24 memories before I turn 24.

Ok my birthday's over but better late than nothing, but I must say a lot of them were forgotten simply because I did not capture those experience into pictures...anyway here goes:

1) Did white water rafting for the first time - with CF

It was heck of an experience...should do more in the future

2) Parted with BMS, felt sad...

3) Working once a month in Kelantan, had great gastronomical adventures in the name of nasi kerabu, nasi dagang, ayam percik and thai food

4) Seeing someone...but it just died out of mutual understanding (I am not emo/sad ok :p )

In fact...I am quite happy! haha! (inside joke)

5) Had a heck of a series of workshops, conferences,CMEs this yr with Novartis...

During ASNA...I swear I didn't mean to frown! :p

6) Had wisdom tooth removal, it was a complicated one with my gum having to be sawed off to remove fractures of the inner tooth

Sorry for the gross photo....

7) participated a charity event for special children

8) Competed in league format futsal competition...won silver despite losing 2 games in the end due to lack of vital players then and referee's kayu-ness (this is not FA so can openly criticise his obvious mistakes)

9) Started part time venture last few months..

10) Gained STEP2 recognition award - so unlucky this year they decided not to reward in monetary form :p

Ok la, this is obviously not during the award recognition time la...

11) Tried going after someone...but eventually discovered something awful, hahaha! damn silly! *she never wore a ring then ok*

12) Trekked Bukit Gasing for 1st time...

13) Sing K with Daniel's ex students

14) My old friend Timothy's wedding (and a series of other fren's weddings as well - Pueh See & Sky, Kok Leong, Cousin sis') - crap reminds me of my age dy....I wanna play first! I'm just 24!~!

15) Toured KL with CF gang

16) Produced my first mv on a famous classic song 半斤八两- with the help of Daniel, Ah Zhen, Ah Wei

It was damn funny...no actual videos to be posted of cuz :p

17) Met back ex-CHS schoolmates and had constant gatherings/sports after that

18) Owns a 40D...finally willing to splash that cash (really should have done it earlier)

19) Toured Zhu Hai (worst trip I had in life, NEVER bring women for an oversea shopping vacation) and Macau (great place but unfortunate circumstances and too lil time)

Saw the venetian macau and strolled the curved escalator

20) Temporarily adopted puppies...still miss them very much

Imagine losing your siblings....sigh...( :p)

21) Novartis Gatherings...we had heck lots of brains cracking sessions and stressing times together alrite...

Team Open space...

22) Checked the dream destination mark off Japan! Woot!

In Shibuya...THE most happening place on earth with hot japanese chicks...n yes, Daniel GREEN doesn't go too well with Shibuya :p

Fell in love with Kyoto. There is just literally too much to explore in Japan. I liked Japan so much that it made me consider seriously to travel work there for few years...

Need to work harder on my japanese though, as currently the only words I know are the likes of: Shimimase, Arigato, Daijoubu, Itatakimas, Komen, Choto, Itchi....

23) Met back an old friend (Debbie!)....in Tokyo.

Odaiba...another super cool place to hang out.

24) Did Puri Kura (rmb those girly japanese stickers with your face in it?) for the first time in my life...Normally I think of it as being the most degradory thing you can do to men....stupid, emo, girly, childish (whatever adjectives you can think off) thing to do on earth...but oh well, since I am in Japan -the place where this culture originate, I might as well do it for the sake of it....

Luckily they dont have softcopy of it- if not Daniel/Ash would have posted them onto facebook and I'm doomed....

So I turned 24....crap....

Been a very long time since I last read about current economic trends and market watch (normally in Malaysia Finance Blogspot). A big warning ahead for readers regarding the current economic outlook and a growing second economic bubble (even though I have relatively few readers), as quoted from http://malaysiafinance.blogspot.com/:

"A better example would be the country bonds for Lithuania, Fitch has downgraded the country bonds 3 times this year alone and its GDP is expected to fall 18% this year, but last month this problematic Baltic nation was able to raise $1.5bn with a yield of 6.8%. Have investors lost their minds. I certainly view that country bond with a lot of trepidation as most of the Baltic region has a long way to go to restore confidence. Even Sri Lanka, with its civil unrest was able to raise $500m at a yield of 7.4%."

