Chernobyl
Probably a new and unfamiliar word to you, and me. It is a city at Ukraine, near the border of Belrus, formerly ruled by Soviet Union.
1:23am, 26 April, 1986
When I was at the age of 3.
The most serious nuclear disaster took place at Chernobyl. It’s rate level 7 in the nuclear event scale. And it’s the only incident so far in the history of mankind to reach the highest level of 7.
I’m now 25 to find out about this. It’s so late, but never too late.
The nuclear team was trying to do a safety test for its reactor no.4, but control was lost and explosions followed. The clouds of radiation immediately built up and spread across most of the Europe.Sadly it is the some of the team members were well-protected from the radioactivity in the control room, but their hearts were dead.
Sadly it is the communist government at that time was trying to cover up, and there’s jus a few lines mentioning this incident on the newspaper the next day. Nobody ever mentioned it’s terrible. Nobody explained anything. The covering up would end up costing them and their people and the world more. The unrecoverable cost of life.
Sadly it is the people know the food they ate is poisoned, the water they drank is poisoned, the air they breathed in is poisoned. But what's not? And they dont have any choice either.
Sadly it is the government tried sending in crews to clear the mess and to clean up the radioactive debris, without informing them about the radioactivity. Many crews went there without any protective clothing.
And the helicopter and pilots and crew, who were assigned to pour cements and concrete over the exploded nuclear site, got completely no idea that they were burying themselves together into the site as well. (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=aw-ik1U4Uvk&feature=related )The truth is although official statistics shown direct death is just a few thousands. (P.s. the government forbid the Dr to quote the word “radiation” in any death report) But over millions children and people suffer indirectly from radiation exposure and poisoning, it's 100 times more radiation than the atomic bombing at Hiroshima. Thyroid cancer, leukaemia, and deformation. Experts said the aftermath can be seen in the coming decades.
If it is really true that we are part of the nature. It means we are just killing ourselves chronically now. Why are we doing this? Please stop.
P.S. Chernobyl in chinese, 切爾諾貝利核電站, this sounds a bit more familair
