| The past weekend has been good, really thank God for good health, safety and His grace throughout. First on saturday, shannon and I went for a colleague's child's one month birthday party, and the place was so nicely decorated! Food was good too, hehe. Best of all was meeting some old frens who used to teach in Cedar...glad that they are all doing fine...kinda miss those fun times with them, hehe. After that we went to church for a career talk for youths event, and was so surprised that so many young adults helped out, and so many youths were present too. Thank God for the smooth worship, even though I wasnt too familiar with one or two songs. Two of the young adults shared their testimonies and one was really touching, gosh. Then we went to our profession groups and I was tasked to share a bit about how I came to teaching, and was kinda nervous while sharing, haha. After that we had a delicious dinner, then for 2nd round of sharing, then took some group photos and finally sang August a birthday song, hehe. The whole event was really encouraging and inspiring to me and hopefully to the youths too. On Sunday shannon and I went for our long-awaited 6 km fun run at the Esplanade, which was part of the Singapore Bay run. Lotsa people took part and it was really nice just to be a part of the whole thing. Matt was running the 10 km, and a few of my colleagues ran the 21 km, so didnt get to see them coz theirs started at different timings. Anyway, it seemed easier to run with so many people around u (coz u wouldnt want to be overtaken!) rather than by yourself. I completed the run in 32 mins while Shannon did it in 42 mins, and both of us improved on our personal best times..so we were quite satisfied after all. There was even a certificate of completion at the end. After the run we went back home to shower, then had a nice lunch at Xin Wang Hongkong cafe and ate dim sum, yummy. Then we went home to rest...my legs were so tired! This week in sch so far has been alright..my kids seemed quite well-behaved, so dont really have to scold them much. Its a short week too with PSLE oral exams on Thur and Fri, which means two less days of teaching. Its shannon's birthday on Friday, and thankfully I managed to settle the plans for that day. Well, hope the rest of the week will be smooth! | | |
| Its been a very enjoyable and fruitful long weekend...managed to catch 2 movies. First was Up, which was really cute and funny...definitely a show for everyone! The next show was GI Joe, super-exciting and action-packed all the way! Went for a run with Shannon at east coast on Saturday...managed to do 7 km, but timing was a bit slow. Anyway should be quite ready for the 6 km run next week. Had dinner with Shannon's family at this Thai restaurant, really delicious food! On Sunday we went with our cell group to Sentosa...sun was super hot and very crowded there, but had lotsa fun playing beach volleyball, frisbee and a board game called Cranium. Wanted to take the luge but didnt have time coz had a family dinner to go to. Met my distant cousin there who used to be in the same class as me, and hes now an SIA air steward.Watched the parade on tv and didnt feel like it was really awesome...maybe coz i wasnt there live. Then today went for ktv, hehe...teo heng ktv has upgraded its ktv rooms to touch-screen monitors, so cool! Its still at a very affordable price, and they also include very new songs..love the place! Also managed to get some well-needed rest...and hopefully will be recharged for the week ahead. I really thank God for holidays like this! | | |
| Its been quite a good week, managed to clear my marking and also gave my class a brain puzzles worksheet which got them really excited, hehe. My observation lesson is postponed to next week though...just want to get it over with. Met Matthew and had a good talk with him..hes going to NIE soon, lucky him! Its always nice to catch up with close frens...thank God for frens! This past weekend has really been inspiring..went for Festival of Praise on Saturday at the indoor stadium, and it was awesome! I love the worship with Bob Fitts and True Worshippers band from Indonesia (the lead singer had powerful vocals!)...its also so amazing to see so many fellow believers gathered in one place, although most of them were younger than me, haha. Went with Shannon, August and Joash...we all enjoyed it! This morning (Sunday) Bob Fitts came to visit my church, and again it was another wonderful time of worship..I especially liked the song He will come and save you, coz it speaks about the broken hearted and the weary ones...how often in my life ive felt broken hearted and weary, but knowing that God is with me and will help me through is truly a blessed assurance. The message was also impactful, about just letting God transform us as we respond to Him with praise and thanksgiving. This coming week is the P6 Prelims..really hope my ex-pupils will do well. Looking forward to the National Day long weekend! | | |
| Its the weekend again....this week has been quite smooth, and really want to thank God for His strength and grace upon me. There were times when I struggled to wake up in the morning or when I felt so frustrated with my kids coz of their misbehaviour, but thankfully everything turned out ok in the end. Had my first badminton training for this term, and was nice to see some new kids joining. One of my colleagues whos really good at badminton also helped out with the training, and I was really appreciative of that. Yesterday me and shannon went for cell group, and was surprised so see many new faces there. Again, gotta thank God for guiding me through the worship part. Just going to relax this weekend and hopefully get more sleep, hehe. Want to watch Public Enemies starring Johnny Depp, seems like quite a cool show. Also want to go walk around Ion Orchard, the new shopping mall with shops that I cant afford to buy any stuff in. Liverpool is in town, and the fact is they are here just for the sake of earning more cash, rather than really wanting to play a good game. Im sure Liverpool fans (like Gabriel) would disagree with me, hehe. Cant believe Steven Gerrard was found not guilty for hammering a man at a pub..famous footballers always seem to have it their way. I watched the last episode of Prison Break on Thursday and it was such a sad ending! Michael sacrificed his life to allow Sara to escape. Wish it could have been a happier ending though. Overall, it was a super exciting drama series that I would rate as one of the best (2nd to Harper's Island of course, hehe). The H1N1 sitaution doesnt seem to be getting any better...maybe its time to take those vitamin pills again. | | |
| The weekend beckons again...have been getting more rest this past week, thankfully there were some days I could leave sch earlier than usual to rest. Managed to clear most of my marking too, thank God. Somehow my kids are getting a bit rowdy, so had to use quite a bit of time nagging and scolding them. I still like them a lot though, hehe. Going for a group of fren's gathering later..then to worship practice. I suddenly have this craving to bowl again, hehe...kinda missed it. Maybe will go bowl next week just for fun. Was checking out Youtube just now and theres this singer whos half Viet, half American called Cathy Nguyen who sings really well! She also sings some Christian songs and some duets, my fav song by her is Lucky, who she sings with AJ Rafael, another great singer. Seems like theres a lot of good singers on Youtube, hehe. | | |
