| | Homekeeping Heart's Homekeeping NotebookToday I completed #14 on my 101 things to do list. I finished my home management binder. You can read this article
which will guide you in making one step by step, but I highly recommend
purchasing the ebook. She goes into much more detail, also including
printouts and helpful hints on homemaking and mothering. It's very
inspiring and motivational.
I'm aware this is an ever ongoing project as things are always changing
in your home and your life, but my current binder is finished. Just by
having it done I feel so much more organized and peaceful.
Here is the cover of my binder. I found this picture at Ladies Against Feminism
and have always loved it. To me it symbolizes how much better I feel
about my day and even how much more energy I have when my appearance
has been taken care of. Doesn't she look so lovely?

Here is the spine I made from magazine clippings.

On the back I have an exerpt from Proverbs 31 in The Message Bible. You can't see it very well in the picture.
It says:
A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve,
and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously
all her life long.
She’s up before the dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.
First thing in the morning, she dresses for work,
rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.KYRE
She senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
She’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth,
diligent in homemaking.
She always faces tomorrow with a smile.
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say,
and she always says it kindly.
She keeps an eye on everyone in the household,
and keeps them all busy and productive.
Her children respect and bless her;
her husband joins in with words of praise:
“Many women have done wonderful things,
but you’ve outclassed them all!”
Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades.
The woman to be admired and praised
is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.

Here's what it looks like opened up.
The first section is my "Schedules" section. I've broken away from a
half-hourly schedule since things got so frequequently interrupted with
still a fairly small baby. Now I used the basic Morning, Afternoon,
and Evening routines to give my day structure. Here I also have my
exercise routines.
Next is my "Menus" section. Here I have my weekly breakfast and lunch
menus, and also my supper menus. For dinner I have themes for each day, but each
weeks meals are different. We'd get tired of the same meals every week.

Next is my "Cleaning" section. After trying many many methods I've found Large Family Logistics to work the best for me. Here I also have some helpful articles from the book along with some recipes for homemade cleaners.

Next is my "Budget" section. This is a really helpful tool for making a budget.
Then comes my "Homeschooling" schedule. Not much here since we haven't
started yet, but I do have some skills lists and children's catechisms.
After that is my "Child Training" section. I have some lists of things
I want to work on with each child along with an activity schedule for
if they seem bored.
Next is my "Social Servies" section where I will have some legal info
on homeschool and vaccinations along with a good article that gives
some good tips in case SS ever comes knocking (God forbid).
Next is the "Recipes" section. Self-explanatory.
After that is my "Articles" section where I have some of my favorite articles there for quick inspriration.
Then comes my "Ebay" section where I have a running list of things I would like to buy on ebay or elsewhere.
Then probably my favorites is my "Books" section where I have my reading list.
Last I have all my Above Rubies
magazines each in their own page protector. I love my Above Rubies so
much I want to keep them at easy access always. They are a treasure
trove of inspiration, motivation, and encouragement.

That's it! I'll go into more detail about each section in later posts. |
