  • Scrooge

For some reason I can't get into the Olympics.  I have watched them maybe for about five minutes.  I just think they are totally boring.  But everyone is talking about them etc.  so I consider myself a scrooge toward the Olympics.  I have nothing against the Olympics I just have other stuff I would rather be doing.  I have started on some more sewing projects.  My sock monkeys are getting boring but I do need to finish them for up coming gifts.  I have started making some purses/diaper bags.  I carry a big purse because I put all of Savannah's stuff in it.  I am also going to make some curtains.  I didn't realize how easy sewing is with a pattern.  Usually everything I make is from my head and requires thinking.  But with a pattern I think I could make anything.  I have some outfits I want to make for Savannah....when will I ever find the time?   She loves my sewing machine and so does Zander.  I left it on one day and Zander stepped on the petal twice and started it up.   At least he hasn't put teeth marks in it yet.

I have been thinking today is Tuesday all day.  David went racing yesterday in Indy and was gone from 8-5 then he went and worked from 7-12.  He is an over achiever when it comes to working but I was the same way.

We went to Brown County State Park this weekend.  Savannah wanted to ride the horses again.  This time she rode Buster.  She loves it so much and she wanted to go faster this time.   I think when she gets older riding lessons will be a must.  We also stopped at the Brown County Winery.  I find wineries fascinating just the whole growing grapes etc.  My parents make wine, and just give it away.  I did help them make the labels from their last batch.  When I worked David and I would go to very nice lavish wine tastings and dinners.  But those were the days.  (Now I would spend the money on Savannah or put it in her college fund)   Of course I don't drink much wine anymore, maybe a glass occasionally.  Also we stopped at a road side stand in Brown County and bought some sweet corn....it was very good.  We took it over to a friends house on Sat. and they loved it also.  Now I want to go back and get some more.  Hopefully my parents will have corn from their gardens.

Tomorrow Savannah starts Kindermusik.  I think she will love it.  She sings all the time and dances.   So I hope it is something we both can enjoy doing.

Yesterday at church I had to go and get her from the nursery.  She was crying because she wanted me.  My number on my badged blinked up on the screen and I thought, "oh no".   So I run to get her and she looked at me and said, Mommy, miss you.  My heart just sunk.  I never leave her so when I do I feel bad.  So I sat with her through the lesson and then they got a snack and I left and she was fine.

She has been sleeping through the night.  She usually falls asleep at 11 and wakes up between 8-9, which I think is excellent for her.  She has also been sleeping on her Dora sheets and comforter which has helped!  I just need to buy her a bed.  Right now she sleeps on her crib matress on the floor but she rolls all around and even ends up opposite from where I laid her down so I am scared to get her a big bed.  Plus she has no fear she would jump on it and fall head first so even if I have the rails she would try to jump off of it.  So I am actually thinking of a toddler bed.  I would have much more peace at night knowing she is not going to dive off of a bed.  But she still does sleep in her playyard which it getting a little snug for her. So a bed might be one of her birthday presents.  Also when she does sleep upstairs, I wish I could wake up and see her.....like I have done for almost the past two years so I think sometime I would love to invest in a video monitor.  So I could just turn the TV on and see her instead of walking up the stairs.  I think this would also be handy for a second child also.   The first night she slept upstairs I woke up every two hours and checked on her.   It is why I love the whole family sleeping in the same room it is so comforting.  David thinks the same.  If I could build our house over I would make our bedroom bigger to hold another bed.

Well I have rambled on and on.......I have lots of housework waiting.

DCAM0422   She is upset in this picture because she doesn't want to get off Buster.

Ice in Aug  I had to post this picture of the hail storm we had last week.  Our porch stayed very icy for a couple of hours.  Savannah said she was playing in snow.

  • Savannah's growing up

Never go to Walmart the day before school starts, oh my goodness.  It was crazy, I don't think I would wait until the day before school starts to buy all of my childs school supplies.

