I wonder what John was thinking when he wrote that down. His heart must have been full of joy. To him it wasn't an abstract concept as many today including myself are tempted to think of it in terms of. As he wrote down that phrase in his mind he could be recalling countless memories of his real life experiences with Jesus. To him must not have been abstract, but very personal to him. He had been on the receiving end of grace on top of grace by Jesus himself. This fills my heart with what I can best describe as joy, wonder, and longing all rolled up into one. I look forward to when I will no longer see through the glass darkly, but someday soon will see Jesus face to face.

Saturday, November 18, 2006

We had a lecture tonight by Dr. John Warwick Montgomery, the famous apologist. Here are a couple of quotes I liked...

"Your brain is so narrow minded you could look through akeyhole with both eyes simultaneously."

"God created us in his own image and since then we've been returning the favor"

Also, my history teacher gave the studentry a chapel message the other day and told this joke. (He's a chaplain with the Marines)

A soldier, a sailor, an airman, and a Marine got into an argument about which service was the best. The arguing became so heated the four servicemen failed to see an oncoming truck. They were run over by the truck and killed instantly. Soon the four servicemen found themselves at the Pearly Gates of Heaven. There they met Saint Peter and decided that only he could be the ultimate source of truth and honesty. So, the four servicemen asked him, "Saint Peter, which branch of the United States Armed Forces is the best?"

Saint Peter replied, "I can't answer that. However, I will ask God what He thinks the next time I see Him. Meanwhile, thank you for your service on earth and welcome to Heaven."

Some time later, the four servicemen see Saint Peter and remind him of the question they had asked when first entering heaven. The four servicemen asked Saint Peter if he was able to find the answer. Suddenly, a sparkling white dove lands on Saint Peter's shoulder. In the dove's beak is a note glistening with gold dust. Saint Peter says to the four servicemen, "Your answer from the Boss. Let's see what he says." Saint Peter opens the note, trumpets blare, gold dust drifts into the air, harps play crescendos, and Saint Peter begins to read the note aloud to the four servicemen:

************************************************************************

MEMORANDUM FROM THE DESK OF THE ALMIGHTY ONE
TO: Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines.

Gentlemen, all branches of the United States Armed Forces are honorable and noble. Each serves America well and with distinction. Being a serviceman in the United States Military represents a special calling warranting special respect, tribute, and dedication. Be proud of that!

Sincerely,
GOD, USMC

Wednesday, November 15, 2006

Recent photo of me and friends (bad grammar on purpose)

School is almost over, I can't believe it. I'm looking forward to election break; I'm heading up to Pennsylvania with a friend. I also just had my birthday, so I have a couple new books to read, a new CD (loreena mckennitt) to listen to, also a significant increase in candy.

Wednesday, November 08, 2006

I'm basically recovered now. Right now I'm writing a ten page brief for Constitutional Law. :)

Monday, October 30, 2006

Hey guys,

It's kind of a small thing, but I have a fever right now during the start of a school week and I would appreciate any prayer that I could get.

Thanks - Brandon

Sunday, October 29, 2006

Mankind has a shadowy terror that penetrates to his soul,

Not from lack of sleep, this can only restore the muscles;

Not from lack of peace, this can only revive the mind.

But a fear wrought from the apathy of his finiteness.

Men in robes speak of ends, amidst the circles of fate;

Seeing the conflicting thoughts of those around him,

Each person, who once had firm beliefs, silently questions truth.

Man waits among the dead, for death to come to him;

Man waits among the weak, so that he might think himself strong.

He preaches his well-reasoned beliefs among the fools,

In order to keep himself from thinking reasoned thoughts.

Is there truly an order to this lonely land of songs?

Or is this just a self-made fancy, to keep mankind from his fear?

Ah!
