STATE CHAMPS!

Today Urbandale High School takes pride in their physics department for their student
and teacher (Mr. Hermon's) accomplishments!

They are the STATE PHYSICS OLYMPICS CHAMPS!
Of the nine years that Marc has taught at Urbandale seven years his teams have advanced on to "State"
...this is the first "State Championship" trophy.
Another positive aspect in his teaching career was brought forth from MY (Carlisle) principal. He was at a conference on Tuesday and Marc was randomly brought up and complimented by the presenter (Marc did not know the person speaking, neither was Marc there). Anyhow, the speaker was addressing the crowd with "Technology for the future teacher" and said, "An Urbandale High School Physics teacher is already enhancing the student environment with on-line podcast lectures and website technology....." My principal called me at his break and told me about the compliment.
All of Marc's hard work is recognized by many admiring people, including me.

Maddy makes me smile

I found this (among other) videos when I uploaded today.

At her scrimmage this weekend she was in the groove. Our coach had to call the pitches and she told me afterward she would love to stand behind Maddy every game because of her free spirit.

Apparently she is training her dog to be just like her.

Niki had a baseball game as well. He got walked twice and played second base.

I'm not so sure that baseball is his favorite sport anymore. I think he prefers running.
Tonight he ran the mile and 4X100. We chuckled when he told us that he was doing the 100 relay. His strong points are not sprinting but he had fun with his friends anyways & that's what it's all about, right!?...

EXPELLED!

I took Niki today to watch Ben Stein's documentary: Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. It was very interesting and I recommend you at least rent the DVD when it comes out. It is all about Intelligent Design (I.D.) which of course we call God and how our freedom in the scientific world to express the concept of creation as an alternative theory is being taken away. I think you will like it. Click on the image above to go to the website and watch the trailer.

Shea's Exploring

Mom, I am ready to learn about this great big world God created!

On our walks the past week I have told him over and over again what God created on which day. "Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deut. 6:7... Maybe by the time he is two he can answer all of the VBS questions!
Here is what evidence he saw from the work of God...Flowers, leaves, birds chirping (he loves "tweet! tweet!"), cows, cats, all sorts of farm things! At the end of the outing Shea delivered flowers to two of his Great Grandmas: Mildred and Betty. They were delighted!