On the other hand, US unemployment rate rose to some 11% as of last update but markets are still rallying...

Fundamentally, the growth doesn't tally with the actual economic circumstances..a correction is bound to arrive. Just be prepared to let off your investments -unless fundamentally justified (how to discern don't ask me :p I still learning)

On second note, I was further awaken by all these games the ultra rich play and their never ending wealth, no I am not even talking about middle class made millionaires, I am talking about those guys behind the scene controlling the very economic instituitions and systems we're being toyed in today.

Further realised how inflation, federal reserve, birth of "un-gold based currencies" in 1974, reinstatement of the policy to sell derivatives in saving banks, US government decisions regarding bailout, selection of current economic/finance administrative executives link to make up a conjuration of the ultra rich's manipulation in continuous toying of the middle class and the poor in a never ending cycle. Even i don't know the exact answers to getting out of their control, but at the very least let's try to be rich businessman to feel the lesser of its effect loh...

Ban the Federal Reserve, relink the relationship of US dollar with gold, ban derivatives selling in savings banks and you will see the true US, completely messed up and devastated with trillions of debt (200 trillion USD if not mistaken), very sorry then to China (in particular) and all the other nations purchasing US bonds...

On the other hand, despite all these super filthy (understatement) stories on how devastated the US economy system is in actual, at least with US dollar you have high purchasing power la (at least at this stage). For $5 you can get yourself a very good book/ filling meal, but in Malaysia RM5 you can only buy a stack of A4 papers and write your own book. This further shows that Malaysia government is very corrupted as well- less wealth channeled to the public.

Acting healthy

As one's age reached the mid 50s, they start to get paranoid of all the possible risk of different diseases, thats when they start to flash their retirement funds for craps stuff like Organic vegetables, Superfine blender (that claims to extract out nutritious stuff that normal blender couldn't), RO water etc etc. They also start to change their diet such that they start to have salad- READ pure vegetable (without dressing) for dinner...

Dinner last sunday...

Can you imagine I was eating that AFTER almost 4 hours of consequtive futsal and bball games?! I am very sure I felt like a malnutritioned COW after that...

Act healthy la he...he just had like refills after refills of grilled lamb the day before... :p

Photography tips: 2nd curtain flash

It was kinda humiliating that after almost 5 years of photography (point&shoot camera for 2 years, advanced point&shoot 2 n half years, 1 month DSLR) that I discover about this function - perphaps previous P&S camera couldnt perform significant difference worthy of notice.

Basically there are 2 types of sequence in flash photography:
1) First curtain (normal) flash
2) Seconf curtain flash

In first curtain (normal), below is the sequence of events:
Shutter opens --> Flash shot --> Shutter opens for amount of time determined (i.e 3 seconds) --> Shutter Close

In second curtain:
Shutter opens --> pre-flash --> shutter opens for amount of time determined --> Flash shot --> Shutter Close

The major difference is when the Flash is shot, in the case of second curtain the flash is shot right before the shutter closes.

Situations you might find useful (or in pharma terms = indication):
Ever experienced where you and your friends are in a low light cosy environment where you wanted to capture the ambience but at the same time have your subject staying sharp? Normally under such circumstance, there are several solutions that most photographer would use:
(a) Set longer shutter speed
- but that would mean you are prone to blur and need to keep your camera and subjects still.
(b) Set higher ISO
-You compensate the quality of the image (high noise level), even though the best DSLR/lens can provide significantly still image at very high ISO with little noise, but you may have problem freezing moving subjects under very low light condition.
(c) Set bigger Aperture (smallest possible F value, i.e F2.8)
-It helps that with bigger aperture, the film (or photodiode to be precise) absorbs more light hence minimise blur with faster shutter speed, that that would mean compromising depth of field (imagine taking photos in large group with varying distance from camera).

