Wednesday, and Thursday Plans

Not much went on today. We had to deal with some issues, especially with our two youngest. Everybody is not pitching in and helping to clean yet. We had to deal with the problem.
Irvin told me today that after Ginger gets spayed, and Penny gets her shots, he wants to give them away. He is afraid that after he leaves for Texas, that the dog catcher will come back. He wants to give away all of the animals, so that we will not have any trouble from the dog catcher. That means Ginger; Penny;  the guinea pig that Persephone just got Monday from Samuel and Joshua; the rabbit that Franklin got from Sammy on Monday; and Prince, the cat. The only one that I am willing to keep is Prince, because he has been doing a wonderful job catching mice. He can keep the mice and lizards away from the house.
We went to church. Sister Christine asked if everything is okay. I just told her that everything is okay. She said that we would get together sometime and talk about Junior Bible Quiz. She told me that it would be soon.
Sister Barbara Oliver told us that she really missed us Sunday. She said that it is a big hole when our family does not show up. Dawanna wants me to tell Irvin that she hopes he has a safe trip, and she will miss him. Cherie was telling Dawanna that we have 10 people in the house right now.
Cherie and Persephone asked Dawanna if she could take the dogs at least temporarily until we can get moved out of Linda Halterman's house, or somehow get someplace else to live. Dawanna hates the dogs that are at her house. They have a duck in the house, and they just recently got a cat. Dawanna thinks that the cat is pregnant.
Dawanna said that she would think about it. She really don't want to, but she does not want Persephone to lose her dog.
Pastor Kelly taught the lesson for the adults. It was good.
The plans for Thursday. Irvin is going to be off all day, because he is leaving Friday to go to Texas. He said that he and I will be probably be gone all day. We have to go to Vicksburg to Mutual Credit Union, so that they can get a copy of his license so that they can file the insurance. He wants to go to Bastrop to get some stuff from Renita's house. He wants to go to Monroe to Best Buy to check on the cell phone. I am hoping that we have time to go to the bank and see about getting a line of credit.
I've got to go to bed. Irvin wants me to drive for him later today.

Going On.

Tuesday. Renita talked to me. She told me that she had just got my message that morning. She said that she had her phone on charge in her bedroom. She told me that Sammy had called her too. She said that he wanted to get on the defensive at first. He wanted to blame the boys. Renita told him to not be mad at Irvin and me, but if he was going to be mad; be mad at her because she told me to take the boys. She kept remembering the Scripture that a soft answer turns away wrath. So she just spoke calmly to him. Sammy said that he was trying to show his boys that they have to survive in this world. Renita  told Sammy that that is not the way to go about it. She said that it's not right to take your kids out in the middle of nowhere and expect them to survive. She told him that they had no way of going to go wash clothes, get groceries, or anything. No way to call anybody if there was an emergency, or anything.
Renita told Sammy that he did not have  a right to get mad about the money. When Sammy found out that Renita could get Lillian's money out of the account as long as she had a death certificate,  he wanted it. She told him that he did not want it for his boys, he wanted it for himself. She told him to just let Irvin and me take care of the boys.
She told him to be honest, that even though he tried to act like it didn't bother him, deep down, it did bother him to leave the boys out there and not knowing how they were doing. He told her that yes, it bothered him. She told him that if he insists on the boys staying out there, he is going to lose his mind worrying about them.
