| Prayer of RemembranceThis is my prayer O God: that when you bring me into a land of milk and
honey, when you keep your promise to your child, that I would not
forget you. May Your name always be spoken in hushed reverence from my
lips and my lips ever praise You. May I never forget Your kindness, how
You adopted me when I was orphaned, and called me Beloved. Should You
prosper me, may I not turn to serve what You have given and thus
despise my Lord. Should You humble me and acquaint my life with
suffering, may my heart not resent my God. | | |
| Inspired by huangel's xanga entryOnly true love leaves a legacy in this world. People are either
impacted by hate, love or indifference in some form or another. But
it's when we decidedly abase ourselves to One Thing that we can
potentially change the world. Perhaps it is not for us to dream so,
though it is not so wrong.
What is that one thing?
When we come to abandon all ambition, whether good or bad to embrace one glorious obssession, which is to love the Lord our God,
our PERSONAL God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, we'll
find that we ourselves have changed. No longer do we love God or serve
Him so that we can change the world, or go to heaven (religion), we
find ourselves fulfilling our eternal calling, not merely our temporal
calling (relationship). That is heaven on earth, is it not? We can have
what is promised, His presence right now. When we with fervor lay aside
anything that keeps us from him, then what we serve, is not a cause (to
change the world) we do not love God so that He will listen to us and
lend his support to our plans to change the world.
Loving God and being loved by Him, this relationship becomes the source.
Then we can take His love to others, His justice to others, not our
imperfect love, not our imperfect justice. Don't get it wrong. It's
love God first, then people. THEN people. Anything else is idolatry.
Anything less is idolatry. THIS is the thread that runs through all the
commands. And his commands are not burdensome. ( John 5:3).
Don't tell people that Christianity is about a relationship, not a
religion then tell them that reading your bible and praying equals
spending time with God. It's not the same! Not to say that those aren't important. But it's not the same! Those
are a means to an end--your relationship with God. It's the difference
between knowing about God and knowing God. God is a person. He gives us
His Word so we can glimpse into His character, see into His heart, and
perhaps...one day...we will have ears to hear and eyes to see, and fall
irreparably in love with Him.
Do you want to change the world?
Change your worldview. Change yourself. 2 Tim. 3:16-17
Do you want to make a difference?
Humble yourself before the Lord. 1 Peter 5:6
Do want to truly live?
Pick up your cross, die to yourself, carry the death of Christ within you.

| Before The Sun Rises But for questions of life, fate, and destiny, rest
eluded him. Empty mutterings of his tireless mind plodded and traipsed
to the lonely serenade of heartstrings in a neverending dance. It
seemed that his dreams, instead of lifting and inspiring, now only
weighed him down. He wondered how they had become burdens. A sigh escaped his chest. Doubt,
riding thoughts of the future bore down heavily on him.
His heart sang for freedom. Gasped for freedom.
Wimpered and begged for freedom. There was one thing he wanted to do
before Dawn cupped her hands with light. His hands
slipped from the keyboard as he sank to his knees. There wasn't much
room, but this would have to do. In the heaviness of the moment he opened his lips to pray.
"Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him, My Savior and my God."
--Psalm 42:5--

| I was writing a comment on Janice's xanga, when I realized it was a bit long for a comment and might better be suited as a post.
So Miss Chan,
this one's for you.
The heart of chivalry must be love and service in humility--loving
consideration expressed though service. Honestly, you can take any guy
with those qualities and teach him how to open doors and be courteous
and let girls go first into elevators; it will soon become second
nature to him.
On the other hand, merely "doing the right things" should not make a
guy chivalrous. That would simply be an outward expression of a
motivation that is not there, that is, love. Again, a guy that is
chivalrous to you, but shows no signs of that same chivalry extending
to how he treats other guys, is not a chivalrous guy.
The characteristics of chivalry action pertain especially, but not
exclusively to women.
Don't give up on us guys. We do need loving women to teach us to be the loving and considerate men that we can and should be.
