| The sales have begun.
I'm dead.
You would think that I would save money for my upcoming trip to Hong Kong (I leave in 4 days!).
But no, I have to go on a shopping spree.
I thought I had myself under control when I went shopping with Tracy and the boys on Monday. I didn't buy a thing. I only bought a necklace. Hey, it was half price. There is no resistance for that kind of bargain.
I even spent Wednesday out of the house with the boyfriend and came home empty handed.
Then I got the call that brought out the shopaholic diva in me.
I mean, how can you say no to shopping with a friend you've not seen in ages, offers to drive to Midvalley, and invites you to be her guest at a sale for members only? You don't.
Spent almost the whole day at Midvalley Megamall and the Gardens with Wendy. Literally.
Came home with lingerie from La Senza (I can never have enough stuff from this place), a pair of pants from Zara, a top from Naf Naf and 2 shirts for the boyfriend from Marks & Spencers. While it didn't seem like much, my wallet definitely felt it bad.
Which was really nothing compared to the following day.
Decided to meet up with mom for lunch at KLCC. Had errands to run so ended up there late.
Had a quick lunch at The Lawn.
Still can't get over the cuteness of the table numbers
 Salmon sandwich
Since I had time to kill, I did what I do best. Spend money.
By the time mom got off work, my feet were aching and so were my hands. On the bright side, I got more lingerie, a dress from Zara, a bag for Tracy from MNG, 2 books from Kinokuniya, and an amazing pair of skirt/shorts from Topshop. Bad news, I need to barricade myself in my room for the next 5 months before my debts can be settled.
Mom got off work. Since traffic was bad, we decided to eat before we headed home. Stopped at Sunway Pyramid because it was on the way. Had dinner at Dragon-i.
Fried tofu with salt and pepper - It's amazingly soft on the inside!
 Fried wanton
 Fried carrot cake
Fried pork chop with fried (everything seems to be fried ) rice
Xiao Long Bao - no other place does it as well...
Ordered too much as usual and had to pack up the leftovers. Walked around for a bit because we had a little time for once - we usually get to Sunway Pyramid on Friday nights with just enough time for dinner. Promod was having their sale and decided to check it out for fun. Bad idea. Came out with another 2 tops.
So much for saving for Hong Kong. Oh well.
Carrie's cupcake project this week: Blondies which is supposed to be a pale version of Brownies.

Looks good, smells even better. Don't know how it tastes like since I don't like nuts.
I don't usually eat what I bake. Weird, I know.

You Are Black Pepper

You may be considered ordinary by some, but you're far from boring.
You elevate the mood of any discussion, and people miss you when you're not around.
You are secretly very dominant and powerful. Most can only take you in small doses.

| If I thought May was bad, June was is crazy.
1st of June saw the 6th Young Singers Choral Festival committee members running around like their heads had been chopped off getting last minute things done. Then, it was time to camp over at the KL Performing Arts Centre for the entire week.

The Choral Festival started on the 3rd of June with a Children's Choir Competition. Call time was 7.30am which meant I had to leave the house by 6.30am which in turn means I have to wake up at 5.30am. Not good considering I only got home at 11.30pm the night before and slept at 2am.

On the bright side, leaving that early meant there was no traffic. On the other hand, no traffic means reaching KLPac at 7am. Thus, we look like this...

Needless to say, we got little sleep the rest of the week. In between running around to get certificates signed, selling scores, giving out food, and others, we also had to perform. Didn't go as well as it should. Oh well.
The moment the Choral Festival ended, there was a huge sigh of relief and it was time to release stress. Who needs sleep? The day after saw me doing some retail therapy at The Gardens.
Didn't buy much but had good food. It was a treat for my taste buds after one week of so-so food. Had lunch at Din Tai Fung, a Chinese Restaurant.
 Appetizer - marinated cucumbers
 Hot and Sour soup
 Xiao Long Bao
 Shrimp Fried Rice
 Black Sesame Bao
 Seafood Udon
Since I didn't manage to buy anything, the following Friday saw me at KLCC. Met up with mom for lunch and shopped. Got myself a new Coach bag (it was on sale!), 2 tops and a pair of shorts from Marks & Spencer (it was on sale too!), lingerie from La Senza and a cupcake recipe book from Kinokuniya.
Walked around while waiting for mom to finish work till my feet hurt. When mom was done, we decided to eat dinner at KLCC to avoid the traffic heading back home. Had dinner at the House of Sundanese Food.

Appetizer - fish crackers with sambal
Grilled chicken with rice, tofu and vegetable
 Deep Fried Fish
Considering the amount I spent that day, you would have thought that I would quarantine myself at home for the next 2 months or so.
Wrong!
Went back to the Gardens yet again the next day. Not quite sure why. There was a reason, I just can't recall.
What I do recall, was the huge lunch at Italiannies.
 Their bread is amazing
Random shot - I liked the lighting
 Spinach and Artichoke Formaggio
 Italiannies Mista Salad
 Classic Pizza
 Marsala Mushroom Soup
All that for 2 people. How greedy, right?
I love food.
Especially desserts.
And I have been addicted to baking cupcakes. It's just so fun despite the frustration, accidents with graters and hot trays, and washing up.
Every time I find myself in a supermarket or grocery store, I gravitate to the baking section and start buying ingredients to make cupcakes.
The last 3 times I've been baking lemon cupcakes because mom bought a whole bag of lemons and I had to finish it. By the end of it all, I was sick of lemon cupcakes and I'm sure everyone I gave them to were too. So today, I decided to try baking something new.
 Irish Coffee Cupcakes!
Complete with a shot or two or five of Baileys!
 Don't they look yummy?
Maybe I'll do Rum & Raisin Cupcakes the next time I bake.
I need to start shopping for ingredients!