Don't have L lens therefore biggest Aperture was Av3.5, even though ambience of background is captured with relatively still subjects, the resulting small depth of field (DOF) costed people from behind Joon Hun's distance to be blur even though they were standing still. This is because the focal point was at the girls (evaluative focus-not I ham sap purposely focus them) and DOF starts from there - resulting people further from them to be blur.

(d) Tripod
-Definitely the best solution, but presents mobility restrictions
(e) External Flash
-This is also the best solution and offers mobility. Point the flash towards the ceiling and let it bounce off your subject/ diffuser/ reflector to sufficiently light your subject but at the same time not overexposing your background with flash flight. Cost is the main problem-not everyone can afford a good external flash.

The cheaper solution? 2nd curtain flash - it gives you the ambience of the background and a sharp image of your subject (i.e good when photographing dancing couples under low light condition). I will show you what I meant:

2nd curtain flash. Tv 4 seconds, Av 4.0, ISO 100.

Notice I moved my camera AND finger around a lot (background blur) but the subject (finger) remains frozen.

2nd curtain flash. Tv 4 seconds, AV 4.0, ISO100. Notice that things that emit/reflect light has a trailing effect while things that don't stay still and sharp (because the flash shoots just before shutter closes, the strong flash light had masked any handshake/trailing/movement pre-flash that would otherwise result in a blur).

Kelantan mango sticky rice "fast" delivery.
Tv 6 seconds, AV5.0 (approx), ISO100.

Tv 6 seconds, AV5.0, ISO100

Notice my hand is sharp but lack opacity (like ghost) because when the shutter opens there were few seconds that my hand wasn't at where it is at the end of the shutter.

Metamorphosis-from small to big

Shutter speed was opened for 3-4 seconds with me spinning 360 degree.

Notice the subject is still very sharp, the faint background relatively sharp with ambience intact.

This is useful when photographing moving subjects in low light condition with the ambience retained.

No tripod. AV3.5, Tv 0.6 sec, ISO1600 (max variables settings). Photo taken with the photographer raising the camera to the higest point her hands could reach (whom you can see is relatively short :p), but the subjects are still blur - a situation that could be addressed with 2nd curtain flash (even though the background would still result in slight trailing lights)

Did my first in depth quiet time in like 8 months (yes, its that long), read of Romans 9:1-30, about predestination. It is about God predestined for men to succeed or suck la basically, and how men don't have the right to question God even if he predestined one to sin etc, how God created men each to serve their purpose so that God's mercy and glory will be revealed etc - I know one friend will start to say God is being selfish, and now I must say I agree too! but what the heck we are nobody to talk back to God rite. I remember somewhere in Colosians speaks of men being chosen before hand to be christian, very priviledged to know Christ but sorta unfair and "no equality" to others -in my human understanding which I cannot question God - cuz who am I to question.

Yea, this blog sounds like my heart is hardened, cuz God chose to harden my heart and I cannot blame God cuz who am I to talk back to God. I find things very contradictory, on 1 hand read about God predestining for christ to save us and how He prepared for as many to know Him as possible cuz He loves men, but on the other it is sorta predestined for one to be saved/ hated by God. I am glad I am predestined to know about God and have a relationship with Him la - who knows I end up as the one predestined to fall from grace so that eventually my fall serves as lesson to others? lol.

dunno la...if I were to understand God using my knowledge it will remain that contradicting..

I used to think hard on all these topics, but frankly speaking if we spend our lives thinking all these topics, is it really going to help the people out there? It just don't seem very practical but somehow beneficial for us..

P.s just some silly talk..

冥冥中 都早注定你富或貧
是錯永不對 真永是真
任你怎說 安守我本份

I do appreciate these verses a lot, what I derive from it is that many things were predestined, no doubt we give our best to succeed but if really fail, we must have an open heart to be willing to accept things - just like how we even though don't understand God, but ready to accept it as it is and do our best to live life to the fullest, fulfilling His purposes for us, cuz after all the truth remains and it shall be revealed when it is most appropriate ;)

I know, it is not what the verses meant but if you think deeper both are of the same essence..