She told him that family needs to help out family. She told him that yes, Rocky makes good money, but that don't mean that she can just hand over $300 to him or any other kind of money to him to just to throw it away. She told him that that is the way he acts. Like everytime that they see him, that they should give him a handout. She told him that she don't even give handouts to her kids. She does it if she can. She said recently Page wanted some new jeans. Renita told Page that she just cannot do it right now, to let the clothes that she has do her. She does not give them money to go to Wal-Mart anytime that they want to. Bobbie's tuition for Master's Commission is $4000. Renita said thank God that Bobbie got a $500 scholarship. She said that sometimes Page doesn't make enought money. Page will call Renita and tell her that she doesn't have her rent this month. She has some of it, but not all of it. Renita will help her if she has it. Sometimes Page will call Renita and tell her that she doesn't have much groceries and can she give her a little money for groceries. Renita will help Page if she has it. Renita  told Sammy that this job might be over next month, and then they could be struggling just like the rest of us. She said that is why she is trying to get her cards paid off as soon as possible. She told Sammy that Renee wrote a $4000 check on the funeral. She told him that she should not have had to do that. Everybody should have been pitching in. She said that she put $450 on the flowers. Plus over $1200 for the funeral. She said that Jay did not want to be involved at all. He said, "I don't have any money. I know you will make good choices. I don't want to be involved." Renita told Sammy that she and Renee were waiting on Irvin and him when the arrangements were being made, because they knew that they wanted to be involved. But when it came down to paying for the funeral and the flowers, they knew that Sammy and Irvin did not have it, and so they did not ask for it. She told Sammy that she does not know if LeTourneau took up money for him, but if they did, she did not see him laying it on the table to put on anything.
Renita told me that she just wanted the money that was in the main account. She does not care about the rest of it. She said that the rest of them can fight about the rest of the money, if they want to. She wanted the money out of the account to pay Lillian's bills.
I told Renita that out of the $446 that was in the account, I had $313, and with the change it would probably be $315 that I could deposit for her, maybe more. She told me to just deposit an even $300 and for me to keep the change and all. She would take the $300 and put it on her card for the flowers and then she could pay the rest with Rocky's paycheck on Friday. She said that she was trying to avoid late charges and interest.
When I had talked to Sammy on Monday night, I told him that I took that $100, and I went and bought the groceries for the boys. I went out there to take it to them, and I could not take it. I had to bring them back with me.
Tuesday, I did go deposit the money in Renita's account.
I talked to Franklin and Samuel. I told Franklin that nobody needs to be over Samuel's money. Nobody needs to manage it for him. I told him that he and Cherie will not always be around Samuel. Therefore, Samuel needs to manage his own money. I told him that when Samuel's money comes in, Samuel needs to decide what to do with it. He does not need a bunch of people telling him what to do with it. I told Samuel that he needs to save as much of it as possible. He wants to buy a prepaid cell phone so that he can contact people. He wants to pay for his schoolbooks. I told him that I have schoolbooks for them to start out with. I told him that we would talk about the other later. He said that he wants to go ahead and pay for his schoolbooks so that he can tell Sammy that he does not have to worry about paying for books, that they are already paid for. That way he can stay here if his books are already paid for. I told Samuel that the reason he can stay here is that he is 18 and nobody can tell him what to do. I have told him many times that he's needs to do what he feels like God has called him to do. He needs to seek God about where to go and what to do. Samuel is afraid that if he does not do what his daddy wants, then he is disrespecting him. I told him that after you are grown, you respect your parents by listening to them; but after being grown you have to make your own decisions, about things. Cherie told him about Christine wanting them to live with her, but Cherie cannot do it because of the sin. She loves her mom. She respects her mom, but she cannot live with her.
Samuel told Irvin that he wants to stay here. He said that Sammy is hurting him, and he does not want to go back. Irvin told Samuel and Joshua to just do as they are told and he won't have a problem with it. He told them that he will try not to yell at them or get mad at them; but they need to do what they are told. Chores or things like that.
Irvin told me that he understands Sammy making Samuel buy his and Joshua's school clothes with his money. I told him that I don't. I told him that that is Sammy's responsibility. Franklin told him that it would take all Samuel has to buy uniforms and everything they will need for school. He told Irvin to think back about how much it cost us when we had two kids in school, and it was lower prices then. On top of uniforms, school supplies.
