I decided to watch the premier of the apprentice tonight, but not just because many of my coworkers love it.  I haven't watched any of the previous seasons, but this one seemed interesting. The theme was book smart (college grads) vs street smart (only high school grads).  The book smarts team named themselves Magna (for Magna Cum Laude), smart but cheesy.  The street smarts team named themselves Net Worth (because their net worth was 3 times as much as the book smarts team), pretty good name I think. Each team had to market and sell a new burger for Burger King.  Turned out Net Worth won, which didn't surprise me very much.  They just had more of a team bond and more to prove.  The Magna team didn't work as well together, egos got in the way, and they did in fact lack street smarts. Hopefully I'm not like that in the business world. Bonus: By the end of the show I got Vinny addicted to it, and now he can't wait until next week. mwahahahah.

For my random thought of the day, I've been musing over what different colors of roses mean, so here's a list I found on google:
Red Roses = Love, Respect, Courage, Desire, Passion
Yellow Roses = Joy, Gladness, Freedom, friendship, jealousy, sympathy, happiness, "Try To Care"
Pink/Peach Roses = Gratitude, Thankful, Appreciation, Admiration or Sympathy, Gentleness, Elegance, Modesty, Desire
White Roses = Reverence, Purity, Secrecy, Innocence, Bridal, "Your Heavenly", Humility, Worthiness
Two Roses Joined Together (taped, wired, sewn, or grown) = Engagement, Or Coming Marriage
Red and White Roses Together = Unity, Bonded Together, Togetherness
Black Roses = Elegance, Death, Mourning, Depression, Bad Omen, Fortune, Coming Luck
Orange Rose = Fascination, Admiration, Cuteness
Burgundy Roses = "Unconscious Beauty"
Purple Roses = Enchantment, Caution, Royalty, Majestic
Blue Roses = "Holder Of Dreams", Fantasy, Tranquility
Hybrid Tea Roses = "I Will Remember You Always"
Single Red Rose Not In Full Bloom = Simplicity
Single Red Rose In Bloom = "I Love You", "I Love You Still", "I Will Always Love You"
Bouquet Of Red Roses = Gratitude, "Thinking Of You"
Withered White Roses = Fleeting Beauty and "You Made No Impression"
Rose Leaves (any color) = Hope, Faithfulness, Playful
Rose Crowns = Rewards, Virtues, Royalty
Thorn Crowns = Punishment, Pain, Torture

That said, I don't really get roses. But that's ok since I'm kind of allergic to flowers anyway. However while shopping around online I found a website that listed a bunch of gifts for that special guy in your life, and one of the suggestions was a bunch of roses.  Is it just me or is it kind of weird to get a guy flowers?

ho ho ho! merry xmas to everybody! :)

hope you got everything on your xmas wish list. as for me, oops i didn't write one. that's too bad. maybe i can make one up now, and then get everything for myself between now and new years. or is that cheating? nah, it's just being an independent adult who spoils herself =)

speaking of which, i feel super old cuz i started a retirement fund today. now i can't withdraw that money until i'm 59 1/2!!!! sniff sniff :(

still looking for a new apartment in pasadena. seems like there's always something wrong with every place i've seen so far, and i've seen a lot of places.  once the guy started complaining about his recent divorce and i was like whoa there, i do NOT need to deal with your issues on top of mine! this other time, the closet was like tiny...i'm talking it isn't enough to fit my dresses nevermind everything else. then there are the plain messy places. 'nuff said.  so i'm still on the hunt, wish me luck that i find a place soon...hmmm maybe that should be on my xmas wish list...

i appear to have slacked off again. bad janet. hmmm maybe it's work. at least it's almost xmas and new years. hurrah for 3 day weekends :) dang it i have't finished my xmas shopping and now i have to go battle the crazy people at the mall. too late to shop online? hmmm i think not!

some fun facts from a website i'm reading (on guys and marriage):

  • 46% say their work schedules make it tough to date much
  • 74% say they wanted to be free to have fun at this stage in their lives
  • 47% don’t want to marry until they own a home
  • 40% postpone marriage until they can afford a “nice” wedding
  • 36% said they wanted to play the field (hahaha)

and finally, the men least likely to marry are also the men most likely to mistrust women to be honest about past relationships. interesting...

Yes folks, I am ALIVE! =)

I am working as an analyst in a consulting company in Pasadena. Which means work hard, play hard! on the agenda is a company laker game on wednesday and a holiday party on saturday (open bar? i hope so!) NOT that i'm a lush because i'm past that era of my life...oooh it also means i get business cards, how exciting is that?!

saw the incredibles with bubba and i honestly have to admit that i liked it. or it could have been all the candy i ate that made it good. =P so anyway, if you're bored, what the heck, go out and see it! i bet there will be an incredibles 2.

take the perfumality quiz!
apparently i should get: beyond paradise, max mara, and tommy girl
but who are we kidding, i'm just gonna stick with the ones i already know i like/own because i still haven't made it through a bottle of anything i've ever bought

Soooo...the quick catch up since my last update:

Happy 4th of July!
I turned the big 22!
I visited China, came back SARS-free!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Also went snowboarding up at Mammoth with the Flems a couple weeks ago. First time for bert and aleks but they both survived...they even got decently good by the end of the day. bert was almost ready to graduate from the bunny slope =) met up with iggy, evan, and steven on the slopes, but they kicked our butts down! partied it up in the evening...played some asshole, flip cup...good old times! BUT didn't get to play beer pong because they forgot to bring the ping pong balls, and there wasn't any shop in the whole of mammoth that sold ping pong balls. of course steven was intense: he was ready to drive the 80 miles to bishop, the closest town with ping pong balls, even called his mom to get the phone number to call the kmart to MAKE sure they had them in stock. but we didn't need it anyway...there were enough fun and games...igor was so wasted he was passed out by 10pm!!
