Argh. I'm starting to hate this xanga thing. Can't even figure out how to post freaking photos on here any more!

I give up.

He's not crying....for now

It's a rare quiet moment in the Bergman household. Amber is out running errands and Brennan is laying in our big king sized chair chilling out. Has anyone ever seen a newborn baby that sleeps on his side? That's my son. Already an oddball. We had our first pediatrician appointment the other day, and SURPRISE, my son was declared "long and lean". He's currently 22", which is the 100th percentile, but still only 7lbs15oz. Again, that's my son. There he goes....the cry is on. I love him anyways, and miss his cry when I'm gone. One day, you'll know exactly what I mean.

Here he is, the main reason you come to this little part of the xanga universe. Without further adieu the "Man In Black"

My son has a lot of gas on a regular basis. Such a gassy baby. Why didn't somebody warn me about this. And when baby's have gas, it's not like grown-ups. They don't lift their leg and let it go. They cry and squirm and act in general like they're about to die, then there are a series of explosions in their diapers. It's like a miniature nuclear war, and I'm just hoping the bomb shelter (aka "diaper") holds.

This may all be more information than you wanted to know, but such is life in the Bergman household right now. He's growing every day and from the way he eats, he's going to be a linebacker. The Dr. said a baby will eat 8-12 times per day on average. Yesterday he ate 14 times. His hands are huge. His professional football career may be Amber and my retirement fund.

Yesterday he met Annaliese Palmer, the brand new baby daughter of Matt and Leah. She was due the day after he was due, but she ended up coming about a week earlier than he did. She's a cutie, but as you can see in the accompanying pic, she's a rough little filly. Like a good gentleman, he didn't hit back. She's going to have to kiss up for the rest of her life to make up for it, though.

::edit:: My son just sprung a leak as I was changing him. Pee EVERYWHERE. I had no idea a person so small could pee so far. He's less than 2 feet long, yet his covered a good 3 feet. That'd be like me shooting a 9 ft stream of urine. Impressive at the very least. I'm just glad it only got on my shirt. EWW. I think that would surely qualify as my son's first BAM on his father.

Hello from the land of "No Sleep". LIfe is good here, but all are very tired. It's amazing how many hour and a half naps you can take and STILL feel sleepy. Naps are really all we get in this house right now. Brennan eats about every 2 hours on average. Sometimes we get lucky and he sleeps 3. Sometimes we are unlucky and he doesn't sleep at all....he just eats. In the meantime, sleep is a luxury.

Don't mistake any of this as complaining, just explaining.

I talk to my newborn son....as if he can understand everything I say, and I know it sounds silly when I do it, but I really couldn't care less. I talk to him about how we had "Knives Out" by Radiohead playing the moment he was born because he moved when I sang it to him in his mommy's belly. I explained to him why I liked Josh Rouse so much, and how he lives in Spain now. I explained to him that Sigur Røs is the most beautiful music I've ever heard live. I explained that sometimes if he didn't drink enough water when he got older, his pee would smell like Sugar Smacks, and for him not to be surprised. I explained that good girls love a gentleman, and if you meet a lady that can't appreciate a gentleman then definitely don't date her, cause it'll end badly. These are a few of the things that I tell him when we hang out together...and yes, we do "hang out" already thank you very much.

Not to get all spiritual about this stuff, but I'm seeing that he's already affecting my prayer life. I don't know that I've prayed for anyone one person as much in my life. I talk to him and tell him what I wish for him, and it ends up in prayers...like asking God to make him fearless (not the "roller coaster" kind of fearless, more like the "move to China for 6 months" kind of fearless.

Anyways, that's enough for now. I'll do my best to keep updating, if I can keep my eyes open long enough to do it. That's all for now.

Brennan Riley Bergman is here!

This is TwentyMilesOnTheColtrane bringing the news straight from the horse's mouth. (And I don't mean to say that Indymusic has a horsemouth in any way. Nor do I mean to say that his face looks like a horse. In fact, i don't mean to intend that he in any way resembles a horse. It is just a phrase of speech. And now I realize that it is a very flawed phrase of speech. I can't say I have any semblance of an explanation to what this phrase means. So maybe i should just cease all usage of this phrase from now on. In fact let's forget I ever used it. I'll just try it again)

This is TwentyMilesOnTheColtrane bringing the news straight from God Himself: (aka Brian)

Just wanted to let you all know that Brennan Riley Bergman was born at 12:24am, August 12 at OU Medical Center in downtown Oklahoma City. He was 8lbs 2oz, and 21” long. Brennan and Amber are doing fantastic and we should be able to come home sometime Saturday. 7am Friday morning we were scheduled to induce, but labor started up about 1am on Friday. He knew we meant business and he was coming out one way or the other. ; ) He didn’t make it easy, though. 24 hours of labor and there he was! Amber was a trooper, as always.
We’re all enjoying some time together today, but we should be home Sunday morning. If you’d like to come see us sometime this week, we’d love to see you! Give us a call at home and come by. Forgive us if we’re not the speediest at returning phone calls and e-mails, but I’m sure you all understand.
Feel free to FWD our news on to friends. This is a huge moment in the life of our little family and we’d love your prayers for mom and son especially.
