| I'm back from my 3D2N Batam trip with Dearie! It was our first trip together and in fact, my first holiday without my family. My parents have never allowed me to go on holidays, not even with my friends, so I guess this trip was really kind of like a breakthrough. Then again, this trip was actually decided upon much later after we had already booked our trip to Central Japan. Haha..
Anyway, we were very happy with the place where we lived - Tempat Senang spa resort and restaurant. At the Customs, not only were we greeted by one of the resort staff, with a taxi already waiting for us, we were pleasantly surprised to be briefed through our whole stay at the resort by the owner herself - Jasmine!
Our room, was seriously .... HUGE. Take a look at the photos found on the website, as well as those I've uploaded up to FACEBOOK and you'll really know what I mean. :) We had a king-sized bed, our own plasma tv and a jacuzzi! We had a huge collection of DVDs which we could choose from at the reception counter, and a 4GB thumbdrive attached to our room key, into which we could transfer movies or songs from the common PC, also at the reception area.
The whole area was so cosy and friendly, because of the personalized services, and away from the hubbub of city life and usual holiday crowds, because there were only 6 luxury suites, so much so that at any one time, only a maximum of about 6 couples are present in the vicinity. The personalized services included things such as booking of reasonable and safe taxis and arranging for your day trips (shopping or Riau Islands getaway) and food! The entire kitchen cum restaurant was basically just catering to us, so ... we had to place orders for our food the day before. You can imagine how freshly-cooked our meals were since they were prepared on the spot. Their house specials were also reasonably price. We recommend the Beer-can chicken, the Lemon Garlic Butter Grilled Fish, and the Beef Rendang. Superb and cheap in my opinion.
And yes the spa..... included in our package was a 3 hour couples spa. From the spa menu, we could choose up to 3 items. Dearie and I had their most popular Cinnamon Body Scrub and Traditional Indonesian Massage (SHIOK man this one), followed by Honey and Oatmeal Facial for me and Hot herbal compresses for Dearie. Completely worth it!
All in all, it was a great trip although most of the time was spent slacking (In Singlish: "nua-ing") in the room. Somehow it had been ages since we got to spend whole days with each other. So even simple activities like snuggling up in the room watching DVDs together, walking around aimlessly in the shopping centre were things that were so valuable.
In short, we're highly recommending this place to all! It's... hmmm, more for couples in my opinion, but of course there are families who have gone there before and even all-girls or all-guys trip is alright. If you're deciding to book the place, please do remember to state "LEAF #51" and my name or Dearie's name (Loh Wai Yeong)! There's a referral system :P

| Sorry for the lack of updates.. It's not that I'm really busy at work but I'm just too lazy to update anymore. I wonder if it's possible for me to eventually print out all my entries in this blog and bind it into a booklet. LOL It'd be equivalent to an actual written blog, just that it would have been typed, isn't it? :) If that were to have happened, hmmmm, I think I'd have 4 diaries to date (including ones I begun writing when I was 9). Whoah! 15 years of history, thoughts, emotions - my life story literally. =D
Oh wells, anyways, I'm just so demotivated at work these days. As what one of my friends mentioned, it could just be the holiday mood setting in. All I want to do is just throw all work aside and head to Batam and Japan! Yes! Less than a week and I'll be heading to BAtam on my SPA getaway with Dearie!!! Our 1st ever overseas trip together... then 20 December would be the day we head to Japan! *excited*
Heh.. here are some of my favourite grad photos! Told you that we had loads of fun... here're evidences of the fun! Finally.. my all-time favourite.. >.< Forgot to bring my scroll that day ler... so had to hold the mortar board instead lol.
Right, that's about it! Have to start revising for my jap and doing my homework. Adios peeps!

| Right, so now I’m back for more updates! No worries, this time round it’s going to be in English. I’m going to be talking about the movie “Love Happens” again, including a synopsis of the movie itself so that it could probably tempt you, the reader, to go catch it (and since I was still unable to do such description fluently in Japanese yet….)! Basically, when we went to purchase the tix, none of us knew what the movie was about. The only thought was that it was probably just the usual sweet, romantic kinda movie. It is still a very sweet movie in my opinion but I felt that the underlying plot was really more profound than what was on the surface. The story was about Burke Ray (Aaron Eckhart), a man who became famous after he published a self-help book titled “A-Okay!”. In that book, he talked about how to cope with the loss of a loved one, based on his own experience – his wife passed away 3 years ago in a car accident. He never really expected that his book would become such a huge hit and before he knew it, he was in Seattle to conduct a seminar and workshop on how to cope with grief. During this few days, he helped many people, especially Walter, who lost his 12 year old son, overcome their own grief. Unknown to these people was the fact that, Burke had been putting up a front. After 3 years, he had not gotten over his own grief. His father-in-law, called him a hypocrite. Then came along El-louise (Jennifer Aniston), who actually helped him to slowly open up and confront his own issues. It is truly a very touching and meaningful movie, one which was very close to the hearts of Dearie and I (close friends would know why). Even relating the plot to my mum got me tearing all over again (oh and my mum shed tears too). Yea so guys, if you think it’s just a normal romantic comedy, think again. Do watch it, especially if you’ve actually experienced the loss of a loved one before. This movie will hopefully, help you in some ways, as it did me and Dearie. 5 out of 5 popcorns for this one! Now for the next movie review... I seem to be watching a lot of movies lately. I feel so deprived because of the workload, I’m just waiting for the month of November to be over! I caught the movie “Poker King” starring Leo Ku and Lau Ching Wan with Dearie today. Hmm.. I don’t have much to say about this movie actually. It wasn’t just a comedy as there was some underlying morals (“the moral of the story” kind of thing) as well. But, somehow it didn’t struck me as deeply as “Love Happens”. Anyway, those of you who know my “kantang-ness” will probably realize I only ever watch English movies or Japanese/Korean ones and hardly Mandarin ones. So… that could probably explain why I can’t seem to comment more on the movie. Okay maybe I do have a few brainless comments… hmmm
1) I love the Leo Ku/Lau Ching Wan chemistry! They make an excellent pair in movies. I’ve always remembered them in that bra show LOL.
2) Leo Ku is really damn cute. 3) His girlfriend in the movie is also so sweet and adorable!
4) I love to watch people gamble somehow. Could have been because of the fad during the period of time when Singapore had our own version of the show “双天至尊” haha. Anyway, errr 3.5 out of 5 popcorns. Watch it for the humour and the gambling! Ok that’s all for now! Shall try to head to bed. Will be back for more updates when the graduation cum family photos are out! | | |
