Day 1

CTC

Our first destination is Chatuchak Weekend Market!

1st day@ CTC

This is our buy from CTC! No wonder everyone loves CTC, things there are cheap & good!

I bought a few pair of earrings there. Only 60 baht per pair! The top is from CTC too :D

P1090930

This is where we had our lunch :)

After a few hrs of non-stop shopping, we took BTS back to hotel and then headed for dinner.

P1090967

The operation hr of BTS is from 6am till 12midnite.

There are 2 types of tickets available, One Day Pass or Single Journey Ticket.

One Day Pass cost 120 baht and non-refundable, it allows unlimited rides for 1 day

As for Single Journey Ticket, the fare varies with destination, usually between 15~40 baht.

Cupcake from BTS

As I was too hungry. I bought these cup cakes from a stall outside the BTS.

Yummilicious!

Somboon seafood 2

Dinner @ Somboon Seafood, Bamtadthong Branch

Somboondee

Made a reservation with the restaurant and received a reply email from them.

Beware of taxi drivers sending you to Somboondee instead of Somboon Seafood. They are not the same!

Not only the food @ Somboondee taste awful, the price is ridiculously expensive too!

We wanted to find our way there initially, but due to the rain, we took a cab there instead.

We emphasized to the bell boy that we WANT to go Somboon Seafood and show the map to the driver before we board the taxi.

When we passed by an alley, the taxi driver pointed to a restaurant and told us "it is the same as Somboon Seafood"

So, make sure you bring a map with you so the taxi driver will not send you to Somboondee instead.

The drivers get commission from Somboondee :(

Soomboon seafood 1

This is the 'real' Somboon Seafood.

somboon

We ordered tom yum goong, fried fish, fried kangkung, curry crab, Asahi beer & young coconut.

Coconut @ Somboon

Total bill < 1000 baht. Not exactly cheap, but i dont mind as long as the food is good :D

Address: 895/6-21 Soi Chula 8, Bantadthong Road, Wangmai, Pathuwan, Bangkok 10330

Opening hours: 4pm ~ 11.30pm

Went to Patpong Night Market after dinner, nothing much there as we are not interested to watch the tiger show.

Mainly imitation stuff are sold there.

Day 2

Went to CentralWorld to continue our shopping the next morning!

Naraya @ CentralWorld

Not forgetting the must buy, NaRaYa (it's at 3rd level)!

Everything is cheap! A pretty cosmetic pouch only costed < 100 baht!

I bought alot for xmas presents and mum & auntie. But realized still not enuff in the end. Should have buy more!!

Don't forget to get Tourist Privilege Card at Information Counter, 1st floor, Central Court Zone to enjoy more discount! But does not appy to NaRaYa though :P

CentralWorld is previously known as World Trade Center, it opens daily from 10am ~ 10pm.

Foodloft 2Foodloft 4

FoodLoft is a high end food court in the building. It has the same concept as Marche.

foodloft

We were given a card when we enter to the restaurant. Just use this card to order our food & settle the bill before we leave the restaurant.

mango sticky rice @ Foodloft

Mango Sticky Rice, the mango is very sweet, but I do not like the rice :D

As for dinner, it was taken at this restaurant in CentralWorld called Santa Fe.

Santa Fe

It serves cheap & good western food.

Grilled dory fish complete with garlic bread & salad for just 99 baht!

3 wow for them!

P1100007

There are some al fresco pubs just outside CentralWorld.

CentralWorld 3

It's an ideal place to rest & chill after a long day of shopping.

Bangkok 8th ~ 11th Nov 2008

Wow this is really a long outstanding post! I'm actually planning for my 2nd trip there now, LOL

It was my 1st trip to Bangkok, i spent alot of time in researching, from accomodation, food, shopping, etc to planning for the itinerary.

Generally, there are 3 seasons in Thailand.

  1. Summer ~ Mid Feb to Mid May, so expect to sweat if you are traveling during this period
  2. Raining season ~ End May to Mid Oct
  3. Winter ~ Nov to Feb, the temperature can be quite cold. But it was okay when we went last yr

We flew by Tiger Airways. Managed to book the airtickets during the S$9.99 promotion.

But after including the airport tax (S$72), fuel charge (S$87), 2 ways luggage checked in (S$20) & convenience fee (S$8), it become S$206.98 per pax :(

Still not a bad a deal i assume.

P1090914

Budget Terminal.

We took 7.10am flight to Bangkok & left for Singapore at 8.10pm (Bkk time).

But the return flight was delayed close to an hour :(

baiyoke boutique

We stayed in Baiyoke Boutique Hotel after reading all the raves in FP.

Three nites stay in Superior room with breakfast only costed us S$162 in total.

That is S$54/nite. I booked from pyotravel.com.sg. This is an user friendly & reliable site.

For the price that i was paying, i'll not hesitate to go back again. :)

The check in time is 2pm and check out time is 12pm.

As we reached the hotel rather early, we left our luggages in lobby and headed to Chatuchak!

Baiyoke Boutique Lobby

The hotel lobby is bright & clean and the front desk staff  is generally very polite & helpful too

Baiyoke Boutique 1

Room is clean & comfy as well! I luv to stay in boutique hotel, cheap & good!

But one drawback is the taxi drivers generally do not know the exact location of the hotel.

When we took a cab from the airport, the driver actually sent us to Baiyoke Suite Hotel instead.

So just tell the driver to go to Baiyoke Sky Hotel (Thailand’s tallest and Bangkok’s most scenic hotel), Baiyoke Boutique Hotel is just behind Baiyoke Sky Hotel.

bfast

Hotel breakfast is decent. Not too bad for a 3 stars hotel.

Ohya, the bell boy is very helpful as well! He helped us to send our luggages to our room & switched on the air-con for us! Of coz, we tipped him :D

Tipping is quite common but not compulsory.

Usually for hotel staff & waiters, tipping is around 20~30 baht.

Whereas for masseur, it's about 50 baht per hour or 50~100 baht for 2hrs & above.

baiyoke 78th floor buffet

Baiyoke Boutique Hotel guests are entitled to 50% discount on buffet lunch & dinner @ Baiyoke Sky Restaurant.

It serve international seafood buffet, it is located on 76th & 78th  floor.

So we only paid 470 baht per person for the buffet dinner @ 78th floor. :D

P1100121P1100116

It also allow us to have free entrance fee to Observation deck (77th. floor) and The Revolving Open-Air roof deck on 84th floor.

P1100203_edit

Nothing much to shout about of the food there, but the view is fantastic!

P1100175

Especially when we are at the revolving deck on 84th floor!

~ :: New Gadget Added :: ~

Tadah! I've just bought this for my mum over the weekend, such a filial daughter rite!
Bought this @ at rm2499, comes with S-video cable + 3 yrs warranty (2 + 1 yr extended warranty redeemed from SS points).

(i'm suppose to get an additional 1 yr warranty if to purchase with SonyCard, all thanks to our largest bank in Msia! )

After comparison, i've decided to buy in Msia instead.
Although i'm not entitled to staff discount, but it is still cheaper to get it in Msia.
Perhaps it's because Bravia is manufactured by SOEM?

It was voted as 8.7 out of 10 in Cnet website.
View the specs here

What's more, it also comes with a free DVD player worth rm199!

Not a bad deal i guess?

She's a very nice lady to work with, friendly, helpful & patient.

She taught me alot when we worked together.
