| | "DO YOU WANT TO EAT MY BANANAS?!" Yeah, I thought so. Hahah, the title quote is from Tetsu, bass guitarist of L'arc~en~Ciel, at their Otakon 2004 concert. God, I love J-Rockers. Well, this group in particular. Anywho, an update is long overdue. So much has happened in the past two weeks, but I'd like to thank everyone out there for their birthday wishes. It means a lot. :) I've decided to focus this entry on the FFXI iGames Tournament Tour, which happened April 30, at PCGamerz in Aiea. I met up with Amako about 15 minutes before the festivities were to take place and we exchanged presents (arigatou gozaimasu). Soon our friend, who we call "Final Fantasy Tim/FF Tim", came by and joined us in line. You can find him here: Hahah, shmack dab in the middle. Pic courtesy of Pikko from allakhazam.
The FFXI version of the "Hello, my name is _________" sticker.
The first competitors in the Boss Battle Bash. They had one member from each team on the computers outside while the rest of them were in the LAN store. They switched to each team every now and then on the huge-ass Plasma screens. Very nice.
I'm pretty sure every person with a camera has at least one pic of this guy's shirt. On the front it had "Manthra." Hahah.
Yeah, you had to have six people in order to sign up for the BBB, and if you didn't have a group of friends with you, you could've made your own sign like this:
Yes, that does say "Matrix" in peach sharpie. <3 You didn't get to use your character, rather they had pre-made ones for each boss. The job/level info is just to give others an idea of how experienced you are.
Anywho, we got just about 5 people (me, Amako, Spoo, FF Tim and his friend), so we decided to scout. That didn't really help, so we decided to have people seek us. Thus, I had an idea. I took the back of my "LFP" paper and created this and used my FFXI version of "Hello, my name is" sticker and stuck it on my chest:
That definitely got a lot of people's attentions. A lot of them laughed, quite a few took pictures, and plenty of them stared (I'm pretty sure they were trying to read the sign).
Amako got a lot of attention to her chest too! Because her shirt was soooo awesome! ^_^
We were planning on fighting Dvoroiroi or however you spell it. Mandys. There you go.
And it was super cool cuz while we were signing up, the North American Producer, Yasu Kurosawa, came out of nowhere, took a good look at our chests, and asked for a picture. Yes, he liked Amako's shirt and my sign. ^_^
Afterwards, we talked with him for a bit. And Spoo asked him if he knew the GM that did the weddings. He said he did, and we asked him to tell her 'thank you, from the Matrix LS' for all her work and for being so sweet! ^^ He's a very nice guy, very down to earth. He even sat down next to us to eat and stuff. Truly awesome.
Oh, throughout the first 4 hours, the MC Arec asked about 40-50 trivia questions, in order to reserve a spot on a PC for the Tarutaru Cure Marathon (36 total). You also got a Tarutaru /laugh shirt. I was able to get a question (only cuz I did the tarutaru /panic emote), and nearly forgot the answer cuz I was panicking too much. :3 So later on, at around 8 PM, I headed into the LAN store (PCGamerz) to do the marathon. My Taru's name was "Aononono" or something like that. But I remember it cuz it sounds like "Ow, no, no, no." XD Here's the map:
From Misareaux to Lufaise as a lvl 1 Tarutaru WHM. Hilarious. I died about 5 times, never reached the goal, but had a blast. It was funny hearing people swear and say, "No, no, NO! DAMNIT!" every 5 minutes. ^_^
They broadcasted the race on the two plasma screens outside where everyone can see, and it was funny listening to the MC say, "Go Ajaja, RUN! YOU CAN DO IT!" or "Oh no! Apepe don't DIE!" Yeah, he was the Tarutarus' cheerleader. X3 And yeah, I was nowhere near the lvl75 Galka camera guy when he died from too much aggro but I did hear it loud and clear. XD That was hilarious.
Oh yes, everyone who participated in the marathon received the FFXI Atlas and a Dear Friends booklet. That was enough for me.
The cure marathon was the highlight of my evening, and unfortunately, I have no more pictures. ^^;; However! If you do want to see or read more about the event, I highly recommend these links:
ffxi.allakhazam.com's Event Account. RentAHamster's Blog review. ffxi.allakhazam.com's Pikko has pics.Jaysensen's LJ account. I'm in the AH pic. Pink shirt, you can't miss me.
That's all folks! I would post pics of Spoo, but he's camera-shy. :P