Sunday at church Savannah went into her class all by herself and she was their for an hour and a half.  Luckily the church  has a pager system if anything was wrong and she needed me.  It was the first time she went.  Usually she sits in church and plays and colors but I thought she would have more fun with the kids her age.  I couldn't believe it I had to fill out a sheet of information, you would of thought I was leaving her all day.  They had snack and sing songs and have stories but of course in less than a month she will move into the two years old room which they say she will do fine in.  I went to pick her up and she was still playing when we were trying to go home.  She is getting very independant.  She has been falling asleep by herself on the couch which is so cute.  She also want to pick out her clothes, put her own shoes on, she thinks she can do everything by herself.  Which is good until you are in a hurry.

To help Savannah potty train during the day she goes without a diaper part of the day.  She has good days where she will use the potty.  Yesterday I looked up and realized she was going outside.  I asked her what she was doing and she said "Z dog potty"  so she was just going where Zander goes.  Now only if  I could get him to use the bathroom.  She copies everything he does.  I don't push the potty chair or make a big deal if she does have an accident without her diaper.

I can't believe how fast the day goes.  I just start playing with Savannah and Zander and it is after 5:00.  So time for our second walk.  I am cooking chicken parmesan tonight which is Davids favorite meal.  Yeah tomorrow is my Jewelry Party.  I am just looking forward to seeing some friends I haven"t seen in awhile.

  • Deals

This past week has went by so quick.  The past two days have been crazy.  This week I organized all of my closets, painted walls (used same color) to paint over scuff marks from moving in etc.  I put Old English on banister to make it shine, I brought down our coffee table and cleaned it up, I treated the leather couches.  Shopped for curtains (didn't find any) I am now searching for fabric.  Luckily after doing this the builder called and wanted to show our house.  I don't mind because they pay us to show it.  Our house model is the only one our builder has built so I hope to have lots more showings.  I guess it helps people decide what layout they want.  I know we walked through lots of  homes to figure out which one worked best for us.

Today I sanded and stained a headboard that I got at a garage sale for 5.00.  It is going in our guest bedroom.  I was in a hurry so I didn't take a before picture.  But I will take a picture of it.  I may have to sand it one more time....I will see when it dries.  David has been exhausted this week he has worked about 13-15 hour days.  I haven't got the grass mowed and poor David has been trying to finish the post tops on our fence.

Today I went to Lowes and I always go to the clearance section because one time I found our ceiling fans for 30.00 which were normally over a 100.00.  Well today was my lucky day, I found 40.00 lamps on sale for 3.00.  The silk shades were normally 30.00 a piece I got for 2.00.  So I found two for our living room and one other I will put in the guest bedroom.  I would of got more but my cart was full.

Tonight we are going to pick up a kitchen island I found at a sale....kind of expensive but I am getting it at third of the cost new. David stopped by last night at his house around 10:00 to look at it and liked it.  He is suppose to hold it for us, we will see.  I am sure David wonders what he will come home to daily with my bargain shopping.  I know it seems I am spending money but in the long run I am saving us money because everything I have got is on our list for the house.

Savannah has been playing in her sandbox the neighbor gave to us.  She loves it.  She doesn't like to touch it with her hands or get the sand on her feet so she is very neat with it.  But she uses all her shovels, buckets and she even has used my measuring cups....they wash.

  • Love of Horses

    my favorite activity

    Can I take you home

Yesterday I took Savannah to Brown County State Park. My parents were camping there.  We had such a good time.  She has a love for horses, so she got to ride a pony.  She loved it so much we let her do two rides.  I was kind of scared but she held on and sat up really straight and had the time of her life.  She had to go and talk to the horses and pet them.  She screamed when we had to go.  She could of stayed with the horses all day. We will get her a new pair of cowboy boots in the fall.  Last year she wore her pink ones out...of course they are also too small.  I tried to convince my dad he needed to get a pony so Savannah can ride when we visit.  But he said he had 8 growing up and they are a lot of work.  So we will have to wait till we get land out in the country.  I would love to get her riding lessons but I don't know what age she should be?    I would love to work on somebody's farm.  I had pigs growing  and I was in 4H for ten years and I was in FFA all through highschool.  I even have a degree in college in Ag.  Working on a farm is hard work but it is something I would enjoy.  Plus Savannah would benefit seeing all the animals.  It is just something I miss since we live in the suburbs and I feel like Savannah will miss out not living in the country like I did growing up.

