Hawaii - seeking advice!

So we decided that we're going to Hawaii for our honeymoon.  The way the frequent flyer flights worked out, we're going to Oahu for 2 nights, the Big Island for 3 nights, and Maui for 5 nights.

Do any of you have advice on places to stay, places to eat, things to do, etc.?  The only thing we've booked so far is the Sheraton Maui.  We're thinking of booking Kona Village Resort for the Big Island, but we're open to advice from those of you who visited Hawaii in the past.

Something funny that my mom forwarded to me:

__________________________________________________________________

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, observing his wife, looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her Birthday.

"I'd like to be six again", she replied, still looking in the mirror.

On the morning of her birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park.  What a day!  He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Monster Roller Coaster, everything there was.  Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down.

He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.  Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's.  What a fabulous adventure!

Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.  He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, "Well Dear, what was it like being six again??"

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed. "I meant my dress size, you dumb ass!"

The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is gonna get it wrong.

Ok, one more photo to gross you guys out.  Our second night in China, we ate dinner with Jackson's cousin.  He asked me what my parents like to eat.  I told him my dad likes seafood and my mom likes vegetables.

He took us to this restaurant that has no menus.  Instead, you walk over to a section of the restaurant that looks like Monterey Bay Aquarium.  You literally point at the specific fish/sea creature that you would like to eat, and they kill it on the spot.  I went with Jackson and his cousin and got grossed out when a guy started hammering a large fish to death.  Some interesting animals that I saw: sting ray, snakes, turtles.  In the end, I had to ask my parents to take my place.

Our meal consisted of: turtle soup, sand worm soup, water beetles (as shown above), and some other dishes that seemed tame in comparison.  My mom hardly ate anything that night.  I tried some of each dish, including the beetle.  Apparently, there is an art to eating a beetle.  You pull off the wings and legs and only eat the butt.  Hehe...I hope you ate your food already.  :)

Nope, we didn't eat this.  I just think it's a cute photo.  We went to a Sea World-like park in Hong Kong.  I highly recommend it, if you enjoy aquariums and zoos.  It also had a tram ride with awesome views of the bay.  Some more photos from the park:

Photo from our recent trip to China.  Three things to note in this photo:

- The worm-like things Jackson's holding on the toothpick are silk worms.  Eww...you must be thinking.  Turns out it is quite common to eat these worms in many parts of China.  My dad ate a lot of these when he was young.  He got so excited when he ordered them at this restaurant.  Never one to criticize before trying it myself, I ate three of them.  They taste like fried peanut skins.  Jackson says they taste like popcorn.

- Jackson is holding a snail in his right hand.  Jackson and my dad bonded over exotic food.  Both of them like eating snails, random fish body parts, and the like.  The two of them inhaled a huge plate of snails.  Yummy...tastes like clams only chewier.

- Jackson bought two pairs of glasses in China.  The one in this photo is for his "designer" look.  It makes him look artsy and creative.  Unfortunately, he had them adjusted one too many times.  The screw ended up wearing down the joint of the frames.  He'll probably superglue it together later.  He also bought another pair that is rounder and makes him look scholarly.  That one gives him a headache, though, so he hasn't been wearing them.  Funny how he bought glasses to cure a headache (like Sawyer on Lost), but the glasses give him even more of a headache.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Yi-Ning showed me how to post photos on xanga and told me to post something every week.  So here is the beginning of a LONG photo journal.

This photo is from my trip to France during the summer after graduating from MIT.  It was taken at one of a gazillion castles that we visited.  Do any of you remember which castle it was?

Clockwise from the top right: Brian, Rusan, Jen, Sherry, me, and Rob.  Kelly and Amy decided to ditch us in favor of shopping. :)