Joshua and Samuel both have told me that they want to be homeschooled. Joshua told me that he told his daddy last year, that he did not want to go back to public school. He wanted to be homeschooled again. Sammy told him that he could not afford it. I told Joshua what happened was that Irvin took over things and told Sammy that if he wanted Joshua homeschooled again, then it was going to cost him $500. He did not even ask me how much the books were.

I guess that is all for now.

Lots Going On.

First of all on one of my message boards, Jenileigh is sending her daughter, Meadow to school. By the way, Jenileigh's daughter Heaven, is Persephone's pen pal. Heaven is on a mission trip in South Africa right now. Anyway, Jenileigh is concerned about Meadow. Meadow went to Christian school last year. Because she has not learned everything that everyone else knows, the Christian school decided to put her back in 1st grade. They are using the ABeka curriculum. Therefore they are expecting Meadow to have total recall on her math facts, and to know how to do cursive; since ABeka has math drills and teaches cursive in Kindergarten. Jenileigh said that they are giving her the option to leave her in the 1st grade, or to put her in the 2nd grade which is actually going to be a combination of 2nd and 3rd graders in the class. Meadow would have to do a lot on her own. Jenileigh was asking the ladies on the message board about what to do. Most of them said to  leave her in 1st grade. Jenileigh decided this was the right thing to do. I made three comments on the message board about this. I told her that according to the age/grade level standard that public school has, all of my students are behind. Joy had trouble reading. So she is 9 in the 2nd grade. Jonah had trouble with cursive and division, so he is 12 in the 5th grade. Persephone most years has taken two years to get one grade level done, so she is 17 in the 10th grade. I taught Joshua in the 9th grade. He went back to public school last year. Just for the fact that he was homeschooled the year before, they put him back in the 9th grade. He is 17 in the 10th grade also. Samuel is 18 in the 12th grade. Franklin because of quitting school so many times is 21 in the 12th grade. I told her to be encouraged, because she was doing the right thing letting Meadow stay in the 1st grade. She was replying to everybody. She has not replied to me, but she had some kind of test done. It ended up showing that nothing was wrong; but she was exhausted and nauseous, so she went to bed early.
A lot of the discussion was about the age/grade level standard. There is a lady on there named Linda. She's always thought that they should not give grade levels in school, grade 1, grade 2, etc. She said put the kid where they should be and when they are 18 graduate them. If they learn their stuff to graduate sooner, then graduate them. I commented to her and told her that that was a good idea. I loved her idea. The same can apply also, that if they are late getting the graduation stuff done, then graduate them when they get it done. Early, late, or on time. It depends on the student.
There is another lady on there named Sis. She mentioned in her post an experiment that her school did one year with science. They had these kind of pace things that they did. It was little booklets. When they finished one, they did another. Science was at their own pace. She said that she thought it was an excellent thing to do. I commented to her that we had something similar to that with Reading. She said that she always wondered if anybody else in school was experimented on in this way. She thought it was just a California thing, because she went to school in Los Angeles. I enjoyed going at my own pace with these SRA Readers. I was reading at my level, not someone else's level, and not the class all together.
