I can't believe its already been a year! I just looked at the blog from last year's birthday and I am amazed at how time flew by. To keep up with tradition (at least try to), I will use favorite tv shows and movies for my... "28 for 28" 1. CSI: Vegas - I love love this show! I think its the way everything unfolds and how tedious the entire process is that makes it very enjoyable. I guess the precision and accuracy of the process and how organized everything is makes it appeal to me too. 2. CSI: NY - Before the series came out there were speculations on who the lead CSI would be and I found out that Gary Sinise was being considered. I was so psyched! When the introduction of the series aired, I got hooked. Hill Harper and Eddie Cahill also add to my keen interest in the series. I love the City of New York! (H and J, we have to do a repeat!) 3. The West Wing - I started watching this show through a friend's recommendation. (Thanks, E!) The ideals that this show espoused is something I believed in...and still do. There are some particular scenes that I remember very fondly from this show. =) 4. Alias - The first few seasons were good. Middle of the fourth season, it became too forced. But it did make me a follower of Jennifer Garner for a while. The whole secrecy and double-life story thread is very interesting. 5. Fracture - Courtroom drama and Anthony Hopkins! Two of my absolute favorites. I also liked Ryan Gosling's portrayal of the prosecutor. 6. Firefly - This series was also recommended by my friend, H. I thought to myself, no harm to just watch it, then just turn off the dvd when it doesn't tickle my fancy. Joss Whedon's witty and humorous script made this series good. It didn't turn me into a big Whedon fan like H but it certainly made me a fan of the series. Captain Malcolm Reynolds is hilarious! 7. Serenity - Since I loved Firefly, I definitely enjoyed Serenity. 8. Strangers On A Train - I'm a big Hitchcock fan. This is one of his films that I like the most. Just the thought of two strangers contracting each other to get rid of their problems amazes me. Imagine my surprise when one CSI episode used this film for reference. 9. Patch Adams - Very touching story. Patch's manner of dealing with patients is something that should be adopted by every doctor, nurse, nurse's aid, and whoever works in the medical field. This is why I personally believe that being a nurse or a doctor is a calling. 10. Aladdin - My current favorite Disney film. Being an avid Lea Salonga fan, I think it is only fitting that I have this on my list. 11. The Closer - Kyra Sedgwick surprised me in this series. It's such a great show. I can't wait for the new season. The ensemble is really great too. The weekly episodes doesn't fail to keep me interested. I'm hoping it keeps up. 12. My Boys - I stumbled upon this series one late night. There was nothing else to watch so I decided to check it out. It's actually funny. I can imagine myself with friends and family like that. 13. With Honors - I love stories that challenge the norm. Brendan Fraser's character learned to stand up for what he believed in through the eyes of Joe Pesci. Brendan already had everything planned and his thesis made out. Then fate throws in a curve ball that made him reflect on everything that he believed in. 14. Airwolf - I grew up with this tv series. My older brother is named after Jan Michael Vincent. Its just great to be able to remember childhood memories through tv. 15. Ever After - A great re-telling of a classic. I've heard that its going to be on stage next year. 16. Double Jeopardy - I like strong female characters. Ashley Judd portrayed the character very well. 17. Monk - People who know me very well will definitely understand why I like watching this show. 18. Criminal Minds - If you haven't seen an episode of this FBI drama, you should at least watch one. The way the team profiles suspects is very interesting to watch. Matthew Gubler's character is also good to watch. There's also Shemar Moore for eye candy. I was a little bit disappointed when Mandy Patinkin left the show. Joe Mantegna is doing a good job though so far. 19. NCIS - Mark Harmon! 'Nuff said. 20. Lucky Seven - This was a tv special that starred Patrick Dempsey. This was before his McDreamy days. It's the usual chick flick. I just like it. 21. Never Been Kissed - I was introduced to Michael Vartan through this film. I think this was the very first film that I watched by myself. I had a really long break in between classes so I decided to catch a flick before I went back to school. I found that watching movies by myself ain't that bad. 22. The Incredibles 23. The Last Kiss - This movie stirred great conversation between me and my teammates. Its just interesting how everyone has a different take on this movie. Did she forgive him? Did she not? Should he be forgiven? Should he not be forgiven? I don't know...what do you think? 24. Hero 25. The Manchurian Candidate 26. Law & Order: SVU 27. Pushing Daisies 28. The Italian Job There you go! Actually these are the shows and films that are in my head right now. If I think of anything else I might change some of it. Anyways...here's to another year of great experiences with friends and family. Thank you! Lolo, I miss you. |
