  • Schlinder list

n 1940s Poland, the German conquerers have issued new anti-Jewish directives. All Jews must leave the countryside and concentrate in the major cities. They are crammed into the "Jewish Quarter" of town, in this case Krakow. They are relieved that the Nazis have not killed them, but life is very hard in the Ghetto.

Enter Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), a scam artist from the German part of Czechoslovakia. He arrives in Krakow, intent on making his fortune as part of the "new order." He spreads money freely among the SS and Nazi hierarchy, and eventually makes contact with Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley), a Jewish businessman. Stern agrees to raise money for Schindler to buy a cookware factory in exchange for product to trade on the black market. Schindler is "Director", but Stern actually runs the operation.

Things go well for Schindler until the Nazis decide to remove all Jews to concentration camps. A new one is built not far from Krakow, and the Jews are forcibly removed there. Schindler quickly realizes that his slave-labor force is at risk, and comes to an accommodation with the camp commander, the sociopathic SS officer Amon Goeth (Ralph Fiennes). Schindler is allowed to continue using people on a "list," and these will not be send off to the death camps. An equilibrium is again reached, though conditions in the camp are even worse than in the Krakow Ghetto.

As the war progresses, the SS becomes increasing frantic in its efforts to implement the "final solution." Goeth begins sending increasing numbers of people to Auschwitz, and Schindler's people are again at risk. Stern reminds his boss that the List is all that stands between them and extermination. Schindler even has to rescue Stern and a trainload of his workers from the gas chambers at one point.

Realizing that Poland is too dangerous, Schindler buys a munitions factory in his native Czechoslovakia and moves "his" people there. Several hundred Jews are saved by his actions, though the bribes and other expenses required to do this bankrupt Schindler, who was wealthy at the height of the war. In the end, Schindler is ruined, but the people on his List are saved.

    midnight at museum

    An entertaining watch...

Cast: Ben Stiller, Dick Van Dyke, Micky Rooney, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais and Robbin Williams.

02/03/07 - A highly entertaining retake on the Jumanji concept. Thanks to an acient egyptian tablet each night the museum pof natural history museum exhibits come to life, which comes as some what of a shock to new night watchman played by Ben Stiller (Meet the Parents). With the advice from former night watchmans inluding Dick Van Dyke (Mary Poppins) and Mickey Rooney (Petes Dragon) and the help of Teddy Rousevelt played by Robin Williams (Jumanji).

Stiller needs this job to impress his son and to convince his ex wife that he is a steady enough influence on him. Unfortunately keeping the museum under control proves to be much harder than he originally anticipated especially thanks to Dexter a mischevious monkey.

Stiller has never been one of my favourite actors his work is often tired and tedious and his humour almost cold and unpalletable! He isn't much different here however he is supported by a good cast including Robin Williams playing Americas 26th president Theodor Rousevelt. Williams has had a few flops over recent years however he is very comfortable in his role. It's also nice to see British actors Steve Coogan and Ricky Gervais in there!

This is nothing new but is well crafted with some excellent special effects and a sweet stroy although at times it lays on the sentimentality a little thick and at points becomes a little sickly... The fun seems to fade out somewhere half way through. This film is still entertaining but it wont be one you want to watch over and over again... although the little ones might.

The film contains no swearing or sexual references which makes it ideal for the little ones... although some of the scenes may be a little scary for the younger ones!

    The invisible

Overall, this is a good film.

Nick is a "perfect" high school student leading a "perfect" life. Teen angst plays a big part in his psyche. Annie is a broken teen who acts out her hatred on everyone, especially Nick. When Nick is beaten within an inch of his life, it becomes the job of his spirit to save himself by finding his body before it dies. But how is going to do this when he is The Invisible?

Mom is making a toast to her high-school age son, Nick at a large gathering. She gives him an inscribed gift. "To Nick, from Mom, make me proud." Following this, Nick proceeds to go the food table and cut the center out of a chocolate cake, taking his piece with him in his bare hands as he heads to the garage. The next morning he awakes in a start. Mom has made him two eggs and bacon arranged on a plate in a happy face. Mom is bugging him about college prep. Nick wants to take a writer's course in London.

At school Nick delivers a French essay to fellow student Pete. Pete is attacked in the bathroom a group of kids led by Annie Newton for "accepting merchandise and not paying for it." Back in class Nicholas presents his oral poem. The class is engaged as he recites, interrupted by the ringing of the class bell. Nick catches up with Annie group and pays for the merchandise whispering to her "you are so broken." She attacks him in the cafeteria and they both end disciplined. Annie goes home to her family's apartment. Mom & Dad fight and she makes sure her very young brother gets fed.

Nick meets up with Pete showing him his secretly purchased plane ticket to London. He complains that mom has has his life mapped out since his dad died when he was 13. Annie goes out with boyfriend Marcus and he breaks into a car. She approaches a nearby window jewelry display and smashes out the window to steal a beautiful necklace. They take off in the car and evade arrest. She and Marcus argue and she walks out. He calls the police and reports that she's been stealing at school.

The next day at school Pete is watching Annie at her locker. The police arrive and break open her locker. Annie calls boyfriend and tells him he got busted. He plays innocent and she says she knows who did it and will take care of it. Nick says his goodbyes to his friend. Nick arrives home to have his mom tell him the airline called about his flight being changed.

Annie and her gang attack Pete. Under physical torture he turns the gang toward Nick who is at home hosting a party. He meets a girl, offering to let her go to London on the flight that leaves in 2 hours. They start making out and she notices he's wearing an old watch when he has a new one. She learns his father gave him the watch he wears. He leaves the house and takes a walk finding himself being followed by a beat up old car. Annie makes his friend sit in the car while her gang beats Nick senseless. His friend begs them to stop. Nick makes a side comment to Annie and she kicks him into the water. The group checks to find he isn't breathing. They panic. Annie demand that they pick him up and they carry him through the woods, his watch dropping along the way. hey drop his body into a storm drain, cover it and and leave him.

