| This book is absolutely amazing! It is so intriguing to me to see how C.S. Lewis explains the logical explanation of Christianity. It all makes perfect sense, but it is not something I could have come up with on my own. That's it for now :). | | |
| Another amazing quote: "We are to keep before us the fact that we are no longer slaves. We can now stand up to sin and say no to it. Before we had no choice; now we have one. When we sin as Christians, we do not sin as slaves, but as individuals with the freedom of choice. We sin because we choose to sin."
That chapter was hard for me to read and very convicting of my way of thinking and all my excuses and explanations about so many things in my life. It is an amazing thing too...even though it makes me wrong in a lot of ways, it is a relief. I've known this fact, but for some reason it made sense and fit in my understanding this time around...it is an amazing weapon.
| I just finished the book A Thousand Splendid Suns which was amazing and just started reading this book. My church has a list of a 100 books they feel christian should read....this is my first one. Here is a quote I reall liked:
"Our first problem is that our attitude towards sin is more self-centered than God-centered. We are concerned more with our own "victory" over sin than we are about the fact that our sins grieves the heart of God. We cannot tolerate failure in our struggle with sin chiefly because we are success-oriented, not because we know it is offensive to God."
| This book appeals to the social worker in me, but contradicts so many of my beliefs concerning christianity and my beliefs in who Christ is and who God is. I sometimes wish I could believe that everyone is automatically saved and will go to heaven. I don't want anyone to be left out and I would love it if everyone would experience the love of Christ. I agree with the author in that Christ loves everyone, but I do not agree that Christ is one way of many to be saved.
The saddest thing about this is that I don't live this way. I love people, I care about them...and I want to help them, love them, and live along side them...but I'm not intentional about sharing Christ with others...and since I believe He is the only way, why don't I?

| I have been enjoying reading this book, but overall it challenges me to think about what I believe and how it differs from what the author writes...but I am enjoying the thinking and laughing involved :).
Not much else to write :)...
