At Charley's Behest

since we last spoke i: became a chi omega, took a horrible english class, worked approximately 240 hours at the cavalier daily, slept very little, realized how much the wesley foundation meant to me, met a gold medalist, became great friends with some of the best people at uva, came home double the amount i did last semester because shawsville (and the shawsvillians) is just that awesome, missed ireland a lot, saw ELANA over spring break, didn't fail any of my exams, drank lots of tea in kent 102, missed my high school friends, missed my uva friends, missed my gov school friends, realized i miss people a lot, decided to become officially Catholic, decided against becoming officially Catholic, saw all the king's men and didn't like it nearly as much as the book, read gone with the wind for the umpteenth time (in the middle of a snowstorm), met a gold medalist, thought a lot about poverty and class and what they really mean, attended three final rolls, failed to get tickets to the dave matthews band concert, went to foxfields, moved out of  balz (finally), went back to c-ville for two days to cover my fourth trial for the cav daily and today, i slept until 11am.

how 'bout you, mr. mann?

tomorrow is actually going to suck a little bit. i have to:

1. do my english assignment (thank goodness for extensions)
2. take my french oral final.
3. finish paradise lost (number 1 is sort of contingent upon this).
4. work at the cav
5. finish my shakespeare paper
6. do my last madison house while simultaneously being at the ireland info session
7. get over this weird virus that has taken over my life.

luckily, i have nice lunch plans.

just typing this makes me tired. that means bed and robert penn warren.

sometimes i feel like the only things i'm really good at are listening to other people's music and reading other people's books and quoting them in context. even the type of music i play, i didn't write it. it was a collaborative effort ages ago. it's frustrating to feel like i don't have a creative bone in my body.

strep throat makes me sad.

the great blair thanksgiving adventure '05 begins in twenty four hours with a kickin' road trip with daddy!

so even though i was, for various reasons, dreading leaving the dear old uva, home has been so fantastic. today was matthew's birthday party and my cousins who moved to atlanta right before i went off to school were in town so they got to come. after the party was over (and may i please say that my little brother is a mack daddy as some of the cutest girls in his year were here), hillary and i went visiting. we went to see my art teacher and she has recently adopted a baby from china and she is walking and giggling all over the place (the baby not the art teacher). hill and i then rented bridget jones' diary (strunk and white forgive me) which was sooo fun and colin firth was in it. she had to go home (boooo school nights) so now i'm just chilling with some f. scott fitzgerald and im'ing raeanne.

tomorrow i'm going to see va and then i'm taking matt to see harry potter for his birthday. i will also be able to listen to the white album and simon and garfunkel's greatest hits as many times as i like until tuesday afternoon when we leave for suffolk. i think i'm going straight from there to c-ville, though i'd prefer to have another night in shawsville and get to see bradley and possibly kat, so we'll see.

ahhhh, home sweet home.
