The Rawa Getaway...

The weekend getaway to Pulau Rawa, which is off Mersing, Malaysia, was an awesome one. We left friday night, reached at 2am and really sleepy...

This is what I did the entire day...

PA083417    PA083415

PA083388    PA083387

PA083403    PA083402

after the tiring climb...back to doing absolutely nothing!!

PA083405    PA083410

And at night...

PA083419

PA093446

This is Rawa...

PA093454    PA093458

Sad to leave...but still loved the relaxing weekend!

PA093463    PA093467

This is the boat we took and it's really slow...

PA093451

but we still managed to arrive at Rawa...and this is where we stayed...

PA083381

okay, it is definitely not a 5 star resort and it is really basic as it is still not as commercialised, so there are not many people there, so it is almost your private beach! It's amazing!

I went with 2 of my colleagues, Lisa and Fionna, to this trip, and the rest of the peeps were Lisa's friends, who are all from Germany. It happened to be one of their birthdays, Martin, hence the Germans celebrated his birthday...They are all like 24 years old, haha...i feel so old. This is what they gave him...

PA083371    PA083380

This is wrapped by Bernd. They had no wrapping paper, so he picked the leaves nearby and wrapped it and secured it with skewers. And he decorated the surrounding areas with the additional leaves. haha...so creative.

And not forgetting the little Rawanian...

PA083353

the beach bum!

I would definitely recommend this place...for a quiet and private getaway. :)

So Gaudi-fied

It's been a very long time ever since I blogged. ;p

I had an amazing trip to the city of Antonio Gaudi, who is an amazing architect...legendary I would say. Gaudi "painted" the city of Barcelona with trails of his architectural work. I love Gaudi...not in terms of the style or era of the buildings, but of the train of thought that he had in the late 17th to early 18th century, whereby the technology is not that advanced as now, and his work is all drawn with pencil and paper...and he can come up with such marvellous creations!

Even if you are not an architect and may not know the history or the reasons why he did or his inspirations, you will definitely be marvelled by the shear size and the amount of detail that you can see in his work. He not only designs apartment buildings, he also designed the famous cathedral - Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia. Just by looking at the detailing of the cathedral...it is absolutely astounding!

There is just too much to blog about...will do so slowly...;p But just to show a few photos...

P9240696 La Pedrera aka Casa Mila

P9240868 Top of Casa Mila

P9282249 Spires of Sagrada Familia

P9282094 One of the facades of Sagrada Familia

P9292676 Benches at Parc Guell

P9292724 Another view of Parc Guell

Of course besides ogling Gaudi's work, there are also other famous architects that contributed to Barcelona...for instance...

P9261291 Barcelona Pavilion by Mies van der Rohe

P9303144 Mercat de Santa Caterina by Enric Miralles

P9292639 Palau de la Musica Catalana by Domenech i Montaner

barcelona Interior of Palau de la Musica Catalana where most elements portray that music and architecture can exist together, ie. movement

I've taken too many photos to share here, but I will try to share my experience and my knowledge more at a later stage.

marvelous cream

today is the pre-opening sale of this dessert ice cream shop called 'marvelous cream'. there is only one shop in asia which is in singapore. the rest is in japan, quite a few shops.

http://www.marvelouscream.com/

above is the website. it is like cold stone or cold rock. whatever it is called. haha...that is the ice cream part. i tried the 'macaron rouge framboise'.

09

they have the premium parfaits which are like ice cream in cake form. and they have layers of flavour.

p_p_4set

really nice. although i must say it is a bit pricy. ice cream smallest size is $4.90, if u wan in a cup. if u wan in a waffle cone, it is $5.90. the premium parfaits are $5.90. and the serving is quite small. i guess good to try, but not something you will crave i guess?

this shop is at citilink...opposite OCBC bank / 7 eleven. go try it if you are there! but be mindful that you might be caught in the singaporean 'new-thing-must-try" queue. hehe.
