I HATE Toyota of Manhattan

Reasons:

  1. I walked in to test drive the RAV4 and they paired me w/ a Chinese lady who asked me to make a $500 deposit before I had even test driven the car
  2. She asked me what other vehicles I had been considering and I mentioned the Hyundai Tucscon to which she responded "You know they are made in Korea right?"  Wrong thing to say to me
  3. She tried to get her manager to bully me into not considering other vehicles.  He pulled out a binder w/ Toyota facts pointing out that they had great Stop-&-Go features to which my response was "But it doesn't perform as well in its turn radius."  I did my research too bitches
  4. Sales lady writes me and leaves me messages daily asking what she did wrong
  5. I made the mistake of going back (because they had pretty decent prices) and asked for a new sales agent.  They provided a man and he seemed okay enough so I agreed to purchase the vehicle.  Two days later, I get a call asking me to trade the vehicle I had agreed to buy for another since a customer wanted my car
  6. Two days later from that, I get a call telling me that I need to come in immediately and fill out all my paperwork because sales agents on the floor are trying to test drive out my car to perspective buyers
  7. Three days before picking up my car, I get another call asking me if I had picked up the keys which I hadn't.  They admitted losing the keys
  8. I was offered a free oil change in two different instances because that's their way of "making it up to you"
  9. I schedule a pick-up and have to wait 2 hours to actually drive off
  10. My plates and registration were ordered June 19 and as of today, I still do not have them
  11. I call to inquire since my husband received his plates from VW, and they tell me 48 hours... it's been two weeks since that 48 hours have passed (and did I mention that he bought his car two weeks after I did?)
  12. I call daily to ask for the status and they tell me that the NJ motor vehicle services are really behind because of the shutdown a few weeks back.  They tell me that NJ MVS had been shut down for 3.5 weeks.  I called the MVS today and they had been shut down for 5 business days
  13. I speak to the General Manager to complain about the service and he gets frustrated with me saying that I'm not giving them enough time since the MVS has been shut down for 10 days.  Again, they were only shut down for a full week (5 business days)
  14. My temporary in-transit plates expire today
  15. Toyota tells me I can drive on my expired temporary plates and that it wouldn't be a problem. I ask the NJ MVS and they tell me that I cannot drive on expired temp plates
  16. My sales guy tells me about a survey that will be coming to me in the mail and offers me a free oil change and a tank of gas to bring it back to him to fill out.  I fill it out myself
  17. I file a complaint with Toyota Corporate and find out that my complaint just goes back to the dealership (where it is promptly ignored)

So if you are in the market for a car, I would highly reconsider buying from Toyota of Manhattan.  The car is great but the service is extremely lacking.  In retrospect, I should have walked away earlier.  Sometimes, patience isn't a virtue.
