Icky, icky, blahness...You know when people are cool and all and then after you get to know them...they are still cool?  Well one of my clients were kinda like that...with an exception though that I didn't know until one of the guys I work with dropped off the computer.  I spoke with the bench technician and found that he had to back up this data on the customer I went to before.  Well it definitely wasn't cracked up to be what I thought.  People please remember:  porn = bad...very very bad.  Scarier is the spectrum of all of it that he had.  It's one thing that a person downloads it....it's another thing when people catalog it like a library or business archival service.  *shudders*  icky, icky, blahness.

On a lighter note: please, please remember that even a little static electricity can cause havoc to a computer when a component is touched.  Time and time again...customers don't understand that rubbing the carpet then touching the computer is bad.  Who would think that static electricity is bad for a computer.  Especially when there is a *pop* and then a *sizzle* as the "magic smoke" filters into the air.  Yes folks...I went to a service call in which the person thought that the computer was still okay after that.  I just had to ask myself why do people think burn markings on components are good.  I would understand in most cases if people don't know.  But this guy being as pompous as he was stated to me that he was in the computer industry for 25+ years as a computer technician.  Another note to self:  WHY FOR THE SAKE OF PETE WOULD HE NEED ME THEN?!?  I kept wondering this as I fought against arguing with him about his ignorance.  But...OMG!  *grumble*

Peace Out

A post about today stuff on.....today!

I only have three words to say about today. "High", "Speed", and "Internet".   Why in the heck does someone NOT get it?!?  For the love of pete doesn't any respectable business attempt to at least get it?!?.   GEEZ!  I waited 45 minutes today for a small file.  We are talking tiny.  Like 3 megabytes or so.  It was a little file.  Bad apart about the whole things is that I didn't need the stinking file.  *Slaps customer's internet connection to doom* Darn those dial-up ancient connections.  BLAH! BLAH! BLAH.

Another note to self: NO FREAKY DOGS!.  I couldn't tell what breed it was but it was loud, yappy, and Would probably looked pretty spray painted silver like that computer I worked on.  The thing couldn't decide if it liked me or hated me.  I was there alone because the customer had other things to do in the home....but OMG!?!  That....thing....would almost have a seizure if I got up to check some connections and then yappy till I wanted to poke it in the nose.  Anyhow...this particular customer had an issue with McAfee Security Center.  No offense people who use this program...it bites when it comes to spam protection.  Flagged every email as spam...who would have thunked it.  Anyhow, I straightened it out but allowing it to "learn" and differentiate what truly was spam and what was not.  Bah...peace out.

2/13/06 work

The 13th was a good day....I had to add it to the site....because I closed a nice sale/bid computer deal with a non-profit organization.   Now I think the bad part....not really bad but the funny part is...I think I'm Jewish...adopted by this non-profit organization..  Well....at least that is what the running joke is about the whole thing.

Again, the crew at the shop has mentioned the possibility of a LAN/Gaming party.  How grand!   However the rumors are that they have been planning it for the past year....so the chance of one maybe doomsday .  Time will only tell.

Hmmmm......

Today was very strange....ACT! a business product that is glorified address book was my adversary today.  The customer wanted specifically that program to work.  Apparently the freakin guy wanted me to part the sea for him because it didn't work.  Not only did it not work...it was a computer technician nightmare.  Everything from the simple test email for Microsoft Outlook didn't work.  The computer and I had extremely different decision on the outcome of the service call.  To say the least, I gave up the ghost because the issue was truly beyond my expertise only because the ACT! software had errors only their diagnostic system could find and explain a fix for.  So Bob is 1-1 against the ACT! software.  Darn that software....darn it all to heck!

Work from 2/10/06

Mozilla....one thing I have to say about them is that they bring me heartache.  The creator of the successful Firefox Browser came out with Thunderbird.  It is supposed to be the freeware based program to replace Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook.  Now I understand where manufacturers want to optimize the customer experiences and what not.  HOWEVER, why in the heck would they NOT make it backwards compatible...meaning...allow the customer to go back to a program that they are used to?  Anyhow to say the least and keep confidential the customer's issues...I had to find a way to port new emails in Thunderbird back to Microsoft Outlook.  Luckily for me, the customer stated they she would just filter through what is already in Thunderbird and just use Microsoft Outlook again.  Your disgruntled technician out.
