Since Saturday, July 26, 2003, I started writing blog. it's been 6 years long. Thank you Xanga for providing me with a channel for expression. I share my joy & sorrow via this cyberspace and now it's time for me to move on. Byebye!

I can say that yesterday was the time of my life!

It started with a dinner at Pasta de Waraku @ Central.

Then Lindt made me wore a set of fairy costume with a pair of detachable fairy wings, a magic wand & a tiara and walked down Clarke Quay all the way to St James.

At St James Powerhouse, they made me & a passerby birthday boy kissed each other.

I was treated to 2 shots of Sex on the Beach, a vodka, a pint of beer and a strong shot of god-knows-what

Then I was pulled onto the stage together with another bride-to-be where the comedian emcee ridiculed us asked if i am still a virgin as the whole crowd laughed on.

After some drinking & dancing, we decided that we had enough fun and then we drove to Simpang Bedok for supper!

Special thanks to Candice, Cindy, Christine, Bee Ling & Lindt for the possible wonderful night.

PS: I was so glad that they did not insist on making me drunk...

A Touching Wedding

Today I attended my colleague SE's wedding. Like any others, every wedding is unique & touching... I could feel the warmth & devotion of her & the church friends as they sang, praised and prayed so emotionally, so enthusatically.

I guessed it must have taken her quite a bit of courage & effort to memorise her vows and said it in front of all her friends with great conviction. And when it came the most touching part, that is the thank you speech, you could hear from the audience, the sniffings of many, most touched by her gratitude towards her loved ones.

judging by many of such instances, most of whom who couldnt control their tear ducts, I reckon that it'd be the best for me to leave the thank you speech to Vincent, while I pose as a beautiful vase on the stage during my big night. For one, I would not be able to remember the intended contents of my speech. Secondly, and even if i do, my voice would tremble. Otherwise I would cry upon the thought of having to leave my parents to live somewhere else (though not so far away).

These days, I suspect that I'm suffering from mild pre-marital syndrome. Believe me, I have negative visions of adapting to a totally new environment. Hubby thinks that i am being paranoid and that my brain has been infested with all kinds of incorrect impressions, all of which I learn from soap dramas. Perhaps I should give all parties the benefit of doubt and hence start a fresh life with them unassumingly and without any biasness or prejudice in order to do them some justice.

What have I spent??!!! Big hole in my pocket by end of this month. Here's the damage:

9 West evening bag - $60

Present for hubby - $120

Shoes - $20

Sports equipment - $23

netbook - $600

Facial - $90

Mani & pedi - $60-$80

Evening gown for mum- $470

Aerobics class - $80

Jap class - $250

Greenwood dinner - $40

Ma Maison dinner - $50

Useless wedding stuff - $60

On a more positive note, I got a nice pair of destinee earrings from MIL and a trendy gold necklace set from poh heng from my uncle for my wedding... ok that should offset all of my spending though not able to encash :)

Wedding is such a big familial issue, it is no longer a couple's concerns only.

All the fuss about the Chinese customs is irritating me, though not giving me much headache... YET. If it weren't too big a fuss, I don't mind doing it for the sake of the elders.

I bet Vincent's having a harder time than I am, meeting the demands of many customs from my traditional mother-in-law. (Ironically he is not even a pure Chinese based on his NRIC) hahaha... talk about traditions.

While my wedding cakes for relatives are only priced at $6 marble cakes from Bangawan Solo, Vincent has to order his $10 Teochew wedding cakes from the traditional bakery shop under the command or wish of his grandma, put up with the boss' bad temper and order a pair 28 inch wedding candles only to be rejected by my parents because the dimension is too long for the height of our tables. If that isn't enough, Vincent is told to deliver the cakes n invites personally to his some 20-plus relatives.

And I'm not spared either. I am told to spend $60 on a mini uncivilized spitoon, a sewing kit ($28!!) which implies I will sew clothes for my husband and children (yah!... wait long long), a pair of bed lights for decorative and/or symbolic purpose. The spitoon and the bed lights will probably be hidden in the most god-forsaken corner of my room in Woodlands.