Now to Sunday. Irvin called me. He told me that he did not have to work Sunday night. I told him that was good because he could go with us. He said that he would need some rest before he went. He came home. He rested. We got up at 10. He asked me why we had not gone on to church. In a way, he wanted to go in two vehicles. He wanted to meet us at Mama's after church. I told him that I thought that church started at 10:45 or 11. By the time we got ready and went, when we got to Oak Grove, it was too late to go to church. Daddy and Randy were outside. Mama was inside in the shower. We talked to Daddy and Randy for a little while. We went inside. I told Mama that they said they were going to have something simple like hot dogs, so I had made baked beans and brought them. By the looks of the pan that I brought, they thought I was bringing a cake. Mama made Deer Chili, Wolf Brand Chili, and Macaroni and Cheese. Mama also opened jars of saurkraut. She fixed hot links, and weiners. Then we had my baked beans. Everything was so good. Mama fixed tea and lemonade to drink. When everything was ready, it was just our family of 8, Mama, Daddy, Randy & Sarah. We had our first meal in the dining room together. Melanie, Toney, Hannah & Austin came later. They brought extra ice. We all had a nice visit. No surprises. No unexpected things. Just visiting. When we left, Sarah was spending the night. She was going to help Mama put some pictures on her computer. Karen and Chad did not come. They are having plumbing problems with the house they just bought. It is a fixer-upper. It has 3 bedrooms, a den, a dining room, kitchen, bath, barn, swimming pool, pond, and shed. The rabbits are in the barn right now. They are going to fence in the yard for the dogs. When they get some of the land fenced in, they are going to move Sarah's horse out there. They are living in Downsville now. Chad is trying to get a lot of the doors fixed for security. They are in the middle of nowhere. Karen wants to be able to feel safe. They are in Union Parish. They are near Lake D'Arbonne. It turns out that Vera lives in that area too. She and Susan went to see Karen one day. Susan took a tour of the house, butVera did not get out. Karen went out to visit with her. Vera knew they were just moving in, but she just wanted to see Karen.
Sarah is living with Ashley right now. She is still working at Jungle Gyms. It won't be long and she will be going to Louisiana Tech to major in Biology. She will major in that for 4 years. Then she will go to Medical School for 4 years. I don't remember what she said after that.
Melanie is not working at the Nursing Home anymore. She has not worked since February. Toney has been working some in Tallulah. When he is in Tallulah, he is working at Scott Tractor Company. He is having problems with the people that are over him. They are expecting the men to work with old equipment, instead of buying new equipment for them and getting a tax write-off. They are expecting Toney to report for work at Lake Providence, but to wait to clock in until he gets to Tallulah everyday, and then clock out in Tallulah and then drive to Lake Providence and then report back there before going home. Toney thinks they should pay for his gas going back and forth. He expects to clock in, in Lake Providence as he is reporting for work, and then clock out, when he gets back to Lake Providence. The boss just does not want to pay the extra time or for gas. He's driving a company truck back and forth to Tallulah.
Franklin said that Daddy gave him pointers about getting and keeping a pipeline job. Daddy told him that if he goes on a non-union job first and makes sure that he likes pipelining. If he decides that he really likes it and wants to continue, then he will get to go with Daddy after the first job, and he gets his money built up and gets ready to buy a travel trailer.
Cherie wants to go to Vicksburg to one of the banks to see if they have any CPA interships.
There was an uproar that I did not know about when the Family Reunion went on. Laura and Payton had been contacting each other through myspace. Laura told Payton that she was thinking about bringing her boyfriend with her. Payton told her that he did not think that it was a good idea. Aunt Cindy and Laura usually stay at Uncle Jerry's when they come into town. They did not stay at Uncle Jerry's this time. Uncle Willie and Aunt Carolyn were staying at Uncle Ed and Aunt Deanie's house. Uncle Robert and Aunt Shirlene invited all of them over to their house to visit. Aunt Cindy, Laura and her boyfriend showed up. Aunt Cindy stayed on the computer most of the time that everybody else was visiting. When everybody else left, Aunt Cindy said to Uncle Robert, "Well, I guess I can stay here for the night, can't I?" Uncle Robert got mad because of not being asked ahead of time, and he said, "I guess so.", and went to bed. Stuff went on between Laura and her boyfriend that night. I dont' know what all transpired between the goings on and the next morning, but the next morning when Uncle Robert & Aunt Shirlene got up, Aunt Cindy, Laura and her boyfriend were gone. Uncle Robert and Aunt Shirlene found out what had gone on in their house the night before and they were not happy at all. They tried to talk to Aunt Cindy about it. She would not talk to them at all at the Family Reunion.
