Although I should be doing my homework, I decided that I would take a moment out and write a xanga entry. Something that I have neglected to do in a while.

Chinese New Year was celebrated this past weekend- January 29 to be exact. As a child I always associated the holiday with receiving red evnvelops with money in them and visiting relatives. All I knew was that everytime I saw a "grown-up" I had to say "Happy New Year" in Chinese so that I would receive my money. It wasn't until recent years that I've come to appreciate the holiday and the joy that is brings. Growing up Chinese New Year was a big holiday in my family, and it still is. Relatives would come over for dinner, friendly gambling in the living room, and all was well because a new year would bring luck and fortune to all.

I've come to realize that it's not about the money you receive but the blessing that you give to the ones you love and the time you spend with them.
