| Initially I was gonna start blogging every few days, but as u can c I’ve been xtremely lazy this xmas holiday in hk. Perhaps I had too much to do, I flew to S’pore the very next day after I touched down for my vacation and mate’s wedding. Wow I have never felt this pampered before. BingBing drove me around in her SEXY black Honda, took me to this local chilli crab place and it was delicious. I polished 5 bowls of crab noodles in 10 min haha. We then went to Clarke Quay, Geylang (red light dist.) and Changyi (tranny town). It was just hilarious. Shue and Danny took me to more local spore food centres and i ate like a pig. We had laksa, brata, chao gwai diou, black carrot cake, Hainan chicken and @£$”£!%. O I tried this drink called Milo Dinosaur and teh Chino, absolutely love the names. Danny recommended the wine bar up on 70th floor in Swisshotel and hello, the view was gorgeous, especially with a glass of wine and cigar :P. It was the first friend wedding I’ve attended. I felt really happy for you TK, wish u “white hair till old” Although it wasn’t a proper traditional wedding, my mate wore a red shirt with flower pattern from Ted Baker, a dinner jacket, blue jeans and leather shoes (he was thinking of a white pair of trainer). He’s probably one of the most audacious Spore u’ll ever meet. Unfortunately I didn’t have enuf time to go clubbing :( the ladies were surprisingly fit in Clarke Quay and outside M.o.S haha. And somehow I managed to watch a midnight movie :P On the grand scheme of things, the trip was great. Thank you everyone for your hospitality especially BingBing for offering her accommodation at the 5 star Oriental keke. The story doesn’t end here - the biggest highlight of the trip was my journey back to hk. As u knoe I get really chatty and decided to chat with my neighbouring passenger. Well it paid off coz that’s how I met a new friend, Lila :) We got along so well that it seemed like we’ve been friends forever. Moral of the story, ur best friend could be the person sitting next to u… Coz there’s no such thing as strangers, they r friends u haven’t met. | | |
| Last weekend was sure awesome… Friday night was Bing Bing’s bday and as usual celebration meant dinner. Went to Viet Grill and the food was brilliant. They lit up these flammable gel to keep the dishes hot. At first we thought it’s brilliant until we realise the dish was surrounded by a wall of flame, how da fuck are we meant to snatch our food without roasting our fingers?! And following the “bonfire”, we headed over to this bar in Waterloo. It was fabulous. We were greeted by this metro-sexual manager and the ambient music, played live, was perfect. Easy-listening tunes like Girl from Ipanema is exactly what I need on Fri night, not JT’s My Love. Seriously, save that for Sat nite. And someone suggested the never ever game (felt we’ve been playing this forever, auditors/bankers just loves routines :P). Well it was ME who came up with juicy questions, every1 anticipated my turn the whole nite (perhaps not the ladies hehe) To be honest, I was really looking forward to Saturday since last weekend. It was xfm winter festival in Brixton with bad boyz like Kooks, Kasabian and Feeling. Like seriously this was as genuine as a gig can get. Ppl were hopping around like bunnies, pushing each other, throwing pints, bottles and lifting up ur frds. I was quite horrified when Harper fell, we decided to be prudent (that’s what we learn in accounting) and went to the back before Kasabian was on. Tenacious D was the surprised guest for the nite and Jack Black sang/yell on the top of his voice. Apart from them, the quality of other bands, playing live was truly world-class. It made me love rock even more. Sunday was relaxing, but it was the last day to see Clare. She’ll be missed dearly by all of us, the Singaporean-pwc group, despite she probably missed this “boy” more than missing us. But yea it’s scary when friends leave, these changes constantly reminds you that time moves at a ridiculous pace. There’s a chance she mite return in 2 yrs time and in few more yrs, she could well be designing me an awesome home :) I’ll have to work hard to afford her charge rate! | | |
| All of a sudden I feel this urge to write an entry. Fair enough there's nth to do until dinner, at least it's a nice view here up on the 20th. It's been 3 weeks now since my placement started and so far things are ok. Went to this poker night organised by our fellow colleagues, it was awesome haha. I came 3rd out of 30 ppl, decent effort for a n00b. Have to admit i nearly shat myself when it was down to a couple of us. Just love the whole atmosphere with a proper table, dealer, chips and ppl with these mean poker face. Perhaps it was the free booze and a fag, never hurts... Curry nite was hilarious, i am beginning to appreciate british banter and humuor. It's sth that will take me another yr or so to mimic, but at least I get most of the jokes... The amount of beer they drank for dinner itself was obscene, 3 massive cobra beers, fuck me... I could've passed out in the restaurant! (yea ok i am lightweight) Apart from work, met a couple of new friends, generous and fun. Even met a potential flatmate, tho I've been getting loads of sticks about me hitting on HIM. It's all good fun tho, realli need a breather after 5 days work. But a lot of these ppl have an amazing career path, which motivates me. I decide to aim for a first now in uni, that's how influential they are haha. But there's still mixed-feelings, sth i honestly need to get over with to fully enjoy this Xmas....... | | |
| Here I am, sitting on a train heading back to newcastle for the CNY weekend. The past few weeks have been¡K too difficult to describe in words. Well I have been working 9 ¡V 11 every week day (apart from Friday fortunately). Get home around 12, rush to bed and wake up to another 12, 13 hours of work. Get the picture? Seriously dunno wtf this is all about, it¡¦s no where as bad as bankers, but our pay is peanuts relatively. There¡¦s no overtime bonus and no credit since everyone on the team works more or less the same hours. Basically it¡¦s shit. On the brightside, this makes exam revision a much easier task. And perhaps I did learn a lot from this client, something that most ppl of my age have never experienced. But what¡¦s the difference, learning and experiencing it now, compared to getting similar exposure after graduation. I really don¡¦t know¡K fingers crossed that all this is worth it for a better future. | | |
| Sitting in office after the hols with no work, f that… The skiing was awesome, have to do it again at some cheaper resort. Brief summary of each day:
Day 1
Taxi to Gatwick at 4 in the morning and lectured by the bored driver about what constitutes the UK, omfg just drive. Arrived at Saas Fee after an hour flight and 4 hrs on the road. Our rooms were very decent, with a terrace facing the nursery slope. Went to pick up our ski equipment which was a chaos. The damn boots wouldn’t fit and the staff were scolding at each other in german, shizen this and that. Didn’t do much, slept right after dinner.

