blowing off some dust

Ummm wow.... it's been over a year since my last update... oh well, here goes:

Since my last post, I've changed jobs and now work as an ISA (that's Information systems Administrator to all you non-techies) for a firm in NYC. Things have been going well and I finally have a new mouse at home (Razer Diamondback) and work (Razer Copperhead)... yes, both are lefty friendly

I've pretty much dropped Kal-Online and now enjoy a life outside that digital prison, though I still play the occasional NFS:C or CS:S. There's been a lot of good things going on with my personal life as of late, but I don't really feel comfy spilling such info on myself into this series of tubes... Let's just say I will be beginning a new chapter in my life and that I won't be alone in it

Oh! I also obtained the domain thebestthingever.com and intend to make it a site with all the latest stuff that I deem cool or "must-have". You can check out the demo site at www.thebestthingever.com/tbte

That's about it for now...

Being "left" out...
So I'm at work today and my boss tells me his comp at home is having issues that must be fixed since he does some work at home... We go to his house and sure enough, Murphy's law kicks in right on time:

-his comp is full of trojan horses and viruses

-he uses AOL

-he has a Logitech mouse that is MOLDED for right handed people (I'm a lefty)

-his internet connectivity is screwed

Now the average person might say "so what", but a techie would say "oh you poor bastard"... Basically it came down to a call to an AOL rep from Bummfuck, Tennessee who just kept saying things like "yep" and "uh huh" while I tried analyzing the whole thing myself... In the end I said "fuck it", gave up, and told the boss it was time to re-format. Bottom line: Leave your work at the office

On a seperate note, I saw an albino cockroach in the cafeteria... Yea, I was thinking the same thing you are now... WTF?!

Speaking of right-handed mice, I'd just like to say that Logitech now gets a thumbs down in my book... Way back in the day, mice were mice and that was it, but now that optical, wireless, rechargeable, sentient mice are here, businesses are kicking lefty's in the nuts, ON PURPOSE!

Hell the MX700 I currently use has thumb buttons for the right hand and is molded accordingly... YOU TRY USING THOSE BUTTONS WITH YOUR PINKY!!

Why can't they make a decent lefty mouse? Because money talks and lefty's walk... The lame left handed mice that companies attempt to push out are rip offs and don't have the same craftsmanship or quality that right handed mice at half the price offer. Don't believe me?

Right handed people don't know how good they have it. Honestly, think about how many things are made for right handed people:

-can openers
-knives (check which side the blade grooves are on when you hold a knife)
-PDAs
-scissors
-screws (righty tighty, lefty loosey)
-computer keyboards (which side is the num pad on?)
-metro card readers (for those in NY)

The list goes on and on... Even stuff I can get made for left handed people always costs more then their right handed counterparts (ie: my guitar cost TWICE as much as the same model for right handed people).

That's why I decided to get a Razer Diamondback... It's the first universal mouse I've seen with thumb triggers for both right handed people and left handed people, you can disable whichever ones you don't want, and it works way better then my MX700 (1600dpi compared to 800dpi) at a FAIR price. That's basically my way of giving the finger to Logitech... UP YOURS YOU RIGHT HAND LOVING TOASTERS!! :p

Games and Gas...

So I've become pretty much addicted to this game called Kal-Online. It's pretty much just "beat up some bad guys, get better stuff, get stronger, beat up more bad guys"... The cycle is repetitive, but it's the community (OCCult) I'm in when I play that makes it all worthwhile. I'm also getting frustrated with the lack of decent weather in my area, all the roads are covered with ice... It is really screwing me over on messing around with my R/C... Oh I forgot to mention that... Yeah, I have this Nitro powered demon on mini-wheels... It does 64mph, can beat my normal car to the quarter mile, and is only 1/10 the size... Anyway, once the weather clears up, I plan to take the thing out and start racing it on a few courses. Up until now it has just been smashing into curbs :/

Enough bitching and moaning from me for one day.

(insert lame welcome title here)

Well I guess I should start off by saying hi to anyone who gives half a damn to read the blog of another "Joe Shmo". No bright colors and exciting stories here people, this blog is being sold "as is"... And no, I don't accept checks...

This blog is being created to express the way I'm feeling at a certain point in time, or to share an experience that I think is good enough to post about.

Right now, I've got a few hobbies (check the profile) and I have a decent array of skills in different fields, but I just feel like I'm missing something. There's nothing exactly wrong with me (physically atleast, mentally might be a different story according to friends :p ), but it just seems impossible to be satisfied... Therein lies humanities greatest strength and greatest flaw. To always strive to do more is the spark of innovation, but at the same time it never seems to be "good enough". I guess I could add blogging to the list now ;)
