| Wow this has been one amazing summer so far. Our final string quartet concert at NYU was phenomenal, and i realized in these past few weeks that music is quite possibly something i want to spend the rest of my life doing.
I went to Amati this summer again, and believe it or not...it was great. I actually think i improved in two weeks, and i got to play in the honors concert at Steinway Hall. And also, while i was missing my friends from previous years, i met quite a few awesome people this summer as well. Today's been quite depressing as I am missing everyone quite a lot. Like my roommate Anne. And Konrad (and yes, Joyce, we were together, heh.). Dammit, why does every song playing have to do with love or relationships or something related??? Wow, i didn't realize i would get so emotional and depressed...now I know how other people feel in such situations. I guess i should just go to sleep.
I've given up writing in detail on xanga cause too many people have my username. But once again, if anyone wants my livejournal username just IM me or something to get it cause that's where the party's at.
But anyway, I'm pretty much around til school starts, so i hope to see some people sometime soon.
| So i'm spending the day at home after spending a whole week dorming at NYU for this string quartet workshop. Most things are going well: I get along with my suitemates, i've been practicing quite a lot, I've been having ice cream every single day, I saw spiderman 2, I have NO curfew, and from one window of my dorm there's a perfect view of the Empire State building, and from the other window, a view of the Chrysler.
And to top it all we have one of the few rooms that has a balcony.
One of the highlights of my week was the "chamber music party" last night: sight-reading quartets til about 10 or 11, pieces like "From my life" by Smetana, the Dvorak "American", a few Schubert ones, including "Death of a Maiden", and the RAVEL!!! Yay for awesome classical music.
So after my laundry's done with and I've caught up on this week's current events in the paper (why do i always get so out of touch when i do these summer programs?), i'll be back in the city to go see a NY Phil concert with the group, and then two more weeks of chamber music making.
Hasta luego. | | |
| So the summer is here: ok yeah, i've been on break for the last two weeks but i've just gone ahead to state that here anyway because my last update was made before i could even think of conveying the awesomeness of summer '04.so yay for thattt.
Well...I hope everyone has awesome plans for the next two or three months, and please don't forget mee
I will update in a few days with my plans/camps info. til then i bid yall adieu!
| ahhh so our chamber music concert at Weill Hall was phenomenal: i think we all enjoyed ourselves so incredibly much! The chemistry was soooo there, and the audience was really awed as well. It was probably the best performance we've done of the Dvorak ever! Rachel you were so amazing, we really did rock the hizzouse, soul sista! Can't wait to do Ravel, Chausson, and Foote piano trios with ya next year....that is...if we find a cellist who we have good chemistry with. But hey, we go to MSM, there's got to be someone, right? ...right. We will find someone no worries.
Oh yeah, and Mahler 5 at Carnegie last week was so amazing. If you've never played mahler in carnegie hall i suggest you do so immeadiately...because IT ROCKS MAN!!!!!!
NYYS, i will miss y'all so much. Til next yr!
PERFORMANCE HIGH!!!!!!! Seriously though, if someone were to tell me that i would never have the opportunity to perform again, a huge part of me would die right there. i am SO thankful for all these opportunities, whether it's solo, chamber, or orchestral...or even dancing in DTW! Performing is all about enjoying yourself and for sharing that enjoyment with as many people as possible, and hoping that through the performance you give, you are contributing to and enlightening each audience member's life. What more do you want than to show off a part of you in this way? I certainly don't know what I'd be doing today or what kind of person I'd be if I'd never had such opportunities. I am so so so thankful for the beautiful gift of music and the communication aspect that comes with it as a supplement.
Ok...back to hic haec hoc and subjunctivo en espanol. Three. More. Finals. i can do it...