Day 2
Split into groups of 2, danny and me skiing at the nursery coz the lifts were suspended due to heavy winds. Which was a good thing, explain later on… It felt I got the techniques in me, though I haven’t ski for 10 yrs. Felt extremely exhausted after first day already damn it, but it was real good fun. For us, après-ski meant scrabble and asshole (mod big2)… Dinner time was hilarious with us talking super loud. Some granny came up to us and said “u sure had a great time”, well yea thanks we did lol… Then we started playing drinking scrabble and transformed into dirty scrabble which I passed.

Day 3
Wohoo lifts to mountains were running and I shot up to the top with Danny. Everything was good, tripped a few times until we reached this bit. F it was steep, thought it was a facking cliff until closer look reveals it’s a slope. I was shitting myself but seeing danny gliding effortlessly I pushed on and yea I fall again. No biggie, I got up and started picking up enormous speed automatically. I was fking charging down at a good 40miles, not daring to stop, teeth clenched, and my body taut. Luckily I didn’t fall, cannot imagine what would happen if I did. But then I didn’t dare going up again in the afternoon, stayed down at the nursery. For the whole day and night I couldn’t get rid of that moment, charging down at lethal speed.

Day 4
After yesterday I not dare to go up yet, so I practiced more down at the nursery. Went and ski with the other lot, Dennis and Wui Yi. I was thinking there’s no way they can ski up in the mountain, they just started skiing since day 1. As for the snowboarding pair Rog and Luke, they were progressing much quicker. For dinner we out for some cheese fondue, the apple flavour sauce was delicious.

Day 5
I decided to overcome my fear and conquer the mountain and f yea I did. Skiied from top to bottom twice that day, o baby what a feeling. It was tough hard work, but it felt incredible. Had lunch up at the world’s highest rotating restaurant . After dinner went on pub crawling with the hotel. It was such a fun night starting from the 2nd bar. Richy was trying to get us to play drinking game 21 while Wuiyi and Danny tried to shut him up and explain Ping Pong Wa. I was like wTf… and in came Dennis with 3 jugs of beer for 5 ppl, more wtf. Fortunately more ppl came and we started playing 21, chicken goggle, hand tapping, the wicket. We got reall fuct up when one of the father came over with 2 extra jugs. Danny was passing out and headed home with Dennis nearing the top. By the time we got to next bar, hoho dennis was dancing on the table, doing his trademark ‘no’, walking into some random room and puking everywhere. Only Wui yi and me survived all the way to an underground club called poison.

Day 6
Tried a bit of snow boarding in the morning, thx to Ian. Skied down the mountain for the last time. Night was kinda sad coz we had to leave the next day. Plus I lost my hoodie on my jacket and my friggin etymotic earphones which was in the jacket from clubbing. Not a very happy day.
Well Christmas was peaceful, stayed in but then boxing day sale was mad. New Year’s Eve down at London Eye with Wendy. And that’s the end of my holiday! | | |
