| I finally landed a job as a company nurse (reliever) for my dad's company. I was really excited to work eventhough I wasn't feeling too well last Friday. Plus eventhough I'm really happy about it, part of me was sad that I was not with my friends. I don't want to think that we won't be together that much anymore, it's too depressing. So, I was asking them to apply, hoping they would also be accepted, then there would be a better chance that they would always be with me. I hope everything goes well. | | |
| I was awaken by the sound of my alarm at 530AM. Feeling cranky from watching too much tv last night, I still decided to go to a job interview at a E-Data Services in Makati. I never really have that much of a hard time going to Makati, except today because I had to pass by Las Piñas to meet up with Monica. (When you say Las Piñas, it usually means traffic.) We were going to the job interview together, with two of my closest buds. First, we met up with Rose at Baclaran. It took us 30-45 minutes going to B, and another almost 30 minutes going to the office. It wasn't all that bad, we just had to endure the most famous air pollution Manila was very knowned for. At least the air was less polluting than "Manila" itself. But when we got to the office, we found out that they would not be scheduling us for interview that day. So Rose, LM and Che (I missed her a lot, and it was really nice seeing her again.) who got the invitation for interview, took the exam, while Monica and I strolled around Paseo de Roxas & Makati Ave (I don't remember where else coz I'm not too familiar with Makati) looking for companies to apply to. First, we went to MMC (Makati Medical Center). Makati Med's open for hiring. They are requiring for complete copies of documents such as your RLE, TOR, License number and Good Moral (good, I know I have those) but the downside was, for you to be a regular staff of the hospital, you have to undergo a 3-month training costing (tsaraaaannnn!) 8000 pesos. Is it really fair that they are asking first for a payment before they hire you? Is everything really have to be about money? You are applying for a job, you are supposed to be the one that they need, not really the other way around. Of course, as nurses, we won't be practicing nurses if we don't have a hospital to practice to. I know we need them. But I just don't get it if we have to pay our way in. Hospitals nowadays are using these so-called pre employment trainings, requiring them so they too can get sure fast money from you. We inquired for a job at the Asia Renal Care in Alabang. I've always wanted to land a job specializing hemodialysis, I've always wanted to be a hemodialysis nurse. But they too are asking for a "pre-employment kinda/training" fee of 7000 pesos and an IV therapy license to be able to get in. If you've got cash, it's ok. But how about those nurses who are looking for a job because they need to earn money? Where's the justice in that? I heard St. Luke's was also offering for a "pre-employment" training which costs about 3000+ (I can't remember, please remind me how much) pesos. I just hope I would finally land a job without paying too much. Ang hirap ng hingi ng hingi. Anyweiz, a lot of walking, and the end result was a very stiff foot. I had a high heeled (3 inches) boots on, so can you imagine the pain? All in all, even with a very painful sore, our day was great. I am scheduled for an interview again at that company tomorrow, and I won't be wearing heels. | | |
| The turkish promise ring, or puzzle ring, is a set of bands that are configured so that there is only one way to interlock them to form a single ring. If the ring is removed, the bands separate and the wearer must know how to put them back together in order to wear the ring again. This can be a daunting task unless one knows the solution. While it is generally agreed that the puzzle ring's country of origin is Turkey, the history of its use is uncertain. Some say that it was the brainstorm of a Turkish nobleman who had the ring designed for his beloved wife so that when they were apart, she would remain faithful to him.If she removed the ring to enter into an affair with another man during his absence, he would know this immediately upon his return.Of course, a clever wife would be able to outsmart him, solve the puzzle, and protect her secrets. Still others say that the ring was crafted by enterprising Turkish artisans to lure the many U.S. military men stationed in Turkey into buying these trinkets to send home to their wives or girlfriends. Perhaps the most accurate explanation for the Turkish puzzle ring is that the father of the bride gives it to the bridegroom on the morning of his wedding day.On the day of a traditional Turkish wedding, the groom has a very long wait while his bride is engaged in numerous religious and magical rites and rituals in preparation for the evening ceremony. The puzzle ring would occupy the anxious groom and hopefully allay his nervousness. Today, both women and men give the puzzle ring as a token of friendship or love, or as a promise for chastity or faithfulness. Jeph and I have our own.
