading "motivational talks" each night for the football team while they have "camp." There is also a soccer camp next week for the rec league that my High School players are leading the drills for, but I have to come up with the drills. I can't be there cause we are in another "dead period" where the coach can not have "contact" with the players. then my parents come the next week. not to mention all the ideas and thoughts and stuff I feel I need to do at church. one day at a time, right. I'm trying! | | |
| I got my Gall bladder out on Tuesday, was feeling better yesterday, then last night started feeling bad, woke up with a big knot under one of my incisions. went to the dr. he said it was a bruise or hematoma or possible a hernia. He said I had been doing too much, but I feel like I haven't been doing anything. So I laid around all day today feeling useless. I want to get better, but realize its worth it to spend a few days in the bed to get out sooner. and not have to go back. Please God, make me better. | | |
| Summer is bustin on through. I got back from our AZ mission trip on Sunday Morning at 3:30 and got up to go to the early service at the Methodist church so the boys could sing their VBS songs. they did great. Then I went to CFC where I led worship, I was drained before the service, but somehow God gave me the energy for it, lunch afterwards, then a short nap. That afternoon, I went to the chastains to watch the US soccer match which they won vs. Mexico, then to the pool to watch the boys new talent of going off the high dive and swimming to the side all by themselves. So much can change in just one week being gone. We left two guys in AZ, they asked us too, so I am praying for them and the group from Pioneer Baptist that is there this week. This is the week that I have gone in the past called crusade week, where they do a crusade in the local grocery store parking lot. it is very evangelistic. I am praying that people would just pray a prayer, but would become disciples. Pray for Robby and Alex especially as they are in their second week there and it is very draining. Back here it is a mandatory two week dead period for soccer so I don't have to worry about that. I am working on getting MMerge Ministries filed for Non-profit recognition. I also have a lot to do for McPOW our big "local" mission trip that we do with other youth groups. Our youth have been making our own Soap Opera for the summer called "Summer Sizzle" I have be talking about relationships from these. One the way to AZ I sat next to a couple, Bob and Susan Weeks, from Smyrna. They go to FBC Smyrna and were on vacation, but very interested in what I was doing. It turned out that they were flying back on the same flight, so I sat next to them again. They are a neat older couple as I was leaving, they gave me $100 to take the family out, so on Monday, we went to the Chattanoga Aquarium (we bought year passes back in april) then we ate at Sticky Fingers, a great Rib place. It was great.

This is called Menagers Dam, it isn't used anymore, but it was fun to jump off, like I used to do on the dunes in Saudi Arabia
The butterfly room at the Aquarium is the favorite place for all the kids.
