| (or, No Wii for Me)
I been tryin like heck to score me the new Nintendo Wii. Primarily so I can play the newest installment to the "Legend of Zelda" series of video games. The newest game was actually supposed to be released over a year ago. I waited a year for that one, only to have the release date pushed back another year. In the mean time, Nintendo came up with another platform to play their games on. The Wii. So, I had the new Zelda game pre-ordered from the video distributor that supply's my video store. But, it was for the Game Cube. I canceled my Game Cube Zelda game and decided to just get it for the Wii instead. My plan was to get it from Amazon.com at the same time I would order the Wii, which was to go on sale November 19th. I had signed up for a pre-order notification for the Wii a few weeks in advance to be sure to get one on release day. finally I got a notification that said they would not be doing pre-orders for the Wii. I was able to order the game tho, and while at it, ordered a couple more games to go with the Wii as well. November 18th. I was up at 6 a.m. and had my usual 10 hour plus day at work. I was able to get home fairly early by skipping my usual after work trip to the supermarket for my weekend provisions. By 10 p.m. I am at the computer ready to be ready in case it goes on sale before midnight. Hovering over the refresh button on my computer screen I waited. Checking forums, it was no secret that there were a million others doing exactly the same thing. Going from Amazon to other possible big box store sites, ready to pounce when the "Now Available" button would be activated. At midnight when nothing happened I knew it could still be any minute that my vigilance would pay off. 3 a.m. in Maine would be midnight in California and that seemed pretty likely. Well, maybe at store opening hours like perhaps6 or 7 or 8? At 10 a.m. I took a break and kicked back to listen to my friend Marks radio show, as I do religeously ever Sunday morning from 10 til noon. Believe it or not, by now I'm feeling a little fatigued, but I trudged on. Keeping an eye on the computer, if only every 15 minutes, till finally retreating in defeat sometime around 9 p.m. For several days after, the Amazon page still said not available yet. finally, a couple days ago I see that it has posted a sold out notice, stating that it went on sale at midnight of the 18th and sold out in less than a minute. (It would have been helpfull to know that at say...12:01 0n the 19th!!!) They promise to restock a few thousand a week until demands are met. This week, I did receive all the Wii games that I ordered. I have since also ordered the Zelda game for the Game Cube. Now I wait for that so I can at least play it while I wait for a Wii. I wait. I've waited 2 years for this damn game and now that I have it, I goes to a machine that I don't own yet. Still, I wait. Good things come to those that wait, right? This better be real good!

| Alice did a show last night at Penn's Peak in Pennsylvania. Great show,
great audience. During the concert, Alice was doing his thing with one
of his swords and it got caught up in the dancer's whip and it went
into the audience. Luckily, no one was hurt. But, the sword did wind up
in the audience and evidently someone has a great souvenir. Alice would
love to get the sword back. He is personally offering a reward of $500
(cash) for its return. Now, there is not even a question of someone
being worried about being accused of theft or anything because the
sword was NOT stolen! It was lost. Alice lost it himself. If something
goes into the audience...it is pretty much fair game. Also, if someone
can return it and they would like to come to the show in Reading, PA
(very close to Jim Thorpe), Alice will provide 2 free tickets for the
show as well as backstage passes to meet Alice and take a picture
together with the sword. If you can return the sword, please send an
email to alicecooper@alicecooper.com | | |
| Well.. I honestly don't know why I even bother. Maybe I'm living on hope. Maybe I believe dreams can come true. Or maybe...I'm just plain, old fashioned delusional!
I'm speaking, of course, about putting up my Christmas lights.
I
like to string those miniature white lights up around the outline of my
house. Not only for the sake of being festive, but for a more practical
reason. It is dark out when I get home from work and I have to
navigate the treacherous path from where I park my truck to get up to
the house. This includes the stone steps that lead to the upper level
of my yard. Doing this with groceries is a bitch. Keep in mind that I live on a mountain top in the middle of a haunted Forrest.
At night, it is dark.
Period. But, back to the lights... I love that in the winter they
cast a gentle luminescence on the yard as well as the falling snow
outside my windows. And that just adds to the fuzzy feeling I get by
being inside next to the wood stove. I also like having them on the house in the summer. Besides the ambiance I've
described, it is an inexpensive yard light.
This doesn't sound like it would be such a big deal, does it? Sure it's easy enough to get out there with the ladder and nail the little suckers up and be done with it. That's what I think every year. Last year was no exception. I
tested all the lights before I started, then hung them from the eaves
with care. I even enjoy the chore as I'm doing it, taking care to make
it look real nice. Before long, it's winter and snowing and there is no going back. Half
of the lights have stopped working. Within a month, the rest have
stopped working and I'm out in the yard having a fit and ripping the
damn things off the house and stuffing them all in the trash.
So, here it is, that time of year again, when the stores all stock the little devils.
I've loaded up on lights, and I've loaded up on spare lights for when
the first lights fail. I have spent the entire morning hanging them up,
and they look good...right now, anyway. Of course, it's not dark yet. And it's not snowing yet.
I really don't know why I bother, though. I'm just setting myself up for a stress attack. It's the little things like this that really tick me off! (BlogSpot!!!) I
try to live a simple happy life and just do simple happy things because
I know how pissed off I get when things get too complicated and don't
go my way. (BlogSpot!!!)
Oh well. I'm happy today. My lights are up. My wood is in.
I believe that dreams can come true. Santa lives at the North Pole,
and all is right with the world
What could possibly go rwong! (BlogSpot!!!)