Arriving at boyfriend Marcus' place she confesses to him that she killed him. She needs an alibi. He tries to toss her out citing his probation status. She notes all the stolen vehicles in his shop, dragging her bloodied hand across them. She burns her clothing by the river. In the next shot Nick walks out of the woods to the road in perfect condition. He realizes no one can see or hear him. The police are investigating his missing person status.

The female investigator tells Detective Larson that Nick had a run in with Annie. He notices debris around the entry to the woods. He has a history with Annie's family. A search party is organized. In his bedroom, Nick's mother reads his poetry journal while a bird sits on the porch railing. The bird becomes injured and is dying. A live bird appears on Nick's shoulder and he takes it in his hand. As the bird on the railing slowly dies the bird in his hand disappears and Nick realizes he must still be alive. He tries to lead the search team and he pleads with Annie who can't hear him to help. Pete is on the verge of telling the truth.

Det. Larson visits Marcus' garage. He asks about the jewelry store smash 'n grab and he says he wasn't with her. Larson tells him he knows she phoned Marcus. Larson asks about the missing person investigation. Marcus stops Pete outside at gunpoint informing him he's being followed by the police. They go out to the woods where they left Nick. Marcus gets Annie's gang together and they call her saying someone is going tell to confess. She calls Pete to meet her sending him to her gang. Marcus shows up with Annie at gunpoint and sends Pete home. Annie takes the gun when they realize the cops have followed them. She escapes. Nick shouts out to her and she responds, "Never!" Nick continues to follow Annie as she shuns him, he knows his only hope for survival is her.

After sleeping a night in a school gym, Annie goes to Nick's house. She sees his life of his own room and goes through his possessions. She pours ashes from a small bottle into her hand as Nick's mom enters the room. Annie runs out into the wood and goes to the place she left Nick only to discover he's not there anymore. A nicotine gum pack was left leading Annie to see Pete about where they moved him. Pete admits Nick didn't turn in Annie, nor did he. She finds Marcus and takes him at gunpoint to a ledge. Annie and Marcus end of shooting each other but she calls Det. Larson and tells him she knows where Nick can be found. Pete attempts suicide and as he slowly dies Nicks finds Pete's spirit standing beside him. Pete's father comes in before he dies saving him.

Nick is rescued from the river and taken to the hospital. Annie fights to get to him despite the gunshot to her abdomen. Nick guides her through the halls to him and he speaks to his mother through Annie. In Nick's room she speaks to him as his spirit moves back to his own body, she passes.

A young boy flies and remote controlled airplane over a lake. Nick notices the boy and is concerned that the boy is alone. He explains that his sister was supposed to come with him but she died. Nick suggests they send her a message. They write, "Hey Annie" on the plane's wings and send it out to fly.

    St. Trinian's (2007)

St Trinian's, an anarchical school for uncontrollable girls who save the school from bankruptcy by stealing the painting 'Girl With A Pearl Earring'.The film starts with Annabel Fritton being admitted to the school. When there Annabel meets Kelly, head girl of St Trinians, Kelly walks Annabel around the school and introduces each of the different cliques in the school - Posh totty, Chavs, Emos, Geeks and First years. Annabel has a rough first night in the school where her towel and dressing gown are taken from the shower and she is broadcast on the internet by the other girls while running naked from the shower to the dormitory. She phones her dad and demands to be taken away from the school.

Flash Harry pays a visit to the school and makes a deal with the girls for some lab made vodka.

A few days later the school has a hockey match against Annabel's old school - their rivals Cheltenham Ladies College. Their captain is Verity Thwaites, the daughter of Geoffrey Thwaites, the education minister. The girls give a hostile and violent welcome to their visitors and the match ends in a brawl between the two schools. Later in the film Annabel overhears her Dad talking with Mrs Fritton about how he thinks Annabel doesn't fit in with the family and hurts her feelings. Later that day Mrs Fritton talks to Annabel and makes her a part of the family and gets her to release her anger. The other girls at the school give Annabel a make-over and makes her part of the school. Meanwhile Geoffrey Thwaites is inspecting the school and the bank is threatening the school with closure.

Kelly hears the talk about closure and tells the rest of the school, they then make a plan to save the school which involves getting to the final of "School Challenge" and stealing the painting 'the girl with a pearl earring'. Meanwhile Annabel is talking to Flash Harry about acting as a gay german art dealer. He initially refuses but Kelly gets him to do the job (as he secretly has feelings for her and does not want to look stupid in front of her). The school team for school challenge is made up of the three of the Posh Tottys, Chelsea, Peaches and Chloe. They get to the final by cheating.

During the final Kelly, Taylor and Andrea foil the security for the painting that they're after and eventually retrieve it but on the way back the cable that they used to climb over the top of the audience of the final of school challenge snaps just after Taylor and Andrea get over to the other side. Kelly gets stuck with no other way to get to other side again. Mrs Fritton sees that Kelly needs help and goes to help, having to knock out Geoffrey Thwaites on the way. Meanwhile Annabel takes care of Verity Thwaites.

The school successfully gets the painting and sells it to Carnaby Fritton who doesn't realise it is not the real one which has been returned under the cover of St Trinians finding it. They get a £50,000 reward for returning the painting and the cash from Carnaby Fritton they pay back the money owed to the bank and St Trinian's doesn't get closed.

This is CRAP if you ask me...don't watch it unless you plan to vomit, get drunk or go suicidal...total CRAP.
