Well, this is my final blog entry. I won't be posting on here anymore, but I'm keeping the account open because I'm on a few of your protected lists. I'll still read and comment on your blogs, though. For some of you, this is coming as no surprise. I've been toying with the idea of quitting for several weeks now, but I didn't make a decision until last weekend. There are many reasons for my leaving, but the largest is that my heart isn't in it anymore. I've spent countless hours over the past several years putting my thoughts on this website, and I've written on everything from feminism to Gilmore Girls to curfew restrictions. It's been a wild, uncensored, sometimes controversial ride, and I had a lot of fun along the way.

I never wrote for anyone but myself; this blog was simply an outlet for everything that I was thinking- good, bad, and anything in between. But over the past several months I found myself increasingly watching what I wrote, and I didn't like that. I became tired of the veneers that many people put on their blogs, presenting themselves as something they aren't. There is much posturing and little substance in Xanga-land, and I think it's time for me to say farewell.

I'm tired, friends. I'm tired of trying to be fresh, thought-provoking, or at least entertaining several times a week. And there have been several recent events that put things in perspective for me. I won't miss blogging, but I will miss the lively dicussions that often occurred here. And this blog has never been a primary way for me to keep in touch with most of you; I won't lose contact with anyone because I don't write anymore.

I usually end with a quote of the day, so here is one that's apropos: "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." -Dr. Suess

For those who still need directions to my house, I refer you to this post from last January. They're buried in there somewhere. If you still have questions call my cell, and if you don't have my number call someone who does.

I went to the church's talent show last night, and somehow I managed to drag Shay along too. It was a bit different than what I expected, but we had a deck of cards, so everything turned out well. Afterwards we went to Nathan's house for his family's annual New Years' Eve extravaganza. Good food, good friends- what more can you ask for? I took some pictures, and once I get everything organized I'll put them up on Facebook (and here, if I feel like it.)

Well, I'm going to take a nap. I was up until two in the morning, and I'm about ready to fall asleep. See most of you tomorrow!

Party! (Updated schedule)

Okay homies, listen up! Next Monday night (that would be January 2nd, for those of who aren't conveniently near a calendar) we're having a game night/going-away party for Kyle at my house. That is, assuming that Kyle can make it, which I was assured that he could. So if it falls through it's all his fault.  Anyway, the specific time will be forthcoming, but I expect to see all of you there (and by there I mean here, as in my house.) Games, food, good company, and especially me- what more could you possibly want? On second thought, scratch that last item off of the list; I'd actually like to have people show up to this little shindig.

Edit: I think we'll meet between 5 and 5:30. We'll serve dinner here, so don't worry about eating before. And if you'd like to RSVP you're more than welcome to, lol.

If you have any questions, consult your magic 8-ball. Or just talk to me.

I'll update this when I actually have something to talk about. Who knew that being on break could be so boring? I could talk about politics, but I'd probably end up boring even myself. Hmm...oh, I saw Narnia last Friday with a bunch of my Findlay friends. I thought the movie was good, but not great. Andrew Adamson is a competent director, but Narnia was missing a lot of little touches that make a movie feel magical. Throughout the movie, I kept looking at the screen and thinking "Oh, that isn't what I expected," and it drew me out of the movie. Things like not having Aslan be voiced by a deep bass, or the fact that the professor looked like Lemony Snicket, or after the White Witch stabs Aslan and lifts up the dagger. No blood at all, nor was there any on Peter's sword- ever. And what's up with that ridiculous pose he strikes with his sword when facing the wolves? "Hi, I'm Peter, and I'm waving this little pointy end here at you, because, you know, it makes it so much harder for you to kill me when I can poke at you." And don't get me started on Susan's teeth; every time she smiled I wanted to gag, or at least call my brother's orthodontist. Narnia was missing the little details that draw one into the movie, and the experience just didn't work for me. I'm not even a Narnia fanboy, but I don't think I'd be interested in seeing it again. Still, there isn't much in the theaters for the whole family, and the movie is good. It just isn't a classic. Actually, the best part of the movie were the trailers for Over the Hedge and Pirates of the Carribean 2. You can find the trailers here and here, respectively. They're quite good.

Okay, I'm done rambling for tonight. I hope all of you had a very merry Christmas!
