We got THE FLEA!

Thank you to Jorge for this cool gift from Mexico! What a pleasant surprise!

If you are wondering why Warner Bros has not released an (ahem) "authorized" version for sale in the USA.... all I can say is this - It's a damn shame that large corporations tend not to take financial risks with Mexican maskmakers who have no proven track record in the U.S. licensing biz.

Anyhow, the fact that Mucha Lucha hoods are OUT THERE and available to fans of the show makes us very proud and happy

Just a humble thought...

Have you guys thought of approaching WWE... yes, World Wrestling Entertainment... to do a joint promo? Rey Mysterio has his roots in Mexican wrestling.

Mucha Lucha has the potential to transcend the age barrier like the Powerpuff Girls and appeal to adults too ;)

We actually wrote a whole episode in season 2 ('Party Animal') around a possible appearance in the show by Rey Mysterio.  Unfortunately he wasn't able to take part and we had to revise the character to the fictional 'Rey Dinamico'.

There is also a frosty attitude towards WWE from the childrens' network(s) that makes it impossible to feature any WWE wrestlers.  Believe me, we tried and tried and tried to get another WWE wrestler into the show, but were unable to get any internal support.

That mask looks amazing! A mascara of one of Flea's personal demons would shake the foundations of all I hold holy!!!!

Here's some news I found at one of the horror sites I freq.

"Remember a long, long while back (or maybe it just seems that way) when a new Rob Zombie project called The Haunted World of El Superbeasto was announced? Well, I do (it was before we joined up here), and ever since that announcement I’ve wondered what the hell was going on with it.

For those that don’t recall, El Superbeasto was announced as a fully animated movie starring the Mexican wrestler from Zombie's Spookshow International comic series, in which he would take on all manner of monster and bad guy with the the assistance of his sister, Suzie X, and a 10-foot tall robot named Marvin (no relation to the one from Hitchhikers).

Here’s some potential good news on that front, then; Variety posted an article today about IDT Entertainment, parent company of Anchor Bay and New Arc Entertainment, closing a deal with JP Morgan for a $50 million credit facility in order to make their genre projects a reality. The release stated that most of the money would be going into New Arc, the company behind El Superbeasto, as well as the recently-wrapped The Fallen Ones and All Souls Day, both set for Sci Fi Channel premieres.

The release also states that New Arc has animated projects in development with John Carpenter and Tobe Hooper, but no details were forthcoming about either. With this massive new loan, and the ability to draw on $25 million in additional funds, we could see more and more of these projected ideas become real entertainment before we know it."

I'm watching the original pilot from the "El Malefico" dvd. Very nice!

I don't know which extras are better the one from this dvd or "Heart of Lucha".

The original pilot includes the original characters. (Roach Boy, original Rikochet, etc).

'Roach Boy'?  He was originally 'La Cucaracha'.  Roach Boy was never used...unless someone has erroneously tacked this on to the extras somehow.

I heard Lili say Roach Boy on the Heart of Lucha dvd.  I think she said La Cucaracha, Roach Boy, Flea and The Flea. I guess I'll have to look at the Heart of Lucha extras too.  I loved that you guys included the storyboard on the El Malefico extras.  Hmm. I can only wish for a box set of Mucha Lucha.  I can dream can't I (Hint Hint).  If and when, I'd like a ton of extras on the box sets.

The character that became The Flea, was christened 'Roach Boy' by one of the writers as a replacement for La Cucaracha.  It was never actually used in the pilot or the series, and was soon replaced by 'The Flea'.

pcdoctor, I asked WBA a few weeks back about releasing the rest of the series on DVD

No dice, sorry.  Seems they have other priorities right now :(