Sarah was showing Mama about myspace. She was showing Mama her prom pictures. She also showed Mama her friends. Sarah showed Mama, Laura's myspace. Then she showed Mama that Laura's boyfriend is 19 years old according to his myspace. Daddy said that he did not think that Alan would put up with that. Mama said that it don't seem like Aunt Cindy cares about her little girl. Daddy said that it seems like she don't care anymore; that she's gone crazy or something. She definitely wasn't raised like that. Laura is 14 years old.  Irvin said let a 19 year old boy mess with a 14 year old daughter of his and he would have him put in jail. Aunt Cindy and Laura live in Texas, and I know they are strict about that stuff over there. I asked Irvin about Renee and Ralph Jay. Renee was 14 and Ralph Jay was 19 when Renee got pregnant. I asked him wasn't his mom and dad going to have Ralph Jay arrested. He said that if Ralph Jay had not done the right thing by marrying her, then they were going to have him thrown in jail. They did get married though.
I told Irvin that I understand Nathaniel bringing Terra last year. They were engaged and he wanted everybody to meet his fiancee. I don't understand a lot of the teenagers bringing boyfriends and girlfriends to the Family Reunion.
Mama and Daddy really enjoyed Lee-Ann again. It seems like whenever she goes over there that they enjoy it so much and it just makes their day.
Melanie referring to Lee-Ann asked Austin if he wanted one of those. Austin said that he don't want a baby. Hannah said that she does.
Sarah said that she used to wish for a baby sister, but she gets to see her cousins for a little while, and then she can say by-by to them, and she don't see them for a while. She said that she is glad now that she did not have any siblings growing up. Chad has two boys. Jacob and Phillip. Whichever one is the youngest gives the most trouble. Daddy said that Chad and Karen try to straighten him out when he is with them, but then he has to go back to his mama where he gets whatever he wants. The boys are one reason that Chad and Karen did not come. Not only did they have to fix up on their house, but Chad had the boys and he had to take them back to their mom on Sunday after church.
Sammy called Irvin Sunday night. He said that he had called Irvin, but he could not remember why. I told Irvin that he needed to remind Sammy about Monday. Irvin tried to call him back, but Sammy did not answer his phone
Now about Monday.  Irvin woke me up at 7 and asked me had Franklin and I gone to get Sammy yet. I told him not yet. When I later told Franklin about Irvin waking me up like that, he said that we were not picking Sammy up, "Not at no 7 o'clock." Irvin had told us that Sammy was getting off at 11:30. Joy ended up wanting to go. I told her that she needed to stay home and spend some time with her daddy, since he is going to be leaving soon. Cherie ended up going too. The original plan was for Irvin to go take Sammy. To watch him and make sure that he only got the $100 out for groceries for the boys. Then for Irvin to go deposit the money in Renita's account at Regions Bank. Anyway, Irvin said that since Sammy was waiting so late to do it, that he could not go. Anyway, we headed to LeTourneau. We got there at 11. Irvin kept calling to see if Sammy was coming. He figured that Sammy was not going to do it. He said that we needed to leave if Sammy did not show up by 11:30 or 11:40. Later he told us to go have him paged if he did not show up. He didn't show up. The lady at the guard shack told Cherie that Sammy did not get a lunch break until 12, and that they did not have any record that he was leaving to tend to business. He showed up a little after 12. He got in the van and commenced to chow down on his lunch. Franklin saw several cops, so he stopped and decided that he wanted me to drive. I drove to the bank. Sammy went to try to tend to it. They told him that he had to wait until 1o'clock to talk to a lady named Karen. She showed up after 1 o'clock. She invited all of us upstairs. Sammy had to sign a paper, and give his information. Karen said that they had received the death certificate and everything from Renita. She told me that Irvin's name was on the insurance part of the account as beneficiary. They needed his driver's license copied so that they could file that. Sammy called Renita while he was trying to tend to the business. He told her we were getting the money in just a little bit. She asked him had he talked to his boys. He told her yes. He was hesitant when he said it though. She asked him how they are doing. He told her that they are doing good. She told him that he better spend that $100 on them boys. After he got the paperwork done upstairs, Sammy had to go downstairs to get the money out. He had to leave $10 in the account so that they can file the insurance part of the account. They are supposed to send whatever