thanks for the MahJong link.  I think i've came across kyodai before never played it though.  Originally, I was going to play with a few friends last saturaday, but because of the blizzard in New England, it nevered materialized.

Thx for telling me about the navigation issue of my layout.  I had it since January and with regard to HTML I was trying out something unqiue; but sometimes being different doesn't always mean better.

I really like the program RamPage. (clever name btw)

A friend of mine wrote this nice little image viewing utility in visual basic. Download and description could be found here: http://www.geocities.com/aific/imagedesktop.html

To Use:

0) unzip
1) click on ID.exe
2) Right click on the window for menu options

Clif have you ever tried Free Ram XP Pro?  It is a fabulous little program for instant ram freeing.  I first got it when I was on dial-up, even now on DSL I wouldn't go without it.

Hey Clif, thanks for the plug....FreeRam XP Pro was one of the downloads for the day today in PC World Daily Downloads.  I thought it was funny because it is not a new program, and has been available for download from them for two years. :)

Clif,
I've been enjoying your newsletter and availing myself on what it
offers. Though the system tools are often valuable to me personally, I
especially liked your link to Nova and the web design tutorial in this most
current issue.

My own web site is heavy on content (you have seen it in the past) and weak on style. I am going to
use the turorial to make my show more pretty.
Thanks,
Mike Stahl (www.mikestahl.org)

Great newsletter, The cooling CPU program intrigued me. As ABC's 20/20 covered this thing about how hot laptops on a man's lap reduces his sperm count for two months or so. ...lol

I've checked out the flash clock, it's kinda cool.

I think you're right about the physics on the bullet leaving the gun. The initial velocity leaving the muzzle is the probably the highest given air friction. My original logic was based on the fact that gravity helps pulls the bullet when it's traveling downward; but that's probably not correct.

The program I've used for those CGI images is Cinema4D.

-take care

Clif....BigFix came bundled on my eMachine.  In my early days of the net and this PC I let Windows Update run (no more) but BF always beat it in the notification there was an update.  I have it start at bootup and I let it search all fixlets then I shut it down because it does use quite a bit of resources.

I have also used it with ZoneAlarm from version 3 on and no problems.  It's a great program though.

I used the video from Ben Edelman in the class I teach, to illustrate how it happens.  It truely impressed the students.  I will use it again next class.

Thanks for another great newsletter!

Jean

Hi Clif!
I noticed that you mentioned a download manager on your newsletter and I'm using this one called Star downloader.  It's free and it's been good to me (unlike gozilla or those other spyware-bundled managers) so perhaps you'd like it also.On browser, I don't know if it's been mentioned in any previous posts but there's this browser called Avant.  It's pretty good with keeping the popups away and you can custom change it (at least physically, the coding I can't tell.).
