my last day as a secretary

hey all

Well, I don't have a lot to do with my days in the office.  And really I have only been here since Wednesday but I have learned that I could totally make it as a secretary.  I am not sure I would want to though seeing as for most of the time I have been sitting on my butt and wondering if I am forming a secretary's butt.  Seeing as I was only here for four days they really didn't teach me how to do much.  I just answer the phone, send an occasional fax, stamp letters and that is about it.  I know I am not super exciting.  I just thought seeing as I haven't written in a while and I have nothing but time to write I might as well.

I had a good weekend, I got to see Laura who came in from DC and I got to hang out with Tyrun for his birthday.  It is nuts we are all moving into our mid twenties and soon late twenties and then we'll no longer be in our twenties.  Ok I need to stop sounding like an old lady.

As far as my life goes I am going on a few weekend vacations and then I be starting work at children's mercy in March.  Only a few weeks of freedom left and most of it will be spent in other cities: Topeka for work, Springfield, Chicago, and DC for fun.  I am excited!  Well I hope everyone had a good weekend.

the adventures of dog sitting

If you all didn't know for the next few days I am watching my friend's dogs while she goes skiing in CO.  I always thought I wanted a dog but in a cramped living arrangement aka an apartment it just didn't seem practical.  That is probably because it is not.  I swear everytime I stand up, sit down, or even go to the bathroom they are but two steps behind me.  And as much fun as they are to play with I just wish they would calm down sometimes.  I cant even change without kicking them out of the room, otherwise they just sit on the bed and stare at me.  I know they are dogs but it is oddly disturbing.

They also do this weird thing where when you pet them they wrap their paws around your arms.  It is really odd because then they will move their paws so in essense they begin to pet me.  But other than the climbing/jumping on me and picking up the poop I do really love the dogs.

there are a lot of crazy people out there

This happened a few days ago but I haven't gotten around to writing about it until now.  So, I went to Panera for lunch the other day and rarely do I back into a spot because I find it to be pointless but that day I passed the only open parking spot in the small Panera lot so I thought might as well back in.  When I was leaving Panera of course the person next me was also getting into her car so I waited for her to get in so I could get in.  Then to my surprise she closes her door and looks at me and says honey I think you should go first, pauses for a sec and then says I can tell you are a very important person by the slantyness of your eyes.  I was obviously shocked by this statement but thought just get in your car and leave this rude lady.  I sadly couldn't do that because as soon as I walked pass she opened her door so once again I was stuck.  She then proceeds to ask me if I am going to call my lawyer because the comment she made was just an ethnic hate crime and people are not allowed to do that, and then asked me if I new what an ethnic hate crime was.  I am an Asian that was born in the United States and have finished my degree, yes I know what an ethnic hate crime is you stupid lady.  But what can you do, she was an older lady that you can actually tell she was mentally insane.  You could see the crazy through her eyes which is something one can seldomly say.  All I can hope is that she makes it into a mental institution or seeks some real help so no one else has to go through what I went through, it was really scary.

On a brighter note my holidays were great and it is a start of a New Year.  I am also house sitting for the next few days so if anyone wants to visit me and two adorable dogs then give me a call.

Merry Christmas

So this week has been less than predictable.  It is a long story but let's just say I was glad to see Dan and I had a lot of fun out, possibly too much fun.  Nothing I can change just something to learn from.  Also with the unexpected turn of events I will not be making my winter vacation so to all you KCians that concerns I will be in town now so I will hopefully see you for New Years.  I also get to start looking for a job now, no more reasons to avoid getting one.  So that is basically all that has been going on in my life in a short and sweet fashion, hope you all have had happy holidays!

A work filled weekend

Well as usual it has been a while since I have written anything.  I have reached that point where I think it is about time to start looking for a job because I just sit around and do nothing most of my days.  I guess this time off gives me time to make scarves for Christmas and do some Christmas shopping as well.  I obviously haven't started much of either.  I am really excited to go on vacation soon to visit Stephen and Laura.  It is going to be so much fun.  Sadly New Years in DC is going to be quite pricer than New Years in KC but I guess that is the price you pay to spend it in a big city.  I think it will be a blast and you only live once and you can't take your money with you so might as well spend it and have fun!!!

So this weekend was once again drill weekend.  It was one of those that went by fast because it was our annual holiday party where we get to eat lots of cookies and cotton candy and just food in general.  Somehow as usual I got to babysit the static plane, which means that there is a plane that just sits there and I stand in it to answer questions and make sure people don't break it.  Also before the holiday party began I got to work outside in the bitter cold to get a plane ready for an engine run that never even happened.  The two pairs of pants and four shirts just didn't cut it, I was still freezing.  I guess that is the price you pay to be an aircraft mechanic in Kansas because it gets cold in the winter.  Which leads me to a decision I must make soon because it is almost about that time where I need to decide if I want to re-up meaning sign another enlistment.  Just such a scary thought that I have already given 6 years and only have 14 more until retirement if that is the choice I choose to make.  I could use some help and deciding so please comment away.
