| Today we ventured to IKEA, the most excellent home store ever. Low and behold, they've found another way to make themselves more wonderful. Instead of taking 10 million unecessary plastic bags home with your merchandise, you now have to pay 5 cents for each plastic bag you consume because as they say, they want you to stop using them. Each donation of 5 cents goes towards planting more trees. You can also purchase a large blue reusable bag for 59 cents which you can bring back to the store in addition to any of your own bags. I'm officially in love. | | |
| So I didn't get into the program I really wanted at Case. It's disappointing but to look at the bright side of things, I guess it decreases the choices I have to make. Kent, or nothing. Check. | | |
| I've been trying rather half-assedly (yes, that's a word) to teach my body to run more than 5 minutes at a time. I don't consider myself to be a total slob since I regularly walk/hike 3-4 miles several times a week but for some reason running has never really caught on for me. Anyway, I completed a rather satisfying run through the woods behind our neighborhood and on the way back I decided to walk along the train tracks. Since I've never really been at the peak of the tracks before, I never noticed the rather large marsh on the north end and the end of my run provided a nice surprise...I saw 10 little turtles sitting on a log, tanning. When one of them heard me, it plopped into the water and knocked the other ones off, which also plopped into the water like dominoes. I love nature. | | |
| Having two dogs isn't always easy. Pilates can be difficult with a 10-month-old puppy trying to chew my ponytail. It's frustrating to have muddy pawprints on my lovely yellow yoga mat. It's hard to travel. There's dog hair on EVERYTHING. They occasionally chew up my only flip-flops. They can be stinky, no matter how many times I bathe them, and then inevitably stink up any room they spend a significant amount of time in. But then a sappy commercial comes along to remind me why exactly I picked up these two furry canines. I was in tears after watching a Pedigree Dog Food advertisement showing dogs sitting in the pound saying, "I know how to roll over. I know how to sit and stay. I know I'm a good dog. But what I don't know is why I'm here. I just want to go home." Sigh. And then comes the realization that I'm trapped for the rest of my life. I will never, ever be able to pass up a mangy mutt in need of a home. On another note, home is a difficult place to find nowadays. We are stuck in a limbo between a future in Ohio and the present in Georgia and everything is uncertain. Living in this house has become more and more difficult and I can't help but be incredibly sad at the current state of existence. I never planned for this path, and somehow I feel its headed for a dead-end. | | |
| This warning was on the packaging of the jumprope I bought: "Consult your doctor before starting any exercise program. Exercise programs of any kind present an inherent danger to the participant. Serious or fatal injury can occur. All equipment is intended to be used by adults and only in the manner shown. Anyone under the age of 16 should have adult supervision." | | |
