i should be yelping

cafe los gatos was awesome. if you are ever in the mood for a great breakfast, try their omelet souffles. or their crab cake benedict platter. the 20 minute wait was so worth it.

"So in a last-minute move demanded by one of China's highest officials, the two were put together for the Olympic opening ceremony, with one lip-synching Ode to the Motherland over the other's singing."

*sigh* the real singer apparently wasn't cute enough. so, question for anybody... but apparently, both girls were happy they could be a part of the olympics opening ceremony.

- would you be insulted if you were yang, the girl whose voice was used but not allowed to be seen?
- would you be insulted if you were lin, the girl who was asked to lip sync the song to yang's voice?
- if you would be insulted, would the slight be worse for yang or for lin?
- do you think it was wrong for china to create this deception (lip synch) for the sake of what they must have thought was a better package? why didn't they just use a girl who they felt was cute enough who had a voice that was good enough instead of doing what they did?

mud is so refined!

i'm really getting into mud colors. first snufericious' face treatment. then it was my car--a beautiful metallic mud color. now it's my morning smoothie.

my boss woke me up this morning to put out a fire, and i was sooo groggy. to make myself feel better, i made a new smoothie which i'll call "morning mud madness". it's a perfect blend of carrots, spinach, celery, blueberries, guava juice, and ice.

thoughts on using my vita-mix:
you can't just blend anything together, and the recipes that come with the unit sometimes need tweaking. the blueberry ice cream recipe had way too much sugar for my tastes, and soups require a bit of tinkering... but i don't think i've ever had so many fresh veggies in a week. i <3 my vita-mix 5200. hopefully the extra fiber from these raw foods will lower my cholesterol 131 points.

random thoughts

i discovered the joy of watching okay DVDs at 1.4x speed. you still get the audio and storyline... at a 40% faster rate. i doubt my enjoyment of the video declined any more than 10%

also, did nancy pelosi really have to call president bush a total failure. was that really necessary? *sigh*

my advice for the next president: balance the budget and cut our national debt. one day, our credit card habit will catch up with us, and someone will have to pay. better suffer a little now than a lot later.

would you rather be better off than most of your friends at a lower standard of living, or worse off than most of them, at a higher standard of living. sometimes i think i would be happier w/ the former. sometimes i feel having less (or feeling less blessed) than most of my friends makes me more unhappy than if i had more than my friends, and everyone had a lower standard of living. i guess this just comes with living in the silicon valley sometimes. must fight the urge to covet (neighbor's wife, possessions, abilities, happiness, etc.)

on gore's challenge to have carbon free electricity in 10 years... why not? yeah, it does sound a bit unrealistic, but it's because we're not desperate enough. drilling in the arctic does not sold our problems in the short term and only feeds our hunger for oil long term.

as with anything else on this blog, all this is just my opinion. that's all.