amount that is, to Irvin at our address. Sammy decided that he needed another bank card. He said that he cannot remember his account number. He went to check on that, and then he had to wait to do that. I went outside to call Renita, because I could not get Irvin. Irvin was telling me not to go to Port Gibson. He did not want me driving all the way out there. I knew that Renita had told me a few days before, that she wanted Irvin to make sure that the boys got the groceries, even if he had to take some of the money and use it for gas. She wanted to not only hear it from Sammy that they were okay, but she wanted to hear it from other people. I called her to ask her if that was what she wanted done. I was right. She wanted  somebody to see that the boys got the groceries, and she wanted somebody to check on them and ask them how they are really doing and what's been going on. I told Renita that I did not know when Sammy was going to get the groceries to the boys. He was talking about he had to make arrangements for David to take him out there; or to borrow David's car to go out there. It was going to be Monday after work or later before they would get the groceries. I explained to Sammy that Renita wanted the boys to go ahead and have the groceries, and if I went and bought them, then the boys would get it quicker. He would not have to worry about getting a way out there. They would already have them. He told me that I was right, but reluctantly gave me back the $100. It seemed like he had something else in mind for the money. Renita said so later herself. She also later figured out that Sammy was not mad about her talking to him about the money; he was mad at her for talking to him about the boys. Asking so many questions about how they were. Renita had told me that they may need toilet paper or something like that. She said, "You are a mama, so buy what you think they will need mama." I asked Sammy did the boys have a can opener where I could get them some canned food. He said that yes, they had a can opener and I could get them some canned food, but just not nothing to cook. He said that they did not have any propane to cook with. Franklin asked him if they have a microwave. Sammy said that they did. Cherie asked him if they had lights, and water. Sammy told her yes.
Next, we took Sammy back to work. I went to Dollar General to get the groceries. Franklin and Cherie were getting hungry. I told them to go on and get something to eat while I was picking out the groceries if they wanted to. I was not planning on eating out. I was focused on getting those boys some groceries. Franklin asked me if I was going to get them some chips and drinks. I told him I was going to get them food. Chips and drinks were not a need. They needed food. After I got the food, and toilet paper; it added up to $89. I asked Cherie if she thought that we ought to get them a can opener to make sure that they have one. She said that she was thinking the exact same thing. I took what was left and got a hand can opener and an electric one. I told Cherie that those boys are strong and they were liable to break either one of them trying to open something, so to be on the safe side, I wanted to get them both kinds. We headed to Port Gibson. We went to their house. Josh came out. Franklin told him to go get the groceries out of the van. We had groceries for them. Josh started going. I followed Cherie into the house. She had the can openers. She went into the kitchen and put them in there. I looked around the house. First of all, the smell liked to have knocked me down. It was urine smell, and the smell of a backed up sewage. There were clothes on the floor in the den. There were bags and boxes piled up on the furniture. There was no place to sit. On the dining room table was a guinea pig in a laundry basket. The basket was filled with mess. There was a rabbit running around loose in the house. Franklin said that there were open paint cans in Samuel's room. I went into the bathroom. The comode did not flush right. There was trash in the hall way. Franklin said that there were not trashbags in the house. Franklin said there was dirt and rotten food in the refrigerator. I looked at Cherie. I couldn't hardly get the words out. I said, "We are coming back. We are coming back." Cherie said, "Well, do you just want me to tell him to get in the van right now?" I said, "Yes. They can't live like this." I couldn't take it. It broke my heart. Franklin told Josh to just hold off on getting the groceries out. Franklin and Cherie both said that we just needed to take the boys and take the groceries back to the house and we would all eat on them. I kept trying to get Irvin, because I could not leave the boys in that situation. Joshua told Franklin that they had not seen Sammy in 8 days. They had run out of food Friday, the 18th. He said that they had not washed clothes in 4 weeks. He had dirty