The End.

Sorry, loyal readers, but I've decided not to write here anymore. Too much controversy, too much suppression of my thoughts. If I can't be candid, there doesn't seem to be any point to writing here. Thanks for reading and have a great summer!

Procrastination

I should be writing my multiple papers (a ten pager I haven't started yet is due in three days) but I felt the urge to blog about my weekend before I forget it in a stress-induced panic attack that seems inevitable towards the end of this week.

Hope you can deal with my stream of conscience writing style...here goes:

Found out today that I left my $76 monthly metro card in NC; still had about ten days left on it. Crap.

Bruce had a mental slip up and reread and therefore regraded a paper I (and the rest of LANY) had written. I got an 86 the first time around and a 98 the second. Woot.

Today I got dressed up as cute as I could in order to make myself feel better about the fact that I have no internship, 9 unwritten papers, and a weight gain for the semester of about ten pounds. And guess what? Not only did nearly every guy do a double take as I walked by, but I even got my dinner for free from a Hispanic twentysomething at Chipotle. Score.

Spamalot is a hoot, even if I think the movie (Monty Python and the Holy Grail) was better. But as far as a theatrical production is concerned, that was over the top indulgent!

My nerves were settled after my encounter with the curb-side check-in guy (don't care to tell the story) when I retrieved my luggage at LGA and especially after my 50 something Muslim-complete-with-turban cabbie told me (quite romantically, might I add, because he looked right into my eyes while standing next to me when taking my luggage out of the trunk) that I was beautiful. It sure took me by surprise and all I could say was 'thank you' before blushing and briskly walking into my building.

It was weird being back at Duke-- didn't recognize a soul. Ok, saw like, four people I knew. That doesn't really count.

Went on shopping spree at Target. Nearly maxed out my credit card. But Target is fabulous, so if I'm going to max out a credit card, might as well be at Target. *Note: when you read this, please pronounce Target the French way. Thank you.*

Also got some new jewelry pieces and two pairs of rec. sneakers at Southpoint.

My Dell DJ broke for the THIRD time. I think I may actually switch back to an iPod. *GASP*

I had a great weekend-- especially because I got to see my family!

T.J. Maxx is also a fabulous store. Bought two purses that were both originally $80 for $25 each. Yowza!

I just wrote Yowza! Now we all *know* I'm under stress.

Better get back to those papers....or at least to thinking about them before I go to sleep. Love you all.

The Best Night of LANY

Last night was our last night at the opera. We saw Mozart's The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflote) and oh my god, it was INCREDIBLE! It's a new production, designed by Julie Taymor of Lion King fame. I couldn't believe my eyes! And the music was so beautiful, but most unbelievable of all was the singing! The Queen of the Night did this thing with her voice that I didn't even think was humanly possible. I want to see it again.

During intermission I started canvassing my friends if they wanted to go to Fiorello's with me for dessert. A few of us had been there on Monday night for dessert and it was delicious and a lot of fun, and since it's the end of the semester (and our last night at the Met.) I thought, why not again?

Unfortunately, all of my friends but one didn't want to go. Fortunately, that one friend is better friends with all the girls I'm not as friendly with (though by no means do we not get along; we're simply just acquantainces, that's all) and got them to agree to go. So seven of us (six LANYers and a visitor) went to Fiorello's (all glammed up may I add because we agreed ahead of time we should do so for our last night at the Met.) and had a really fun time. It made me sad that I didn't go out with them earlier in the semester because they really embraced me and I didn't feel as awkward as I did, when say, I ate meals with Becca, Emily, and Shannan last semester. So, I'm hoping there are a few more opportunities to go out with them next week. If not, at least I have one that I can cherish. Ahhh, what a fantastic night!!! I went to bed really happy, needless to say...

...but now I'm off to my last art class of the year, which I am also happy about because I really hated that class!

I'm Sorry For My Candor

Even though this page was named Candid Chameleon for a REASON, I will stop being so candid here. I got the sense that my family wanted to know what was going on in my life, which was why I started this page in the first place. However, since it is too much for you guys, I'll stop. I'll only write about insignificant, uncontroversial aspects of my daily existence. But, be warned that I won't be posting as often, since not as many things will be happening to me that are worthy of falling into the latter category. If you lose touch of what's going on in my life, please don't complain: you have all asked for it.

As for my friends, who seem to enjoy hearing about my life, etc., I will email you about the new page I'll be posting on, so you can continue to read my "daily rantings" at your discretion. Love, M
