Not even Jesus Xanga'd this long!

| A lot of people say that writing can be a way to relax and to help calm down when you're frustrated. I think writing in itself is the cause of frustration tonight. I missed an essay for World History which I now have to write by Thursday. I can get a 75% at best now. That really sucks.
I also have to do a spreadsheet project in Microsoft Excel. The ironic thing is that my home computer doesn't have Excel, but my Palm Pilot does. I am not going to write out an essay on my Palm Pilot. I'm not that desperate.... yet.
Xanga would be a great stress relief right now if it didn't involve typing. Sometimes school drives me nuts and even if I want to rant and yell, TYPING IN ALL CAPS just doesn't seem satisfying. It doesn't help that I don't update often or regularly, so I have no real constant reader base for this blog. It's kinda like talking to the wall, cept I can count on Crow to comment and offer some helpful advice.
I should say that I don't really mind writing. I just don't like it when I have to write on a tight deadline. My essay will be rushed for World History, and a pet peeve of mine is to cite sources of information that I can't back up by a reputable news source (or /.)
The last thing I despise about writing is the amount of time it takes to write. I rarely update Xanga during the day. This update is being written close to midnight. I wanted to go to the beach today, but I had to work on my essay for a while. Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll go to the beach on Thursday.
I think I should go to bed now. I wasn't going to do a quote but a woman in the adult learn to swim class had something funny to say when we tried to teach her the frog kick.
"Ahh!... I can't even do the human kick, never mind the animal kicks!"
(P.S. If no one comments I am gonna rant to the wall next time because I am feeling better.)
| Has everyone seen the counter on my Xanga page? Yep. I have less than one week of "teen" left. Then it's on to the big 20. I'm going to Bubba Gump's for my birthday. Plenty people are coming. Hopefully Crow will take pictures and post them. I'm hoping someone will miraculously buy me the half gig SD card for my Palm Pilot. I don't really need it, and it's $200US, so that's why I'm hoping someone will buy it for me. .
Today I bought some Valentine's stuff for Laurie. I can't say what it is because Laurie's in the room right now, and she might read over my shoulder. I will say that I bought her something in a store, and as I wandered around Ala Moana, I saw the same thing for $10 less. I returned the expensive thing, bought it at the other store, and treated myself to a Gingseng Green tea drink. You know, the tall ones that they sell with the honey.. Cherry blossoms on the can. Yeah.
If you have time, take the poll at slashdot.org. It's on the right side.
I'll do a quote of the day since te seem to be popular, or copied.
"What do you mean, 'boom'?" -dude I was playing HALO with.
| Zen
Today at work I sat in the rain. It was wonderful. The cool droplets matted my hair and soaked into my uniform, but I didn't move. Behind me, a group of high school kids taking shelter under a building's awning played ukulele and sang. The wind carried a hint of the sweet smell of a freshly cut grass field. As the rain wet the sun-warmed pool deck, the heat would rise off concrete, contrasting the coolness of my soaked uniform. This was my moment of zen.

Skipping Church, "Work", and the Emergency That Wasn't
Today is Sunday. Or at least it was about an hour ago. I skipped church.... again.
I decided to get to work a little early today so I could just be a lazy arse there instead of being a lazy arse at home, and having to rush to work late like I usually do. When I pull onto Paiwa St. (the street the park is on) I notice kids running all around and an ambulance with lights flashing parked in front of the pool (*bum* *Bum* *BUM!*). I start thinking "Oh no!" Some kid musta hopped the fence and drowned or fell out of the tree or something really bad! Then I thought "Good thing I didn't come extra early." As it turns out though, one of the kids phoned in a prank call to the police again. Last month they called the cops and said there was a fight in the park. This time it was a mugging. I'm almost certain it was a prank call though. Even the paramedics were walking back to their ambulance with a pissed off look on their faces as the local park kids chased them, telling tales about someone getting mugged, and someone else calling the police. The kids at the park kinda remind me of Lord of the Flies, except they're not too high classed, and they don't have a leader. But the park is kinda like their island sanctuary, and they seem to have rival factions. You gotta see it and use your imaginations a little bit.
Work was actually work today. We averaged about twenty to forty people an hour. "Mattchu" the irritating boy who never listens, was finally allowed back in the pool, after being banned for seven days starting last Sunday for not following the rules again. Our clock broke, but Grimmace fixed it. The bleach barrel for the small pool pump was empty, so Grimmace and I changed the pump over to a new barrel. Having liquid bleach coating your hands and arms sucks. At least everyone left at closing time.
| Last night was the Waikiki Ho'olaulea. It was a very interesting experience. Everyone knows parking is horrible during the Ho'olaulea, so Nahi and I parked at her apartment on Kapiolani Ave. and walked down Kapahulu Ave. to the party. While we were walking down Kapahulu, we were going faster than the cars on the road. We even slowed down to listen to the music someone was blasting. It was a weird kind of rave song, but it was good.
As we got to the first stage, I started to reminisce about previous Ho'olauleas. Every year, it seems there are fewer and fewer friends. A couple years ago, I was cruising down the street with 5-0 and a whole gang of people. And walking from one end of the party to the other, you'd be sure to bump into all sorts of people you know. Last year, the group was smaller, but most of the important people were still around, and we'd run into a handful of people we knew.
But this year, the friends were gone. The few people who didn't go to the mainland for school were too busy with other things to go. Nahi saw a few friends from Chaminade, but all of the locals were gone.
On a brighter note, Ho'olaulea was pretty fun. Nahi and I walked on the beach for a while. I had a plate of beef brocolli, dim sum, manapua, kahuku shrimp, seafood fried rice, and orange chicken, all in one plate! That was good. Ooh, and the 98.5 stage played One on One, and someone played "I Hear Music". I love that song. Anyways, maybe see some more people next year.