clothes on. Samuel had walked to work or a ridden a bicycle. We found out later that Samuel's job was over 10 miles one way. Franklin got Joshua situated and getting clothes together for him and Samuel. Cherie was trying to find out where Samuel worked so we could go pick him up. He was not going to get off until 5 o'clock, and it was only 3:15 or something like that. We had not eaten lunch yet. They were working all of that out, while I called Renita. I couldn't handle it. I was crying. I said, "Renita. This is Teresa." You won't believe what I found when I got here." When I told her what I saw, she started having a fit. She said, "Oh, my Jesus. I knew it! I knew it! I knew he was letting them boys starve. Something kept telling me, 'They need food. They need food. ' Teresa don't you leave those boys there. You take those boys. I know Irvin don't want the extra headache, but they need ya'll. We are family and we need to help family. If family can't help family then there is just a major, major problem. I don't care how old those boys are. You don't take your kids and put them off in the middle of nowhere and not provide for them. No way to call nobody. No way to go places. My kids are grown and I still help them when they need it. They have church friends and all that can help them too. They are not just abandoned. Sammy was not raised like that. Daddy did not treat him like that. Make sure when you take them boys, take them somewhere and get them something to eat. Wherever they want to go. Tell them that Aunt Renita loves them, and I am so so sorry.
I was finally able to talk to Irvin and explain to him what the situation was. He and Renita were so mad at Sammy that they wanted to beat him. Irvin told me to be sure and call Sammy and let him know that I had the boys. He told me not to bring any animals. He told me to just put them in the shed and leave them there. He later told me to hurry up and get out of the house. By that time we were in Port Gibson, looking to find Samuel's job. Next, we headed to his job. We passed it up, and had to go back and find it. When we went back, Samuel was waiting outside for us. Samuel said that he had to go tell his boss that he was leaving because he was not supposed to leave until 5. Franklin told him to tell them that because of circumstances, he was going to be living with somebody else. Franklin went in with Samuel and explained everything. He had things arranged so that Samuel's check was coming to the house. Samuel had been talking to Sammy about getting his check cashed. Sammy told him that he did not want it cashed. He wanted Samuel to hold on to it, so that he could buy school clothes and school supplies for himself and Joshua. Renita and I agreed that that is Sammy's resposibility, not Samuel's. He gets paid from his job every week. Plus he gets the boy's social security checks from their mom. Sammy may not make as much as usual because of filing that chapter 13, but still he has money.
Samuel and Joshua both said that they had stopped calling their daddy to tell him that they needed anything. When they would call him and tell him that they needed groceries, he would come out there and give them a very little bit of groceries and tell them that it had to last. Make it last. Then he would beat them for calling him and telling him that they were hungry. Samuel said that he had been crying out to God for the last 3 nights asking God to please send them some help. To please somehow get them some food. They were hungry.
Sammy would not let the boys talk to anybody when Lillian was in the hospital or at the funeral home. He wanted them right with him. He did not want them talking to anybody and telling them anything about what was going on. Irvin called and talked to Sammy on Saturday the 13th. Sammy was at Captain D's eating. Irvin asked him where the boys were. Sammy told him that the boys were right there with him. Irvin did not believe him, so he asked Sammy to let him speak to them. Samuel talked to him. He could not tell Irvin anything because whenever the boys were on the phone with anybody, Sammy told them, "Stand right here, so I can hear everything you say." Samuel did tell Irvin that they did not see Sammy unless he came to the house to play games or to fuss at them.
After we picked Samuel up, Irvin called and said that he would meet us at Kangaroo. I don't know why. I guess he wanted to see the boys and talk to them himself. We went to get them something to drink because they were hot, sweaty and thirsty. We got out of Port Gibson. Samuel had to get out to throw up. He said that he had thrown up a 39 cent Little Debbie. That's all he had the money to buy to eat that day. Before we got something to drink, Samuel asked Franklin to please stop by Piggly Wiggly and let him get him a 25 cent drink. Franklin told him to hang on to whatever money that he has, that we are going to take care of them.
