DIVINATION: -- "Spontaneous divination. An unconstrained form of divination, free from any particular medium, and actually a generalization of all types of divination. The answer comes from whatever object the diviner happens to see or hear. Some Christians and members of other religions use a form of bibliomancy: they ask a question, rifle the pages of their holy book, and take as their answer the first passage their eyes light upon."
Now, how many of you Christians out there have done that... NOT realizing it was a form of divination? I know that *I've* done it before...
"However, in the Judeo-Christian Bible most forms of divination are strictly forbidden by God."
"Most" forms? Now I'm quite interested - which, if any, forms of divination are NOT forbidden by God?
I recall some king or someone using astrology frequently. And don't they cast lots? That would be sortiledge divination.
What makes those forms okay, but not tarot cards? Why can I cast lots and interpret the stars, but reading your palm or consulting a deck of cards is grounds for being stoned to death? |
