Bloggers and Journalists Together?

The Buzz Machine's Jeff Jarvis propositions Times honcho:  let bloggers and journalists work together.  The object, according to Jeff Jarvis is to revitalize journalism.  But the Times won't take this sitting down.  After all, it is the Times that provides bloggers with materials for commentaries.  Read on.  Dvorak provides the link to this exchange.  Here is what he writes:

This stems from the fact that too many bloggers take themselves oh-so seriously and have failed to realize that they are not journalists, but media critics. And, for some reason they think that being a media critic is somehow less important than being a reporter. This is part of that American desire to be seen as a professional rather than a tradesman. Or in the case of media critic, a plain old bullshit artist.
