Umm...about your dad...I on't think it would be possible to not love him, if you've already loved him once before. I think once you start loving anything, you don't stop. One can NEVER love too much, one can NEVER love enough. Love chooses the right paths...even when those paths are sometimes painful. Take a look at the Israelites going through the desert, for example. It as hard and painful for them to make it through, but love brought them there, so love brought them out...and much stronger than if it had never happened at all. Love always does what's good for you, for the other person, and for everyone around you. That's how love is - it's the ultimate good.
Sorry. That isn't AT ALL what I was going to say. I didn't mean to get into a silly rant, it just kinda started coming to me, and then didn't stop! Oh well. I hope it does something for you, anyway.
