| Fellowship and Bible study. In the pre-cursor to the bible study of Romans, I figured let's do a talk on how to get the most out of it. We looked at various scriptures that show how important it is to study God's word. We had a Top 10 and we had. Be there for God Be there to know God Be there to contribute Be there to receive Be ALL there In closing we looked really quick at: PS 119:97-104 Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts. I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from your precepts therefore I hate every wrong path If you need details or want to know the controversial top 10 ... let me know :) But as we study Romans, let us be sure to be ALL there! | | |
| Last Friday we looked at the church of Jerusalem. Such a great church, always meeting together, devoted to the teachings of the church and sharing everything in common so there were none that were in need. Daily God added to their numbers. Wow! What a church, amazing. But God still had to 'step in' to have this church truly fulfill God's plan, to not just reach Jerusalem, but also Samaria and the world. His unlikely hero was Saul aka Paul a person who persecuted the church! That initial persecution started the whole global outreach as Christians were scattered. In every action we do, as God is at work through it, we'll observe a ripple effect where our actions will impact a wider and ever wider area of influence. Regardless of what actions and what purpose we are called to do for God, we must be faithful to do it and so become that little drop into the water whose impact will ripple outwards to affect everything surrounding us. | | |
| All roads lead to Rome! So we end up at Rome and we took a quick glance back at all the churches we've visited in our weeks. Amazing churches with amazing qualities, with loads of things we can learn from to make our church into a church that loves and lives Christ. But in Rome we took a look the other way, we looked at the Chicken and the Egg Carton The gospel as found on an Egg Carton
How to be saved, so simple yet so powerful. Also we looked at the Creator of the chicken. God himself, the amazing God - Holy, righteous, loving, sacrificial, giving up all He had for us unappreciative, unloving, god-hating, self-loving people. Amazing Love, amazing God. In the end a highlighted verse. RO 9:22 What if God, choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath--prepared for destruction? 23 What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory-- 24 even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles? to me it really hit home how patient and loving God was with us. You know we go through loads of bad days, people insult us, do us wrong, hurt us, pain us, test our patience, on and on it goes everyday. We put up with loads and loads of bad and painful stuff. And often we'll retalliate in different ways. But if all of us, everyone in this whole world even put all of our grievances down, list every little thing that ever went wrong, every little way in which we were wronged. Beat up in 2nd grade, a marble stolen in 4th, a heart broken in middle school, an injustice here and cut off on the road there .. that huge list. Would pale in comparison to the list that God has of offenses we've committed against him. And yet though we were yet sinners He showed his love by giving up His life for us and providing us salvation. and boy did we even test His patience on accepting that great love! Now one thing that I failed to cover was the following. We've seen many amazing churches established by Paul and some others, but he was only able to do so because we have an even more amazing God. | | |
| First of all the number was incorrect, a correct number has been sent out for Women's prayer meeting. This week btw Kim will be putting her cooking skills on Display and the theme is JUNK FOOD!!! We're closing in on the end of the NT churches ... sooo leave suggestions on what to do next. Last week at the NT church we saw a church not established by Paul, the Colossian church. The focus was on Reality in Christ. How everything in this world is a shadow of what is to come and how Reality is found in Christ. It is important that we critically and properly look at the things this world throws at us and tells us. Money is everything, you need a nice car, you must be married, you ... Christ tells us not to worry about money, not to worry about what we wear, drive, eat. He even tells us it is a blessing to be single. Find reality in Christ, not in this world. If you have more in depth questions, ask me! | | |