This fall we will be busy during the week.  She will be doing Kindermusik, Terrific Two's storytime, and a tumbling class.  I thought about preschool for age two but I don't want her to become overwhelmed.  I have started her on the piano.  She likes to find all the C's.  She sits and plays and I told her she can only push one key at a time so she doesn't pound on it.  But she just sings away.  I think she would do really good if I color coded the keys.

David has been in Texas the past week, got home at lunch today but was off to work in less than an hour.  He works way to much but he pays the bills so I can't say anything.  But I do all the yard work, maintenance in the house, pay all the bills, groceries, cleaning, laundry, cooking.  I figure the more I do the more he can focus on work.  I am learning to do a lot of maintenance things.  Our patio door seems to be getting harder to close and open, I cleaned the tracks but still seems to hard.  So I am going to by some Silicone spray....if they have such a thing.  I think I will do the garage doors also.  I reseeded the backyard a week ago so I have been watering it twice a day...I think I do see some more green patches.  I can't wait till the backyard has established grass that doesn't need watering.

I have been busy looking for curtains for the living room and dining room windows.  I can't decide what looks good plus I have to think about what color the walls will eventually be and the artwork etc.  Which I don't have yet.  We have been in our house for almost nine months and my decor is lacking but it will take time.  I can't afford to furnish and decorate my house all at once.  Which I would love to do.  If I find a piece of furniture or artwork I really like I should just buy it.  I always say I don't want to spend the money and then I am back at square one with not finding anything.  I would love to find some old furniture and fixup.  It just seems like sales I go to have old furniture but they want way to much for used furniture.  If I was going to spend that much money I might as well by the furniture new.  Anyway I guess decor isn't that important in the scheme of life.  Some people don't have money to eat and I am worried about what my curtains look like.  So if I go without curtains for awhile no big deal.

  • Whatever is on my mind......

I love being able to let Zander and Savannah out in the backyard with a fence.  It has been so nice.  This week has gone by so fast.  I always thought when I stayed at home and didn't work I would be bored.  I haven't been bored yet.  I have list of things I want to do but I don't have enough hours in my days.  I don't watch television during the day.  Savannah does watch some shows but I usually have her doing something else while she is watching.  Anything she watches is on PBS.  It it the best channel.  At first I was against her watching TV but as long as it is educational.  She learns so much from PBS.  But I do think there is a limit on how much TV a child should watch.

Last night Savannah and I went to a Premier Jewelry Party.  It was a lot of fun of course we both like jewelry.  Well I have always wanted to host some kind of party at my house.  I maybe crazy but I am going to host a party in August.  I really don't know that many people.  But I figure anybody that comes will have good food and drinks and be able to socialize.  I had so much fun looking at all the jewelry and trying it on I just hope I can get a few people together.  I figure maybe people can bring friends.

Well I started making a cheesecake today and realized I forgot the cream cheese.....after spending 1 1/2 hours at the grocery I forgot the main ingredient in my cheesecake.  I am not about to put Savannah back in her car seat, grocery cart seat for one package of cream cheese.  I thought to myself I would pay someone premium money for a package of cream cheese.  I thought maybe my neighbors would have an unopened package of cream cheese...highly unlikely.  So I didn't even bother to ask anybody.  My hubby will have to stop on the way home from work to get some.  Oh well life won't end because I don't have cream cheese.

Savannah and I are going for a bike ride this afternoon.  Savannah loves to ride around.  We don't go bike riding very often because I feel like we need to be walking Zander instead of leaving him in his crate at home.

We finally got three fish for our aquarium.  It has been a long process for the water conditioning.  At first we put in water before we had our water softener.  I tried all sorts of chemicals so my water would test out okay for fish.  I couldn't make it happen.  We finally got a water softener so I drained 45 gallons of water and started over.  After a few weeks the water seemed fine.  We now have a bala shark and two silver dollar fish.  The place I usually buy fish is under construction until Aug 28th so we will get more at the end of August.  Savannah loves to watch the fish.  She tells everyone she has a shark.
