Dear Family and Friends,
Each year since 2002 we have asked for your help each year with our fund-raising efforts for Juvenile Diabetes. As you know, our son Tyler was diagnosed with Type 1 (Juvenile Diabetes) when he was 11 years old in 2001 This was a great shock for him and for us. At that time, we were not familiar with this deadly disease.
Tyler was admitted to Hasbro Hospital where we learned that Type 1 diabetes occurs when the pancreas stops producing insulin to breakdown the body=s sugar. The body=s blood sugar is then unstable B too high or too low; consequences are life threatening. To maintain blood sugar control, Tyler must inject insulin with every meals and each snacks. This keeps him alive.
So what is this like for a 15 year old boy? Tyler has been a champion and has learned to manage his illness and the responsibilities that accompany it. He hopes that some day there will be a cure. Tyler understands that the only way out of Juvenile Diabetes (Type 1), is to find a cure. You can not outgrow it.
Please help our team, Tyler=s Trekkers, raise money in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes on September 25, 2005, at Roger Williams Park, Providence, 10 a.m. Each year our team has grown in size and the amount of funds raised. We are excited to report that 80% of the money raised by JDRF goes to research and education.
We invite you to join us on the walk or to make a donation. If you would like to walk, please telephone and we can send you a registration form. Or, simply go on-line to www.jdrf.org and register with our team, Tyler=s Trekkers.
To make a donation, please send a check or money order to our address, written to J.D.R.F. All donations, small and large, are greatly appreciated. Thank you again for any help you can offer.
All the best,
Joe & Marie Casale
AIt=s hard to imagine that I used to go out and play for hours, and play without bringing my snacks and shots. I dream of living like that again. I hope others will not have to experience this different and difficult lifestyle.
