Or you're not american.  Whatever.

Currently recovering from a stomach flu.

On a happy note, the doc said my lungs and liver are doing alright (although my liver is slightly beat up).

I now have medical approval to smoke a pack a day and drink a keg a week.

I think.

I hope everyone is recovering from their turkey induced coma.

Just to formalize things, Happy Thanksgiving.  And to you up in frozen canuckistan, shut up, I know you guys had thanksgiving a month ago.  I just don't care. ;)

Anyway, I guess it's offically the start of the holiday season.  I found my Santa Hat, and my It's a Punk Christmas CD.  Time to begin tormenting my parents.  Besides, it'll drown out that god damn "Now That's Music!  Vol 27" that Kim is playing so bloodly loud.

I almost killed myself deep frying a turkey.  Go me.

As someone who spends a profilic ammount of time infront of a computer, I have to find ways to entertain myself.  Being a somewhat antisocial person in real life, I tend to burn time in forums.  It's kind of odd really, I'm a pretty quiet mofo usually, but I'm a persistant postwhore online.  It's probably because I feel more comfortable expressing myself via text, than actually speaking.  Although I do have a damn sexy voice.

I read a ton of forums, GS, Ars, Slashdot, Fark, Gateworld, and SA for the most part.  I don't post on SA, because I'm too much of a cheap bastard to get a sub.  One of the things I've noticed, is the gradual evolution of an online community.  My first major experience with that sort of thing was gemstone of course.  Over the years I've gone from lurker, to postwhore, and in that time, I've watched the community grow more and more close knit, culminating in Simucon.  You know, that thing I go to every now and then and get drunk as shit for a few days straight.

The same thing has happened with Ars and Fark.  It all started with one guy realizing a bunch of his/her fellow posters lived in driving distance, and decided to hold a barbeque, or something similar.  The Arsians have been kicking around the idea of a convention in the past few months.  Neat.

The other thing I've noticed, is every community has it's own lingo, and quirks.  One of the stranger ones I've seen, are the 'shippers' on Gateworld, who are constantly wishing O'Neill will hook up with Carter.  That of course referring to one of the newest shows I've picked up, Stargate SG-1, and Atlantis.  On Ars there's a multitude of weird yet highly amusing crap.  One of my favorites is, "Don't stick it in the crazy." which refers leaving crazy girls alone, it's not worth it.  Or calling the Soap Box (one of the subforums devoted to politics) 'teh bad place'.

Then there's the world of GS.  For the most part, all the lingo refers to the game itself, and I can't think of anything that's spawned specifically for the forum.  There's talk of CM, TWC, Pures, Squares, fogging, so on so forth.  That gibberish translates to Combat Manuevers, Two-Weapon Combat, Spell Casting Professions [Wizards, Sorcerers, Clerics, Empaths], combat professions [Warriors, Rogues], and teleportation.

In reality, any group of people is bound to establish their own rules for communication.  A few years ago, there was this radio commerical where two girls were talking about *something* but you couldn't figure it out based on the crap they were saying.  An announcer would then say something like, "Friends, the only people who know what the hell you're talking about."

I'm not really sure what the point of this was, but it did take up a lot of space, didn't it?  More importantly, it burned four minutes of my time, which is dragging ass because this fucking download is moving slower than a one legged man with a fractured hip.

Moral of the story?  People online are fucking strange.

I forgot to do this Thursday, so I might as well do it now.

I Listened to These Songs Too Many Fucking Times This Week:

1. Pi Soundtrack - Bucephalus Bouncing Ball
2. RHCP - Venice Queen
3. A Perfect Circle - Pet Remix [The actual song name is just too fucking long to type out]
4. Infradig - Benediction
5. New Found Glory - Ballad For The Lost Romantic

I went in the house to get the clip
With my Mac10 on the side of my hip
I bailed outside and pointed my weapon
Just as I thought, the fools kept steppin
