today is monumental. not only is it my last day at work but it is the last day i will post from this xanga. you complete me. tear.

so let's asses the year:

-leaving dc 600 dolllars in the hole b/c of stupid apt instead of up 400
-actually had a functional work persona (loose use of term functional)
-made friends completely on my own instead of latching onto ready made friend group
-lost weight (yes)
-gained weight (boo)
-survived numerous life threatening situations
-got into law school
-realized will eventually have to sell soul to pay for law school
-got to know extended family
-realized bliss of not being around family 24/7 during formative years
-learned the ways of the mysterious and insane dc insider
-became a part of the dc inside super secret decoder ring club

hmm could have been worse. would have been better had i met a georgetown med student with deceased parents and independantly wealthy who thought girls who trip a lot and can quote tommy boy word for word are the height of sophistication. ah well.

so i was at this conference on the voter rights act or something like that. it was cool, i met the ceo of the ywca organization and got her card. i also me a law professor/attorney. we had nice conversation:

"oh, so you're going to law school. where at?"
"the university of michigan"
smiles and says with a laugh "i have three words for you, lake effect snow"

ah hell.

went to lunch with the supervisor as a final good bye. it WAS a juicy gossipy lunch full of intrigue and a burning desire for revenge. no wait that was the count of monte cristo which i am reading right now and am actually enjoying, its essentially the da vinci code but older (as in popular fiction that struck a chord with a large audience leading to a movie deal starring tom hanks. except for the tom hanks part)

a side effect of the not having work is that my insanity keeps creeping up on me. i just need to hold it together in front of work colleagues for a few more days. hopefully i won't start talking to the wachovia dog that rests atop marv.

so dc isn't killing me exactly, its aim missed a little today. there is a heat advisory in effect for the area and the floors above me are without air conditioning. its literally a sauna upstairs. several people called osha so ceo was forced to allow people to leave, but he was fairly disapproving of this action. what's passing out if you can crunch a few numbers on sub prime loans in the dallas/ft worth metro area for april 2005.

ukrainian coworkers who were a part of the soviet tennis machine of the late eighties are awesome lunch conversation people.