| Long overdue update.
But the month of May has been really busy.
Beginning of the month saw me in Singapore with the rest of the Young KL Singers for our 2nd Music Camp.
It was tiring and fun, filled with ups and downs.
In the bus on the way down to Singapore.
Bus ride was fine except for our tour guide (he talked a lot) but he got the hint after awhile so it wasn't too bad.
To amuse myself, I decided to take photos of Tracy's bear.
 He's so cute.
When we reached Singapore, we checked in and decided to get a feel of the place around us. Walked around a bit, checked out the nearby shops and had an early dinner.
The next day was a full day of tours and a choir exchange.
 Esplanade - looks like a postcard, doesn't it? :)
 Me and Tracy
La Salle - Insanely cool architecture
Regina Chow - Such a little diva, but she's adorable when she warms up to you.
More exchanges the following day. Ended the day with a shopping marathon with shopaholic buddy Erin. Unfortunately, in our rush to make it to as many malls as possible before it all closes, we forgot to take pictures. But we left with full hands, empty wallets and satisfied hearts.
Damage: 1 dress and a top from Zara, 1 top from Warehouse, 3 other tops, amazing undies from Cotton On, and a pair of shoes from Charles & Keith. Erin almost convinced us into getting a top from Gap; the only reason we walked out empty handed was because they were out of sizes.
Met up with the boyfriend and headed back after the insane shopping marathon. Feet hurt so bad on the walk back to the hostel. Left for KL the following day.
Only to fall horribly sick with the flu and fever which pretty much left me quarantined at home for 2 whole weeks while I loaded up on medication, supplements and Vitamins. I felt like such an addict.
By the time I recovered, I was pretty much sick of soup and craved real food.
The place where I had my first solid meal in two weeks.

 Mushroom soup, again! *groan*
 Frosty Lime Juice
 Aunt's sandwich
 Thai glass noodle salad
 My fish steak
 Mom's Teriyaki chicken
Food was good, nothing spectacular though the sets made it really worth it. Shopped a bit after lunch but didn't buy much. Was feeling guilty after splurging in Singapore.
Though that didn't last long. Not with constant sales everywhere in Malaysia.
Made a trip back to Gardens and totally splurged at Marks & Spencer there. Then headed to KLCC and splurged again at Isetan and Parkson on a top and 2 pairs of killer heels - 1 from Nine West and the other from Guess. Besides, what else is there to do when you spend more than 8 hours in the mall?
Still, all that retail therapy had a reason. The 6th Young Singers Choral Festival is coming up and there is so much to be done. Too few people on the committee + too much work = Major stress = Major Retail Therapy. Nuff' said.

Do come and support the Festival by attending the public concerts - especially the one on the 6th of June because the YKLS Chamber Choir is performing then.
Of course, I can't shop all the time since I have no more money so I found an alternative. Baking. I've been doing a lot of that lately. People around me can attest to that. Especially since I like to bake but not eat, so I gift family and friends the product of my baking projects.
In the month of May, I have baked a cinnamon cake, a butter cake with orange peel and raisins, lemon cookies, 24 lemon cupcakes (made 2 days ago; only 6 left) and 24 lemon cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting (made today).
Yes, lots of lemons. Bought a whole pack and I had to find some use right?
Freshly baked - finished about 2 hours ago.
 Don't they look good?
Will definitely continue baking in the future, got lots of ingredients and a new toy to play with (an electric mixer; before this I used to mix everything by hand). Maybe I'll try something more adventurous next time. Anyone wants to be my guinea pig?

| Yes, after all this time I finally made it to The Gardens in Midvalley.
And it's pretty safe to say that it's become my new favourite mall.
Probably cause I'm kinda sick of the other malls I usually frequent.
Besides, what's not to like?
There's Coach (which carries a whole lot more variety than the one in KLCC), there's Isetan (which now carries amazing shoes), there's Marks & Spencer, Gap, Guess, and of course Robinsons.
Shopping heaven. I like.
Place reminds me of Pavilion minus the jam driving into the heart of KL and the expensive parking. Which makes love it even more.
Unfortunately or fortunately, I left the place with nothing.
Yeah, I didn't buy a thing.
Why? I don't know.
Oh well, at least we had a good lunch.
I bet you knew this was coming...
Ice cold water at Italiannies, The Gardens
Earl Grey tea with Tangerine. Really nice.
 Appetizers...
 Minestrone
Baked cheese with spinach and artichokes - Amazing!
 Caesar Salad
 Smoked Salmon Pizza
Haven't really been shopping much. Mostly been cooped up in my room.
Heading down to Singapore tomorrow though for the 2nd YKLS Music Camp.
Can't wait to really shop.
And meet up with friends.
Oh, and sing of course.
