| So usually I don't just complain too much about things on a xanga...but I was watching one of the most absurd things in the world this morning on Good Morning America. Pre-warning, this may come off as being a bit jaded, but when I saw a small portion of this it drove me crazy. I believe it was Winona Judd that was on TV talking about how she had to go to "rehab" because of her financial addiction. She made statements about how she "had to buy a new house, new cars, a new boat". She talked about how "being in rehab" was absolutely necessary. My question is, how much money do you have to pay to go into financial rehab? How can you even afford it?
I guess this just seems to personify how American thinks. So many things that people say they "need" really are things that they want. Finances is something that Jill and I have really been working on, we finished up taking a Crown Ministries Bible Study a few months ago. Really made us re-prioritize and reassess what it was that we "wanted" and what we "needed". So quick plug for that, if any of you go to churches that offer the Crown Ministries Financial Bible Study, you should definitely do it. We still have our moments where we go in and out of doing a better job with watching our finances, but it really helps put a biblical perspective on the way you use/look at your money.
So anyways, back to the whole "financial rehab" thing. Just blew my mind that they were putting this on nationwide TV. I just wonder if this "financial rehab" place is affordable for "normal" people. It's just so crazy...so that's my two cents for that.
| So I must say that the thing that has challenged me to writer in my xanga was reading Lizzo's xanga about how horrible Michigan played this past weekend. I would write more about this game, but I feel like Liz did such a great synopsis and on top of that, it's just too painful to talk about.
Well, I'm still in the Milwaukee area. Jill and I have been married for a little over a year...it's been crazy to think that a year ago I was just finishing up grad school and was getting married, moving to Milwaukee and working at Starbucks. Things have greatly changed since then. Jill is currently working at Elmbrook Church, the church that we attend, we have started up a couples small group which has been a HUGE blessing after being surrounded by so many strong men of God on my floor the past 3 years at Trinity, it was a shot of reality moving to Milwaukee and not having that kind of support. I am currently working as a case manager for a place called Bell Therapy where I have a case load of 17 clients that struggle with chronic mental illness. It's been challenging, but good to get back into the "counseling field".
Don't worry, although I've moved to Milwaukee i still have my strong ties to University of Michigan Football, that's right folks, I still bleed Maize & Blue...I still rock all my Pistons gear while walking around here in Milwaukee getting odd glances. But I have to admit that I have "transferred" my allegiances to the Packers. Not saying that I was EVER a Lions fan (which I probably never will be, because of how horrible a "leader" Matt Millen is.) So that's right folks, I'll bear getting beat up around the Milwaukee area in two weeks when Michigan takes on the Badgers. Hopefully I'll be able to be one of the few people celebrating in this area!
I'll try to keep up more on xangaing so those of you that actually still read this stuff can keep up with me. It's amazing how sometimes technology can help us keep in touch with one another.
| Wow....so now I've been officially married for 3 weeks....crazy stuff....wedding was amazing....reception was fun.....Honeymoon was restful and gorgeous down in good old Naples and then hitting Disney....the Buzz Lightyear ride is freakin awesome! Not to mention the Monster's Inc. Laughing floor...it's amazing nowadays what technology is capable of. The show was an interactive stand-up comedy type of thing where the animated characters on screen would use audience members for the show. Amazing!