By the time we got to Kangaroo, Irvin was leaving there going to work. He could not wait any longer. We went to Captain D.s. Sammy called me and asked me what we were doing.  I said, "What do you mean, what are we doing? We are at Captain D's." He said, "Irvin said that you have the boys." I said, "Yes." He said, "Why?" I said, "Sammy they cannot live like that." He said, "Well. It's just that them boys have not cleaned up that house." I said, "No, Sammy. It's not that. It's no way possible that they could clean that up. Just let them stay with us until you get on your feet. You just take care of yourself, and we will take care of the boys" I gave the phone to Franklin. I told him that I could not deal with Sammy and his attittude right then. I was concerned about his boys. Franklin and Cherie both talked to Sammy. Franklin said that Sammy was mad when he got off the phone with him. We went into Captain D's to decide what we wanted. The boys got scared that since Sammy knew where they were, that he would get mad and come get them. So, we went to Taco Casa to eat. After that, we headed home. Renita talked to Franklin and Samuel and me. She later told me that she probably overreacted. I told her no she didn't. We got the boys home. They went and took showers. They had water at their house, but not hot water because they did not have any butane. Samuel had washed his clothes in the bathtub in cold water. Samuel took cold showers. Joshua said that he could not take the cold showers, so he did not take any showers. The boys had been really interested in how Sammy was doing when he would come see them. They would say, "Daddy how are you doing?" He would tell them, "I'm doing without. I'm starving."
They just kept thanking us for coming to get them. They were thanking us for every drink they got. They were thanking us for every piece of food. They were so grateful to be rescued. That is the way they acted.
Sammy called later. He told me that he was over his mad spell. He said that he is not mad anymore. He said, "Hold off on that for a minute Miss Gloria, until I get the boys social security numbers, if they have their cards with them." He wanted to talk to Samuel. He told Samuel that he was not mad. He wanted his social security number. Josh said that Sammy has his social security number with him in his wallet. Sammy talked back to me. He told me that he had to fill out some forms. I was real cheerful, when he told me that he was not mad anymore. When I told him "Okay" in a cheery voice, he laughed. I told him that we were only thinking of him. We know he is having a hard time. If we take care of the boys, he don't have to worry about them. He will know they are taken care of. We thought it would help him if we took the boys. We thought it would make it easier on him. He said that it will, but he is still worried about that house. Renita later told me that Sammy is having to fill out forms to try to get Samuel's social security check back.

What an ordeal!

Irvin.

Franklin and I had the same thought about why the Indiana job has been delayed. Franklin said that it could be waiting on him. I said that I wish it was waiting on him and Irvin. When Franklin told Cherie and Irvin, Irvin told Franklin that he is not going pipelining. Franklin told Irvin that he could make more an hour and therefore, he could make more a year. Irvin told him that he can't. Irvin is leaving out sometime between Tuesday and Friday, headed back to Texas.
Irvin was able to talk to Sammy also. Irvin wants Franklin and me to go pick up Sammy Monday at 11 at LeTourneau. Take Sammy to the bank to get the money out. Sammy is supposed to give me the money. We are to take him back to LeTourneau so that he will not loose any time. I don't know after that. I guess we have to go give the boys the groceries. I haven't been told anything more about that. I do know that we have to go to Regions bank and put the money in Renita's account so that she can pay bills.
I really have to go to bed.
Sunday is a big day.

Another Response.

I had another response about sharing personal experiences.
A lady said that she had a very difficult life and she keeps most of it to herself. This is because it involves family relations. She turned to the Lord 9 years ago and continues to turn to Him. He is the only One Who listens and understands our pain. If God desires for you to share your pain and grief with others, He will give you the opportunity.
