| ok, this is going to be one of my political posts so if you happen to dislike my political rants, you might not want to read this......Today is the day after the handover of power in Iraq if one can really call it that because I'm not exactly sure what decisions if any the new government will be making. As I expected, hardly anything was reported about the three marines killed in Iraq today after a car bomb exploded near their convoy which can be attributed to the news network bias in this country. However, my thoughts for today center around another ongoing situation across the world. For the past several years, the people of Sudan, especially those who live in Darfur have been among the worst victims of the abject poverty many people in Central and Western Africa face each day. This combined with the growing number of people murdered and displaced by ethnic cleansing and genocide throughout the region has created a most dire and quoting Colin powell "catastrophic" situation in the impoverished nation. I bring this up because of the apparent goals of what is now being referred to as the Bush Doctrine. Putting politics and weapons of mass destruction aside, President Bush has a basic foreign policy of preemption. We go to places where we believe terrorists may be or places that are breeding grounds for terrorism and either take out the terrorists or change those breeding ground nations to not become places of terrorist support. Hence, the conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, and to some extent Liberia and Haiti. I think everyone can generally agree that it is easier for terrorism to flourish in third-world nations that are begging for order and relief. If the Bush Doctrine is what it says it is, one would think that American troops would be leading the effort in Sudan, but they are not. In fact there is no nation currently leading a military operation to stop the ongoing ethnic cleansing there. The United Nations has dropped supplies and I must admit the US has helped there, but still no military presence which means no real action. Sudan left the way it is will become a terrorist support center but not before hundreds of thousands more are slaughtered. We've seen this happen before in Nazi Germany, Iraq, Bosnia, and Rwanda. Former President Bill Clinton has said that his greatest foreign policy failure was not sending troops to Rwanda to stop the ethnic cleansing there. Let us hope Mr. Bush will never have to say the same. Please write letters to your representatives in Congress and let them know that this is a REAL issue of liberation and that ethnic cleansing is a REAL weapon of mass destruction. | | |
| I just got back from Barbara and Jerry's house. I spent last night there and it was pretty fun. Stephen came over and we were playing Uno and he was asking me why I had so many Bon Jovi cds so of course I told him that Jon Bon Jovi was hot and he almost died laughing. hes so odd.....Anywayz, Barbara gave me driving lessons today on the John Deere Gator and I did pretty well for my first time. We went next door and I met her neighbor Anette. Their house is beautiful and they have so much land.I met her son Ryan. Hes really nice. I took him out on the Gator and even he said that I'm a good driver. I'll be over there for a week by myself housesitting in two weks so I'll probably hang out with him. Thats really all I did today. On Saturday, I have to go to Savannah for orientation and registration. Thats it folks.

| I got the Clinton book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ok so maybe i'm the only one thats excited. There were only like 15 people outside B&N this morning. I havent started reading it yet but i do plan on taking it back because I found out yesterday that in order for President Clinton to sign your book, you have to buy it from Chapter 11 books in Atlanta. Regardless, i still have 30 days to read the book before the B&N refund policy wears out so I'm not worried. On July 21 I am going to Atlanta to get my book signed and that should definitely be a highlight of my summer.

| Summer is going quite well i must say.....i got back from the cousins' on Tuesday night and I've just been relaxing at home these past few days. Yesterday, I went to the movies with Tisha. We saw Harry Potter and Saved which was really interesting....I dont think many people have ever wondered if the Virgin Mary just made the whole thing up. Frances is coming over on Tuesday and I'm really excited since I havent seen her in like forever. I started my own little private countdown to June 22 which is when the Clinton book comes out. Thats about it really. The days move slowly but I'm having tons of fun.
