LEAVING THE COUNTRY

I'm leaving the country

I'm leaving today

Taking the noon train

Down the coast through L.A.

It's not just a weekend

A simple getaway

I'm leaving the country

I'm leaving today

Mexico's fine this time of year

Stars are divine in the south hemisphere

Deserted south pacific

Isle off the charts

There's where I'll find

The pieces of my, my broken heart

I'm leaving the country

I'm leaving today

Jumping the queen's ship

And I'm off to Calais

Tomorrow is waiting

I shouldn't be late

I'm leaving the country

I'm leaving today

Summer in France outside Paris

An autumn romance of the Caspian Sea

A Greek tragedy, I imagine my part

There's where I'll find

The pieces of my, my broken heart

I'm leaving the country

I'm leaving today

I'm bound for nowhere

And nowhere I'll stay

It's not a vacation

It's no holiday

I'm leaving the country

I'm leaving today

I'm leaving the country

I'm leaving today

I've had this cd for a while now, yet I don't really remember ever hearing this song, until I started making my travel playlist tonight.  Its funny how appropriate it is for my life right now.

Today was interesting.  I woke up early to go to breakfast only to have mom cancel on me, so I went back to sleep and stayed in bed until 11.  I woke up then, to find out that our cell phone service had been disconnected because they forgot to pay their half of the bill.  I had to figure all that out with dad and then finally got my phone working again.  I took a shower, cleaned my room, and finished up my laundry.  Caitlin and I had dinner with Dad at McAlisters, which was surprisingly nice and normal.  When I got home, Mom was asleep on the couch so we missed church.  She woke up in enough time to make a quick Target run for the last of my trip stuff, and then we stopped over at Starbucks so I could tell Sonia good-bye.

I finally got everything packed.  It helped to actually have dry clothes and all of the stuff I needed from the store.  Now I'm getting ready to activate my international SIM card from Cingular so I don't have to mess with phone cards this summer.  Although the rates are still quite high so I won't be talking on the phone except to call and tell them I'm alive.

We have to be at UINDY around 9:30 in the morning, but we don't actually leave the US until 7pm; we are driving to Chicago to catch our flight there because it was cheaper.

Check the xanga I set up for my travels, I'll be back on this one in about two weeks.

The Catcher in the Rye

Today was such a fun day.

I got to hang out with Sonia; we got Starbucks, new hair, and dinner at Moe's.

I listened to the entire Jump double disc album.

I started packing for Europe.

I watched the Gilmore Girls season finale-which actually wasn't that good-and then Pepper Dennis.

I read another third of Catcher in the Rye and then Caitlin surprised me with a Banana Split when she got home from Dairy Queen.

It was so nice to not have to be anywhere or think about anything like global politics or twentieth century history or the stylistic characteristics of a minute art movement during the 1930s.

Tomorrow I have planned much of the same.  Madre and I are getting blueberry pancakes at Original Pancake House, then I'm packing for a bit, going to see Stick It with Sonia, packing some more, eating dinner with Dad and Caitlin, running errands for my trip, going to church, and then packing some more.

For now, I'm getting in bed with my Jump and Catcher in the Rye and am going to enjoy a little relaxation for once.

It Came!

Yesterday was awful, but completely redeemed by the arrival of my copy of Jump Little Children's Live at the Dock Street double disc acoustic album, which was not supposed to get here until Friday.

I spent all day at UINDY with Mom.  I had my first spring term class from 9-12 and then sat in the same chair in the art department office for about 5 hours.  I was miserable.  I've got a really bad sinus headache that refuses to go away, and I haven't slept well in over 3 weeks, so I felt horrible.  We were supposed to go home around 1, but she just refused to leave.  I was furious.  I ended up coming home and sleeping from 6:30 until she woke me up at 9 to watch Everwood.  Then she guilted me into staying up until 1 to help her finish her grades.

I didn't even find my Jump cd until I was headed up to bed around 1-someone had put the packages on the stairs and I didn't see them-but I listened to all of the first disc and part of the second before I fell asleep.  It is amazing.  Totally worth the $22 that I won't get to spend in Europe.  Now I have something to listen to on the train.

I was woken up around 7 this morning to get stuff done before madre left for work, since she has to go back and make my Athens payment and drop off my ISIC card application, since we missed the lady yesterday.  I slept until 10 and just got out of the shower.  Now my plan for the day is to get my room cleaned up since it is a mess, then I have to unpack, do laundry, and start the repacking process for Thursday.  I also need a haircut and massage, and have tons of errands to run.

The Gilmore Girls season finale is on tonight!

Home at last!

Although its only for 3 days.  I leave for Europe on Thursday.

Spring Term classes start at approximately 9:00 Monday morning.  Which means I got a break of exactly one day, and it consisted of sitting in the car for 12 hours and missing half of a very important Grey's Anatomy.

Oh well, at least I'm done with regular school.  I still can't believe that Sophomore year is over, it feels like it should only be fall break.  Time really has flown.  College will be over before I know it...and then I'll have to get a job and act like a grown up.   At least Grad school will delay that transition a few more years.

Must get some sleep...have to be up at the crack of dawn to be at school downtown with the madre.
